When I called the company, I was informed that the diagnostic fee would be $80. However, when the technician arrived, he checked a few things and quoted me $860 for repairs and an additional $270 for servicing, which I never requested. He claimed the motherboard needed to be replaced and assured me the machine was in good condition and would work perfectly afterward. He brought a part and asked for payment before obtaining it. He seemed frustrated and then mentioned that he needed another part, which required even more money. I asked him to return the part and refund my money since I wasn't prepared to spend so much. Despite this, they continued to send me notices demanding payment for additional costs. Ultimately, I ended up purchasing a new dryer and lost $526 in the process. They have 5 star reviews when I googled which seems to be fake.

We had a technician come to look at a leaking dishwasher on February 3, 2025 and were told it is $80 to have the technician diagnose the issue. When the technician reviewed the issue, he said it needed new parts that had to be ordered and said the total cost would be $514. I asked if I could speak to my husband first to see if we thought getting a new dishwasher would make the most sense given the age of the current one. He told me no and we had to make a decision at that point. So I said to go ahead. I connected with my husband after the technician left and we agreed that a new dishwasher was the best route to go. We called the A Team Appliance 15 minutes after the technician left to see if we could cancel the order and were advised that it could be done since they hasnt even received the paperwork from the technician yet. We were told we would receive a call back to make arrangements for the refund. We ordered a new dishwasher and paid for that unit to be delivered the next day.We never received a call back and followed up 2 more times. Finally, we were connected with ***** from their accounting department who said she would only refund $185 because we had to be charged restocking and labour (for parts that were never ordered and labour that was never done). She said labour was non refundable even if it hadnt been done yet. I advised that we had called to enquire about cancelling and was told it was no problem. She threatened to knock down my refund to $0. She said that she would start charging for her time on the phone. She said she had no way of knowing if the work had been completed or not. I asked to speak to Emkays manager and she advised she reports directly to the silent owners so she is top of the company, which I dont know to be true. They are only agreeing to refund $185. A look online shows me numerous people are affected by this company in similar ways and are getting ripped off. Now I out the cost of this repair as well as a new dishwasher.

We have offered the customer a refund of $187.21, but he has not agreed to it.

I am rejecting this response because:

This company provides a complete lack of transparency for their pricing and services. They claim an initial $80 service fee but do not highlight that this only includes the technician to drive to your house - no actual services are included in their "service fee". To diagnose the dishwasher, they claim it is a $290 fee (which is NOT discussed or presented at any point prior to the diagnostic being completed. They hide this fee in all inclusive "labour costs") We cancelled our order 15 minutes after the technician left the house and were told by the call centre they had not even received the order from the technician yet so it was no problem. If no parts have been ordered, how are we being charged a restocking fee?

Furthermore, if you call the call centre and ask what they charge for their diagnostic fee, they will not tell you. I have a call recording of this correspondence that I am happy to share. They state that it is case by case, but then claim the diagnostic is part of a flat fee service fee. If the service fee is a flat fee, they should be able to provide a range of fees. Every single person who has used their services is charged the exact same $290 labour fee - so how are they unable to provide this pricing schedule? It is because they are purposely trying to be deceitful. There are charges against this company for lack of transparency in business practices, so this is not simply a begrudged customer experience. They are acting untoward and have hundreds of complaints against them.

I will accept a refund of $434 to resolve this matter payable within 30 days.

    Sincerely,

    ***** Fair

I dont understand how you can state the business made a good faith effort when they have stolen from hundreds of families. I have call recordings that indicate they are not transparent with their diagnostic costs. The order was cancelled prior to any parts being ordered and we are being charged a restocking fee? If the BBB sees this as good faith practices, then that is very disappointing. I will submit your response to the media file.

Sept 20 2024 found online to fix sub-zero freezer leak. They fixed one issue but cause a second issue, want looking online I now see this company is a scam, they refuse to respond so i can file claim in small claims court, I emailed 3 x , they dont reply.Issue was freezer leak, repair man did some trouble shooting ,asked us to turn unit off, said the main board needed to be replaced. He disconnected / disable the door dispenser unit in the process of his troubleshooting. IF it was broken he would have put that on the bill/ report , which he did not as it was 100 % working when he arrived. When second repairman came to install main board, we asked why door unit was not working , he said wear and tear. We explained it was in good working order when they came the first time. Feel strongly this is a scam, they will not return my calls or emails to address this issue.

The Company did reply only because you contact them .

They still have refused to give me any company information ( owner, Corp # etc) but did say they would send a senior repairman to fix the issue at no charge.

Friday Feb 7th the repair man came, he did NOT fix the fridge door dispenser, he also informed me they are all independent contractor workers they dont work for the company as employees.

After the repair man left a, I emailed the company and told them it was not fixed and to send me the company information so I can file in small claims court , they have not responded.

It is basically a call center that dispatched workers so I have had no success in getting in touch with a manager / owner.

I hope to stop them from taking other people money in this way.

