1 starThis company is very unprofessional, dishonest and not trustworthy.I gave a deposit of ******** on February 17th,2023 to install a new door in my house.First appointment for installation cancelled because supposedly the technician went to the wrong warehouse to pick up the door..Second appointment for installation, the technician brings the wrong door and has to take it back and told a new door will be ordered.Waited approximately 6 weeks to get a call back and I'm told that the door that was ordered was the wrong model and that they will need to reorder the door. No apologies. This is now towards the end of April,I'm told it will take anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks to get the supposedly correct new door. Finally in August, 6 months after the purchase 'Im told they now have the correct door and scheduled appointment to install the door on August 4th.The morning of my appointment I received a call from the company telling me that the technician went to the wrong warehouse again to pick up the door and appointment will need to be rescheduled.Never spoke to a trustworthy person in that company. Multiple times asked to speak to supervisor, but they were always busy. Call back calls were promised but never came.I needed to change my work schedule three different times for nothing.Last I spoke to someone at the company I asked to cancel the order and I was told it will be cancelled and my deposit refunded. Do I believe that? Certainly not from a DISHONEST, IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY.There is nothing A1 about that company. If you are thinking of buying a new garage door or servicing your current one, do yourself a favor and call someone else.It happened to me and certainly it can happen to you. You are warnedReview fromBill S

1 starWhen I called A-1 Garage Door Service, I explained that I needed the belt replaced. When the tech was on the way, I asked if he had the part on his truck and he said "in all likelihood."When the tech arrived he said the belt was no longer made and that I'd have to replace the entire garage door motor.I have since found the belts on Amazon. I called another local garage door company who told me to call the manufacturer since these belts are warranted for life. I did so, and I have a new belt on the way for free (I'm sure A-1 must know that). I will have the 2nd company install it, not A-1.A-1 can't be trusted to provide honest service with bait and switch tactics. Buyer beware.Review fromNancy I

5 starsJordan T was awesome! He showed up on time and got the job done within an hour. He also performed maintenance on the track and hinges which I wasn't expecting. I loved the price - it was the lowest of four bids for a broken spring. I also love the lifetime warranty but hopefully I won't have to use it...Review fromJoseph V

1 starTerrible service, A1 lied about their pricing and when the repair man responded tried to do services not ask for. Crooks!Review fromLori R.

One star only because the guy came out fast to assess door when it came off track. Everything beyond that is below zero. Buyer beware, these people are slippery! I was scared into believing I needed a new door. Once reality set in, I tried canceling the order. They give you 3 days, I sent certified letter that arrived next day. No one has helped me yet and it's 5 days now. They're still holding my deposit. Not only that but I keep getting emails to sign loan documents... I never agreed to any loan.. it's trickery! The 2nd repair place that came out to assess garage door showed us that the parts the A1 guy installed were used...prob from another job the tech assumed. So I got charged $325 for a few mins of work and 2 used rollers. Apparently these rollers are a $7 part. Once again, trickery! Customer ********************** just keeps passing the buck over & over. I've been running in circles for days trying to get my order canceled and my 4K deposit back. They're stalling it by saying this person will call you, or that person will call you. One rep claims to see a cancel request, another doesn't. Be prepared for many headaches if you get involved with this place. Oh, and by the way I should mention that the same exact garage door package they tried selling me for over $8,000, is available elsewhere for $1,700. However, once a tech came out from a different company, used new parts and fixed it properly, it turns out I don't even need to replace the door! The point of my story is be careful who you deal with. If they are making it seem urgent, don't fall prey. I see now that both repair tech and person on the phone are part of a bait & switch tactic. I should've asked for a 2nd opinion but I was home alone, my husband was at work, and I wanted to get door issue resolved. I was tricked into thinking I had to act fast. That's a tactic they use. I wonder if I will ever get my deposit returned. Also, I don't even know who applied me for financing? Another headache to deal with.A1 Garage Door Service

I do apologize for this experience, and we have no problem refunding the down payment for the door. If financing was not needed then that is a mistake on our part and will own it. I will also say the warranty and quality of the door chosen is way beyond whatever this other company said they would do for 1700$. We have issued the refund of the down payment today and it will take ***** business days to process. Also, we did not even replace any parts on the original service, we just reset the door as it hung itself and it was off track.Lori R.

