On Friday October 14th I had 2 employees of MorConnect show up at my door, telling me that I am paying too much for electricity and that they could make my bill cheaper with a credit. Sounded great... but things went downhill from there, They filled out paperwork with my information and then had another woman call me to confirm the information, however the employees at my place told me to lie to the woman on the phone and say they were off my property during the phone call, which they weren't. They pointed to "yes" and "no" on the paperwork as the woman asked me the questions, coaching me on what to say, this is when I started to get nervous. When they left they never gave me the yellow copy of the paperwork, which is also troublesome. After they leave I come online to find out that this is basically a scam and that they will be charging me some fee that they never explained, I am not in fact getting a credit becuse of this charge. I would like my contract cancelled, and my information, including my banking information wiped as this business is clearly not legitimate.Customer Answer

This company has door to door sales people stating they will help you with your energy bill by providing a carbon offset to cover your energy bill Their Sales rep came to my building on July 13 2022 – her name is ******* badge number ****** – This Rep stated they were helping home owners to offset the Hydro bill by providing refunds through your energy bill. They advise you will get a refund of $25 every month in your account and they ask you to sign a direct deposit form. I have been trying to get some one on the phone for over 3 months and very time you call they will just take your information down to have the company MR connect call you as they are a third party company/ receptionist for them. I eventually threatened legal action after three months of calling them on the phone and all I got was an email from them finally providing me with a copy of my contract that had I received in the mail within their 30 day free cancellation ii would have bene able to cancel . When i advised in writing my wish to cancel they told me I had to pay them $456 for cancellation per the signed contract that I never had a copy of until last week. They are scammer even after false adverting and taking money out of your account for no reason they will still want you to pay to get out of the contract you never have copy of until its too late. And they never explain how long this contract will last. was misled by the salesman and taken advantaged of. I am very appalled by their actions just to gain business. They should not be in the business and I hope that many more of victims of their sales scam will come forward with complaints so that others will not be a victim. I am still fighting to get this cancelled with no penalty

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:i never personally read any contract. Your sales advisor never mentioned a one time credit she said it would be monthly. The confirmation call was never made from my call nor did i have a copy of the contract to go through it and actually read what i was signing.
Regarding someone reaching out to me that is very untrue. That only happened after i threatened legal action after several weeks of reaching out.
i also did send an email requesting a cancellation and was advised of a cancellation fee i do not acknowledge or wish to pay due to all the above and how the sales agent practically lied and deceived me into this agreement. Take this as a 2nd formal request for cancellation with no fees being charged.

Hi last November 2021 a girl came to my door told me I qualify for upgrades of thermostat and smoke detectors. Then they made a phone call and within minutes a Mor connect representative showed up and assured me that I was eligible for the upgrade of the **** thermostat and smoke detectors no charge. He (the representative/technition) made a phone call and the person who answered also assured me that there no charge. When I agreed to the **** products he wrote up what I thought was work order and asked me to sign it. He told me I was going to be contacted and to confirm the #number on the top of the Yellow copy. When I was contacted the caller asked for the number on the Yellow copy and asked if I agreed to installation of smoke detectors and attic insulation I said yes to what I thought was upgrades at no charge. At that time I did not know that I signed a lease agreement for 5 years. They made an appointment to install the proucts. There was nothing said by the( representative / technition ) anything about attic insulation. When the( representative/ technition) came to do the installation of the smoke detectors he said he was also going to insulate the attic no charge as part of the package so I allowed it. Later on I found out Morconnect were charging me a monthly payment for the smoke detectors and attic insulation. I called Morconnect and told them there representative/technition told me that there was no charge for these products and that I did not want them and to come and take them out . representative had lied to me about the products and that I didn't want them and couldn't afford it. I already signed the leases and she took my direct deposit details and also my debit pre authorization .I was mislead English is my secondary language and been charged by Morconnect every month $90, $33.8 , twice a time $22.34 which I cannot afford and I would never been agreed to it . I request please cancel my lease agreement from Morconnet.Customer Answer