I reached out to the A Team Appliance Repair on December 27th to fix my washing machine. A technician came and told me a part needed to be ordered to fix the machine. I agreed to this, as I was told this is what was needed to fix my machine. 2 weeks later when the technician installed the part, I paid the invoice ($1160.47) as the machine seemed to be worked. 10 minutes after he left, the machine had the same error that I was dealing with two weeks ago. When I called the company, I was told it needed to be put through warranty, even though he didn't fix the issue that I was told was fixed. The technician then came back 2 days later (Thursday) to look and said I needed a different part, and would be contacted by their company. After not hearing from them, I called them at the end of the day Friday to ask for an update. They seemed to have no idea that there was more service needed to my machine, and could not give me an update until Monday. I then did not hear from them on Monday, so I called at the end of the day and was told I needed to spend another $850 on a different part. I asked to speak with a manager to understand what is going on, as I no longer trust that the original part needed replacing. I was told I can't get a refund on the previous part, because they had already ordered it and paid for it, and it had been installed, even though it didn't fix the problem they told me that it would fix. They told me a manager would get back to me, and they never did, even after multiple calls from **** would not have agreed to order the previous part if I knew that it would not fix my machine. Between the previous service and the new cost of another part, I am looking at $2000 spend for a machine that would cost me $1500 to replace. Many times I was not called back to be given an explanation as to what was happening, and I feel I have been taken advantage of by this company. I am looking for a refund for the parts and the installation of the parts.

On January 18th, 2025, I called The A Team Appliance Repair to place a service call for my washing machine, which was not draining water properly. A technician arrived, took a picture of the display showing an E2 error message, and informed me that the draining pump needed to be replaced. The technician did not attempt to fix the washing machine in any way and insisted that replacing the draining pump was the only option.I made a deposit of CAD $406.32, covering 50% of the labor and parts. The technician misled me by not explaining that the labor cost was non-refundable. However, on January 20th, 2025, I got a second opinion from a technician from a different company. He inspected the draining pump, discovered it was clogged with debris, removed the debris, and the draining pump started working fine. When I requested The A Team Appliance Repair to charge me only the CAD $80.00 service call fee and refund the rest, they stated that the labor cost was non-refundable. No labor was performed during this call. Paying the service call fee is fair, but anything beyond that is unreasonable and a rip-off.

I contacted The A appliance Repair company on January 6, 2025. They came to the home on January 7th and said there was a labour cost and parts of ****** to be paid, which I paid. They came to my home on January 7th. After the technician examined the machine, they stated that the price of the parts and labour would a cost totalling $******, which I paid. He said that the parts would be ordered and it would take 3-5 business days. The same technician came to put the part in the machine which took approximately 30 mins. He said that the machine was not to be used for 12 hours. The tenant used the machine the following morning, and the exact same problem happened - no rotation, and water was not filling up to the appropriate level. I called the phone number and the person who answered the phone said that I would have to wait for 10 days before the same technician could come back- I said that I wanted a new technician to come, one that knew what they were doing. ***** said I would have to pay for the cost of another technician to come. I was frustrated and upset as this did not make any sense to me. The company should stand behind their work, and a lapse in time for someone to come back was ridiculous. I said that I would have my partner with me when they came to the house. She said she took that as a threat and cancelled my appointment. This was not a threat, it was someone that I trusted to be with me who understood what was going on. Also, I did not want to deal with this company as I felt I was scammed out of my money. I want to have my money returned as they are not following up with my guarantee of which the tech said it was a year, and ***** said it was 30 days. My opinion - fraudulent company!

Good day, on Dec. 8th, 2024 I had a "technician" at come to my residence; to fix my upright freezer. He arrived at 3pm. He told me he fixed the problem however a Defrost kit/Evaporator ********* had to be replaced. He told me that the freezer will work for 7, 14, 30 days. When he left at 3:45pm, the temperature on my freezer showed 38F. I was hoping that the temperature would go down, as it needs to be at 7F to function properly. At approximately 5:05pm the temperature was 50F. I called The A Team Appliance repair. When I started to address my reason of calling, I was immediately interrupted by the woman who answered my call. She talked over me, then she placed me on hold for a VERY long time. After, her "supervisor" answered. Unfortunately, the same situation took place, talking over me, refused to hear what occurred at my residence. I paid 295 Can. dollars, for what was supposed to last 7, 14, 30 days and NOT 60 min! I am requesting a Full Refund. Thank you.

Washing Machine Repair - Misdiagnosed washing machine problem and replaced one of the most expensive components without trying the lesser expensive options first. More than willing to give part back that wasn't the problem. Service tech spent 10 mins diagnosing problem then tells me its a control board this will cost parts and labor $1000. Had to pay $700 upfront and then the remainder when the machine is working. I have to spend $100 in laundry for the month at the laundry **** in town. Tech comes back to replace the part and machine is still not working. Tells me He thinks we need to replace the lock now. I need to sign to to make sure I will pay the remaining amount and I refused to sign or pay any more money. Tech misdiagnosed problem and it should have only cost a few hundred dollars and the part could have been installed days later instead of over a month. I then received a phone call from A team appliances a week later telling me I must pay the remaining money or they will contact a collection agency. I told them if the think its fair they misdiagnosed a problem and are charging me for a part that was not needed. they replied do you think its fair to not pay for a part they paid for. I told them I'm more than willing to give them the part back as it is not needed. I feel like it would be fair to give them the part back and pay them for a labor cost but I should be reimbursed. I ended up fixing the appliance myself and all I needed was the lock to be fixed which is a $100 part and took me 15 mins to replace. At this point they don't deserve any money. If they were reputable company we could have come to an arrangement but this company seems like the want to scam money charge crazy amounts of money to repair parts without actually diagnosing the problem.
