Summary of the Issue: 1. On Feb 28, My FRIGIDAIRE dishwasher was experiencing intermittent failures with error codes i20/i30. 2. I contacted THE A TEAM APPLIANCE REPAIR, and they charged me $80 for a diagnosis, stating it would be deducted from the final repair cost. 3. Their technician suggested an initial $245 "service", which did not fix the issue. 4. He then claimed two parts (water controller & a valve) needed replacement, quoting $603.56 for parts and labor, pressuring me by stating a new dishwasher would cost over $1,000. 5. I paid $600 via e-transfer, and after a 5-day wait, the parts were "installed." 6. The issue persisted immediately, and after my complaint, another technician was sent on March 19. He claimed another part needed replacing for $700, which was not diagnosed earlier. 7. *********** refused a refund, was extremely rude, and insisted my only option was to pay more. ****************** for Investigation: ************ misleads customers, does not properly diagnose issues, and keeps demanding more money. They only accept cash or e-transfer, making it impossible for victims to dispute payments. I later found that their Trustpilot rating is 1.1 stars, and there are multiple fraud complaints against them on social media and even news channels. They advertise fake 5-star ratings through paid promotions, deceiving customers. I request the to investigate this company for potential fraud and deceptive trade practices. I am happy to provide supporting evidence, including receipts, messages, and online complaint links. Desired Outcome: 1. Investigation into fraudulent business practices.2. Assistance in recovering my lost $603.56.

On March 10th I called The A team appliance repair for my 1.5 yr old fridge freezer not cooling as it should. I qas quoted $80 service fee for a quote that would be deducted from cost of repairs if we moved forward. Tech showed up 1.5hrs lateral told us it was now 240$ plus tax to get a quote ( since we were desperate with a dull freezer we agreed but.felt this was bait and switch from go) and did not even ssspent 10 seconds looking at inside and said it was the main board and could be upto $1400 I declined right away as we only paid $800 for the freezer. He than insisted after spending 2 minutes in the rear.of it that it.was the fan at a cost of $400 plus the $240 plus tax. At this point we knew we were being lied to and told hom to leave. Paid the $271 and had another tech who offered a free quote.come ( in the 2hrs that passed the freezer began to once again reach optimal temperature) The new tech immediately realized the freezer had not been shut correctly as the seal was sticking out a.bit in a corner. He felt bad we had been completely taken advantage of by The A team appliance repair so disappointing not even charge us to stick it back in and we have had no issues ******** a perfect world I would like the return of my $271 since it was given under false pretenses. I learned a valuable ****** to always check out the company's you hire prior to calling.

Our dryer hasnt been drying clothes for a while. So I looked up a company that could help us with it. After looking them up on ****** and also their company site I saw that they had five stars. I also noticed that you couldnt leave areview on ****** but I tracked that up to a company error. I booked with them for March 13 between 10 and 1 PM they came one. The technician that showed up had no clue what to do with my appliance and then called his supervisor who came in opened my dryer, out some lid closed my dryer and then told me that I needed a new part. I asked him more times if he wasnt going to check lint trap that was above the dryer. He never answered me, but also never checked the lint trap. He told me it was going to cost me $327 for the labour they also left a huge mess of lint behind. I called the company the next morning to file a complaint and see what they could do, the manager told me that they could only offer 10% off on the part that he told me I needed and nothing more. Even though my contract that he signed and wrote up, says that I wouldnt be charged anymore than the parts. When I went on ****** to put a review I couldnt and when I went to the company site to leave a review with one star it automatically changed to five stars When I go on, my commentary has remained the same, but the stars are five so it is false advertisement because if anybody goes on there, they will see that they have five stars wouldnt actuality. They probably do not. I asked the manager to send a technician to actually service my appliance and she said no because hes already said what part we need. I told her he did not service my appliance. He came in and took out lunch. She hung up the phone.

We are reaching out regarding an issue with The A Team Appliance Repair, the appliance repair company we recently engaged for a dryer repair. When we scheduled the service call, we were informed that the service fee would be $80 plus tax, which would be waived if we proceeded with the repair. After inspecting our dryer, the technician provided a labor quote but was unable to provide a quote for the required part at the same time. He assured us he would get back to us with the total repair cost, including the part. When we received the complete quote, we were told that in order to proceed with repair we would need to pay 50% of the part cost and 100% of the labor cost upfront. We decided not to proceed with the repair as the price of repair was too high for 17 years old dryer and we paid the agreed-upon service fee of $80 plus tax. However, the company is now insisting that we also pay the labor cost, even though the repair was never completed and the part was never ordered. Despite this, the company is now demanding payment for labor and is threatening to involve a collection agency, which could negatively impact our credit score. This situation is concerning, as we do not believe we should be charged for labor when the repair was not done.We would appreciate your guidance on how to proceed with this issue. Please let us know the best course of action to resolve this matter.Thank you for your time and *************** regards,**** ********

    Hi,

Thank you for the update. Please see below the latest communication with The A Team Appliance Repair:

    Hi Ela,
Thank you for handling my case. I appreciate having a single point of contact moving forward.
Regarding the labour charge mentioned in your email, it appears to be a diagnostic fee rather than labour for the actual repair of the appliance. This fee was never previously communicated to me, and I do not believe it should be charged.
Additionally, I kindly request that all communication regarding this matter be conducted without repeated mentions of sending my account to collections, especially while the dispute remains unresolved. I would appreciate your clarification on why I am being charged for the appliance diagnosis.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
    Best regards,

