I put in an online request on July 10th in the evening because the hinge on my fridge was broken. Got a call back and was told ******* would come on the 11th, which he did. He told me the hinges needed to be replaced on the fridge door and suggested that although only one was broken both should be replaced. Said he would come back either Saturday or Monday and sent me the invoice for half of the estimate which I paid.($218.73) Never came or called to let me know that he wouldn’t be there. After a few more days I contacted the company and they had him call me. Told me the part wasn’t in yet but he would contact me as soon as he had it. It’s now been almost 3weeks since the first visit. I have tried contacting the company and texting ******* but ….crickets.
I would like my deposit returned, I'm willing to forego the $89 fee they told me would be charged for diagnosisInitial Complaint

Service call made June 25. Part was ordered but never arrived. Asked for a refund after 4plus weeks waiting. Still has not arrived. Service call $$ was to go toward repair but now they’re saying they no longer service my area and that the technician is no longer their employee. They won’t send another technician or refund my service call fee so I now have to get another company to fix the problemCustomer Answer

July 11th 2024 - an employee was sent out by this company to diagnose issues with both our dishwasher and washing machine.
We were told we would be charged a flat diagnosis fee - if we wanted to move forward with repairs, the diagnosis fee would be voided and we would be charged with the repairs and part only.
Their tech showed up at our home at 10am smelling like *******. He took a quick look into the dishwasher and established that the spray arm would need to be replaced. He said he would charge one price if we were paying and a different price if our landlords were paying.
He then looked at the washing machine (from the outside) didn't even open it up. And said that he could only guess at a problem and that it was too difficult to open up to know for sure. He told me he would order a new hose and hope that that was the issue.
He left within the hour after getting me to sign and pay for an invoice that he stated was just a 50% deposit. I did sign and pay and he left.
**** ** ******* *** **** *** ********* the invoice he realized that they had already charged us for FUTURE maintenance on the machines (and over charged us at that as he stated the dishwasher would take two seconds to put the part in) and he had charged us for parts that he wasn't even sure would fix the problem.
(While being at my house he proceeded to explain how to ****** clients for cash under the table)
We called that evening and said we'd like to cancel the part order and would not be moving forward with any services so we would need a full refund minus the diagnostic fee for the tech to come out and look at the appliances.
We've now had many emails and phone calls put in to customer service there with zero resolution. Customer service has been extremely ****. They just keep asking us to send email and stating that parts can't be returned (we know they can as we've since talked to many other experts in the field)and that all money is non refundableInitial Complaint

On October 27, 2023 I contacted Appliance Repair because my dishwasher was making noise. I was told a repairman could come the next day between 9 and one. Because I was having company for lunch that day I said no to that. I was told multiple times that on the work order I was to be the first appointment of the day. The repairman showed up at 11:45 after two of my guests had already arrived so I told the repairman he could not come in. On November 2 I received an invoice for the service. I called the company but all they have is a call centre so I could not talk to anyone about this. I emailed the company and got no reply. There was a second email address at the bottom of the invoice, ****@********* ****** ******.ca. I sent a message there and got no reply. I sent a second message asking specifically for a reply so I would know that my emails were being read but no reply. I received nothing more until May 14, 2024 when I received an email from ***** ********** demanding payment. I emailed back telling them my story to no avail. In their email they stated that they had tried to contact me many times by phone, email and regular mail but they had not, this was the first message from them. On June 21st I received a second email from them stating that they would contact ******* if I did not pay. I don’t believe I owe Appliance Repair anything as they did not fulfill their part of the contract with the time of the visit but in order for this to go away I decided to pay the bill. ******** **** * ******* ***** ********** ****** **** *** *** *** *** *** ******** ****** **** ****** ****** *** *** ****** ***** ******** ************ * ******* *** ** **** **** *********Initial Complaint

On July 10, 2024, my dryer started to smell like it was burning. I opened the dryer door and the dryer would not stop spinning, however, I also noticed that one of the vents was glowing bright orange and assumed that was going to be an immediate fire hazard so I unplugged, the dryer. On July 11, I found online and contacted Appliance Repair Expert. I used their website to book an online visit and waited for a callback. I received a call within less than one minute from an unknown and out of province, phone number. The person did not sound like a customer service representative. They said I would be contacted by a local repair person with a time and date. On that same day, I was contacted by someone that gave me a window of time when they would arrive to look at my dryer. This again, was from a different number than the last. Note – there are no cell phone numbers used with this company. All land lines. When the "Technician" arrived – they didn't even look at the burner or the heat vent and said there was just a problem with the switch on my door, which is why the dryer wouldn't turn off. They charged for the visit, did not offer the $30 discount for first time customers, Informed us they would come back with parts and would repair the switch. They didn't even look at the major problem which was the fire hazard! On July 22 I finally called them back to inquire when the repairs will be done. I am in BC – I receive a call from a different person again in Toronto, which would've been 11 PM their time – another landline number. The call was very hard to understand but I was told someone in customer service would contact me the next day. This has not occurred nor are my emails or phone calls being addressed now. I am out $144.48 for someone to just show up , and look at my dryer and leave.Customer Answer

- Date of transaction: July 9, 2024
- Amount paid: $100.57
- What the business committed to providing: Diagnostic assessment of appliance
- Nature of dispute: The company sent someone to the house to assess our dishwasher. He did not take it apart or assess it and encouraged us to leave the room while he looked at it. We watched him from the hallway as he proceeded to look up the model on his phone. He then told us the electric panel needed replacing, as well as the door lock, which would cost $475. He said he needed to order a special part that would take four days to come in. When we asked further questions about the problem and how he knew this, he could not answer our questions. We told him we would need a second opinion and he argued with us saying that we had to pay him $100 anyway for coming and we wouldn’t find anything better. We got a second opinion from a technician our neighbour recommended, *** ** **** ** **** **** *******. This technician took apart the appliance and thoroughly assessed it. He said the electrical panel was fine and the issue was a small wire coming loose in the door. He assessed the dishwasher and fixed it within 30 minutes. It cost us $95 in total.
- Whether or not the business has tried to resolve the problem: I have reached out twice and have not received any response.Initial Complaint

Hello,
***** ********** Collections notified me of an unpaid balance to Appliance Repair Experts from April 10, 2023. I am not responsible for that invoice. I called them to check on why my refrigerator wasn't working after a power outage during the ice storm in Montreal last year. When the technician came there on April 10, 2023, he came to diagnose and repair the existing appliance, quote based on the issue, as per invoice, etc. I paid $102.33 as per the first invoice. I will also send you the proof of payment email that confirms that. Then, on April 11, 2023 I received the $287.44 invoice with the SAME exact information-diagnose and repair existing appliance indicating technician will quote on site, etc. Confused, I called regarding that invoice and I asked for someone to call me back, and I emailed as well. Andrew S. replied to me. He ended up calling me. I told him I paid for the service and he understood and agreed and told me over the phone I won't be charged. Then, all he did was subtract my $102.33 from the $287.44 and sent me ANOTHER invoice for $185.11. Please read carefully the differences of the invoices. * **** ******** *** **** ** ** *********** ** *** ***********