I was I informed via this portal and also over the phone that my refund (minus fees for work performed) would be refunded. Here I am, close to 2 weeks later and no action at all. Just called A1 accounting **** only to learn that no refund request has been issued. This discovery is further evidence about the way this place operates. A refund should never take more than a few days to process. That's if a refund is issued. Which, in my case it hasn't been. I have waited patiently, now I will be elevating this review to a full complaint.. and also reporting to my credit card issuerReview fromKim C

I contacted this vendor and wanted a tune up. ***** was the tech that arrived in October of 22. He was quite the sale ***************** he tried to sell me this and that. He finally convinced me to buy new springs. He started at the life time warranty and when I said the door was older & that it didnt make sense to spend this much money he showed me options. He put a scale under the door and stated that my door was over weight when closing and that new springs would fix this & provide a better seal on the sides. He also said I needed new brackets. This cost to me was over $600.A few month later the door was grinding and slamming again and I could see gaps on the sides. Unfortunately due to a death in the family, I put this on hold till last week. At first they were not going to send anyone out at all. I explained the death of my granddaughter and they sent ***** again. Once again he tried to sell me thousands of dollars of upgrades. I refused and wanted him to fix what should of been covered under my 2 year warranty. He wanted to sell me a tune up again. I said I had already paid for this several months before. He said he can guarantee that next October my springs will need to be replaced, also my motor, and on & on. What he was NOT guaranteeing was the work he had all ready done & I paid for. I said please just fix what I already paid for. He got up on his ladder and slammed both sides of the springs very aggressively and sprayed stuff on the hinges.. This took 3 minutes total. I asked for a invoice for today. He stated no because I would just give him a bad review. Then said I wanted to be totally honest with you. You got what you paid for. I said, good day *****. I called the office and reported him. The person on the phone said, that isnt right and that I would get a call back from the owner. A few hours later I got a email stating I got a 29 point inspection and all was well. ***** did not do a 29 point inspection. Again a lie.A1 Garage Door Service

We apologize for this experience. However, we did do a 29 point safety inspection. We are obligated to let you know of failing parts and provide the options. We shoot for the long term fixes and not just the band aid fixes. This door was in rough shape and ************** was trying to fix the door in its entirety, which the customer refused and just thought we were selling. We were showing her all the failed parts which had rust and grime all over them. We have photos showing this. We were ************** this customer know which parts of hers were failing, which again, we have an obligation to do. This customer just thought we were selling, when in fact she just has multiple failing parts which she declined to fix. We had replaced springs which DO have a 2 year PARTS warranty. That was not the only issue with the door. The rest of the door and parts are not covered under the parts warranty for the springs. This absolutely could have been handled better by **************, but this complaint is not entirely accurate.Kim C

In response to the 29 points inspection. I was given this the First time. With an actual inspection with photos and the work actually being done, ending with a signature. The 2nd time ***** came out, I requested a written invoice of all the parts he indicated I needed repairs on, or in short his treatment plan. Once again he went on & on about what WAS going to fail with my door. He refused and said NO, that I will just use this to write a bad review. Then about a hour later he emailed me a ************************************************ the green. Meaning it passed, with no photos or signature. A generic form. Please note: (Much different from what he had told me in person just a hour before.) I laughed in disbelief as to what a smart aleck he was. This so called inspection was him slamming the sides of my new springs and spraying stuff on the sides of the door. Period!!! This took all of 3 minutes. In the visit prior to this he convinced me I needed new springs and brackets which I paid for plus a tune up. As far as multiple parts that were failing not true! This company is only interested in selling and not guaranteeing the work they have already done. They could work on their customer ********************** as well. Slamming my new springs and throwing tools and the ladder in the truck was scary and unnecessarily aggressive. Not to mention when he first arrived he asked me the what the problem was? When I told him, he said lets see and proceed to close the door and then again open it. He looked at me and said and? I said it is grinding and slamming. You convinced me to buy new springs and now it is the same as when you came the first time. I mentioned my worse fear is getting stuck in here and being late to work. I am too short to reach that release cord. He looked and me and asked, do you want me to get you a longer string? GOOD GRIEF!!!! NO, I want you to fix what I paid for a few months earlier.Kim C

The technician had no knowledge of what was wrong with my door or else he was trying to cheat me because when he finish, the door was worse off than what it was when he started then he try to state I need a new garage door opener which I didnt because I had another company come out and they put a trolley on and thats all I needed and it only took them 15 minutesA1 Garage Door Service

We apologize for this experience. If we left your door in different shape we would have set up a recall at no cost. We always try to provide long term solutions, not band aid fixes.Review fromKathy S