    Hi Alla,

I am now handling your file and wanted to provide some clarification regarding the work performed on your appliance. When you initially contacted us, you mentioned that your dryer was not heating. Our technician examined the heating system and the mainboard. Specifically, the technician checked for any broken or defective parts within the heating system and also verified the connection between the mainboard and the rest of the appliance. After thorough inspection, it was determined that the issue was due to the mainboard not connecting to the timer.
I hope this clears up what the labor was for.
As we have communicated multiple times via phone and email, there is an outstanding balance of $226 that remains unpaid. We require that this payment be made within the next week. If payment is not received by the end of this week, your file will be forwarded to collections.
Please let us know when you will be able to make the payment.
    Thank You kindly,
    Ela

    Customer Answer

Dear ******************* you for your update. The invoice provided by the company was sent to me via email on March 5th, three weeks after the technician visited the unit.
During discussions regarding the charges on this invoice, it was explained to me that the $80.00 service fee is solely a show-up fee (page 2 of 1st attachment), and the labor charges listed on the invoice are not for repairing the appliance but rather for diagnosing the issue. This appears to be a diagnostic fee that was never disclosed to me in advance.
In my communication with the company, I clearly stated that I am willing to pay the diagnostic fee if they can provide evidence that this fee was disclosed to me at the time of placing the service order or direct me to where it is stated on their website. However, the company responded that this information is printed on the back of the invoice. Since this invoice was issued only after the technician arrived at the property, it cannot serve as proof of prior disclosure.
Additionally, I have attached a printout from the companys website. On the second page, under the section labeled Price," (page 2 of 2nd attachment) it explicitly states that the company will provide the labor cost before the job is done. In my case, however, I only received the invoice after the work was completed.
Furthermore, I would like to bring to your attention that the company has repeatedly threatened to file this matter for collection and negatively impact my credit score in every communication. I find this approach to be aggressive and a violation of my consumer rights, as I have the right to be informed of charges upfront and to go through a fair dispute process without intimidation.
Please find below the details of my communication with the company for your review:

Transaction date: Feb 23 Amount: $868.90 Found through ****** ads but later found out they were *********** dishwasher stopped working a few weeks back so I contacted a company to come take a look (The A Team Appliance Repair -*****************************************************************). They mentioned that there would be a $80 charge to analyze the problem, when they arrived the person looked and mentioned the motherboard was not working and needed to be replaced. The overall service charge was then upped to $290 and the new part was going to be ~$450, for an all-in price of $868.90 (+taxes). They mentioned they only received cash or e-transfer, I agreed to send an e-transfer but after weeks of calling them to see where things stand they just keep mentioning that the parts have not come in yet when they mentioned it would only take 2-3days. I then reviewed further and found out that this company is a scam as noted in the TrustPilot website (The A Team Appliance Repair Reviews | ********************* Reviews of *******************************************************) which is where I made a mistake of not checking before calling and committing to this company.

Called to schedule a repair person to come to my home to look at my stove. Was told that there was an $80 fee and once my issue was diagnosed, the repair person would give me a labour/parts quote and that at that time I could decide if I wanted to proceed or not. If not, the $80 fee would apply. The repair person told me it would be 275+part and the total was $310 (so far no actual work had been done, just a diagnostic which was what the $80 was to cover). I paid the $310 and then the repair person told me it was going to be an additional $675 for the part!!! They mislead me into believing that the $310 was all encompassing and charged me for labour that was NOT incurred. I called customer service and they stated that labour chargers were non-refundable. I explained the situation to the customer service representative and she just continuously said there was nothing she could do and the fees were non-refunable not acknowledging the fact that no parts or actual labour, outside of a diagnostic, was performed.I told them that I should only have been charged $80 and asked for a refund of $230 and they refused and hung up.

I know someone who fixes appliances he advised me to call ** to repair because it seems to need a compressor. I googled ** however the site I clicked was not ** and I was not aware of this as it said ** Repairs...I made an appointment with them and they came the next day as scheduled. The man spent a few minutes looking at the fridge. Took out a few screws and put them back in. He told me he reset both the range and the refrigerator. He said the refrigerator should be running 6-8hrs then stop but it seemed to have been running non-stop so he reset it and it will be fine. He said leave it plugged in and after 3 hours it will be fine. He wrote up the invoice and I could not read his writing. He explained what he wrote and that if it does not work he will come back and fix it for free. After this I paid by debit. He gave me the receipt and left. I called after 4 hours noticing the fridge was still not working the person on the phone advised that as per the invoice the fridge needs a compressor. The man who serviced the fridge only stated the fridge just needed resetting which could have been caused by a power outage.

On dec 12th, 2024 The A Team appliance repair technician came for a Microwave problem and did repair the issue. He saw the fridge light was not working and offered to fix it.The technician placed an order for the parts for the fridge at the cost of $353+tax, total 399 dollars. Receipt available. On Jan 14 th, 2025 the technician brought the parts and tried to fix the fridge and found that the problem was something different. He actually brought 3 bulb holders for $399. He called the company and said to me that they were unable to fix the problem and would refund the whole cost. Another receipt with instruction of refund is available When I called for refund their finance person said, they cannot give $399 but would give $223 and they refunded $223. It was no fault of mine. The technician assumed something, and ordered parts without knowing the problem. When they tried with new parts that they ordered, it didnt work. They didnt know what was the problem, and they gave up later. Why should I pay $176 for their mistake. I never called them to see this mistake. They noticed this while doing another repair.First of all, $399 for 3 bulb holders is unrealistic price. I want them to send me the balance $176.