On November 2nd, 2, 2021 I purchased a service to upgrade my thermostat &
Smoke detector systems in my home from morConnect inc who claimed the service would be done at no charge. In fact, they claimed I am eligible for this upgrade as an existing customer and even entitled to a $25 rebate. I am fairly new to Canada and my English is not the best. I am even getting my brother-in-law to help write this statement as my English is not great. My husband is actually enrolled in ESL classes and does not qualify for some job just due to lack of language ability. Ultimately, I got tricked into thinking this salesperson was a member of the existing utility company that I am subscribed with. He was not being clear with his communication and I nervously accepted the agreement. You can imagine being an immigrant in a new country not wanting to look like an illiterate person. I just went with what was being said. The purchase agreement was signed at my home located at 77-1919 Trafalgar street in London by a ‘door to door’ salesperson. The business is claimed to be located at ** ************* **** ***** ***** **** ************ ******* (salesperson) said his company would upgrade my smoke detector system plus perform attic insulation work . Contrary to what was agreed upon, they have been charging monthly when the original agreement was something else.
I want to cancel the lease agreement and obtain a refund of $835. Please also remove the pre authorization agreement that exists with morconnect. No more funds are to be taken out.
I have enclosed a copy of the receipt/invoice/agreement in support of my claim. * ** * ****** ** *** ***** ***** *** ** ******* **** **** ******** **** * ***** **** *** ********* ********* ** *** **** ****** ****** ******** ** **** **** **********

September 20, 2022, a man showed up on my door and he presented himself as a Morconnect employee, an ******** gas partner, saying that I may have been overcharged on my gas bill and made me sign forms for a rebate for $25 and called the company Morconnect for me to confirm my information. The man said that my ‘Charges for Natural Gas’ from my bill would be reduced drastically. I signed the contract but later I found out that It was a scam and I am bond to an agreement for 60 months. I also realized that I have to pay $33.84 every month for 60 months to Morconnect and this amount will be charged on my gas bill. The employee didn't tell me this when I signed the documents. I gave a call to the customer care to cancel the agreement and gave my details. They responded back saying it will take 2-3 business days for them to reach back. Please help me to cancel this agreement. Thank you.Customer Answer

On March 21, 2022 a representative of MorConnect came to my home and said that I could qualify for rebate on my ******** gas bill. She took my ******** account information and added it to a form which she had me sign, after that she call the company (MorConnect) and coached me on how I should respond to the representative. I got suspicious when the person on the phone asked me if the representative was still there with me and she "the representative" told be to say no. I asked her why I could not tell them that she was there with me she said that " I'm suppose to leave because they like me to continue going because I gets paid hourly but she stayed to help you with the call". On September 12, 2022 I checked my ******** bill to see why it was significantly higher than the previous month and that's when I saw that I was being charged for a service call "****** ****** **** ************** ******". I call ******** to enquiry about the increased bill and they said it was because the bill was an estimated bill. I then asked then about the suspicious charge and they said they did not know what it was. The told me, because it was listed under the section of the bill for "Changes from other companies" I needed to contact them. I ******* ""****** ****** **** ************** ******" and got a number for the company, they told me that they were just an answering service and would pass my query to the company and have them call me back. They called back and that's when I found out it was MorConnect charging me for this service of which I still don't know what it is. The representative that came to my home did not mention this service at all or did not tell me I was signing up to pay for a service. MorConnect sent me a contract to sign to cancel the monthly service but stated that they will not be refunding the amount already paid. I have been paying $33.84 since April 2022 and I need your help to get back my money because their representative misrepresented the information to me.Customer Answer

On Aug 18, a salesgirl named ******* from morConnect knocked my door and said she represented ********. She said ******** sent her because the company found they overcharged the gas bill, then I could join a program to fix my gas bill on a cap rate of around $39/month, instead of the amount we are paying. I was WFH and busy, so I signed the contract without seeing the details. Then, she said there is a rebate from ********, I could get up to $5000 by installing a thermostat and smoke detector, and filling the attic. I told her I’ve had the rebate by refilling the attic in 2018. She said this year, there is a new standard, so I could fill more to get that rebate. And she took my property bill, gas bill, and bank info, and after a while, she came back and said I was qualified for the rebate. Then I signed another two contracts. During the call with ******** who checked my acknowledge about these contracts because my English is not good enough, she manipulated me by muting the phone call from the representative, talking to me, and letting me repeat what she said so that I did not hear what the representative said. Then she said she needed some time to file the rebate, and she would send me an e-copy and mail a hard copy in a week, so left without giving me any copy of these contracts. On Aug 19, two guys from morConnect came and installed one thermostat and two smoke detectors and filled the attic in a little volume, and they took the previous ones I installed in 2018, without noticing me.
This week I got the call from ******** representative and said I could not get the rebate, and there is no rebate on the thermostat, smoke detectors and attic. Then I tried to contact ******* she ghosted me, and I called morConnect, they let us wait. Therefore, I don’t have any contract copy and don’t know what I have signed. And she took my important info and can charge whatever they want. Please help me terminate the contracts.Customer Answer
