Please learn from my mistake in choosing A-1 Garage and falling for their various schemes. They have so many hidden fees and zero transparency in pricing --customers should ********* house is approximately 2 years old. We have two garage bays, one of which is rarely used. The rarely used bay was stuck open with the cable off the spool. Our technician said we couldn't just fix the cable and spool. We'd need a new spring too. He showed me three options/estimates depending on the quality of the spring we wanted to buy. He installed, completed the work, and then looked at our main garage which I knew had been squeaking loudly. Again, the technician suggested we needed to replace that spring too. If we didn't address it, the motor might go out which is even more expensive or worse yet, the garage door might fall on our cars, a person, etc. It all seemed very sensical at the time, despite these being 2-year old garages. He finished his work and the final invoice came over. In addition to the springs, and the $59 "trip charge" to cover travel expenses, time, fuel, and vehicle wear and tear, we saw: * Labor rate $165x2 * Standard tune-up $79x2 * Hung door $271.45 * 8ft cables $168.83 * Center bearings $77.46 * Deluxe sealed ball bearing rollers $371.77 * Shop supply fee $139.47 After reviewing this invoice in full, it's very embarrassing that we got so swindled by A-1 Garage's dishonest scheme of selling people fixes that aren't needed and adding so many fees (that you aren't aware of) that are essentially double payment for ridiculous things. Consumers should beware.

Broken spring on daughters garage door- person came out & gave $1500 quote- I spoke with him because I felt this was a huge overcharge- with attitude I was told it was all necessary- sent him away and called competitor- they fixed the door for $400. A1 tried to take advantage of our young daughter thinking she wouldnt know the difference- fortunately I was involved and dodged this grossly inflated price- A1 is unethical & people should know!

The tech they sent out was nice and efficient however, shame on me for not researching what a new garage door motor and installation should cost. I feel taken advantage of as a new widow. If you ****** "average professional installation for garage door motors" it says $275-$725. (I had already approved a higher price and the tech was already installing the unit). When I asked the tech why was mine $1300 he tried to help by giving me a $100 coupon. But still, that means I am paying $500 more than the highest average. Shame on me. Please, do your homework before agreeing to have the work done. ****** learned. I don't trust this company any longer.

Poor install and no response back to fix the problem. I have wires and staples all over my garage, the unite isnt wired but has an extension cord plugged into an outlet to allow operation. The wall where the main opener is installed is loose. The installer didnt act like he knew anything about installing anything. He didnt turn the electricity off at my box. Said he didnt need to. Then, he caused the breaker to flip off. But, he wasnt bright enough to figure that. They said company said they were local but had an old faded truck with a ************************************ his card but hasnt returned my call. They charged over $700 for the install and opener which was the cheapest option. On the phone the quoted $500 to $600 installed. We didnt have any new rollers or other things fixed. Just the opener and the wall mount an 2 openers. This is a ripe off. They claim to be on Angies list of top garage door specialists. I deserve better. But, Im 75 and thats what crooks do when you are my age. Dont use them, I rate them No stars.

I was sorry I ever called them. I called for the tune-up special and they proceeded to tell me everything had to be replaced, to the tune of over $2000.00. Of course the said it could be financed. It was my fault for not sending them away. That was a lot of money for a woman alone on Social Security. I will never call for a special again. I called and told them I wished to God I had never called them.

I'm surprised to see all the five star reviews for this company. Garage door fixes isn't rocket science. So it's a matter of how much out of pocket you're ok with. My wife made an appointment with A1 Garage because she saw a low cost "garage door tune-up" promotion. Before I could cancel the appointment because I know there's no such thing as a "garage door tune-up" this tech shows up and we spent nearly $400 for new nylon rollers. I'm the fool because I should have sent this con man on his way. The tech then quoted us over $1000 for new springs. I said no. ****** learned, don't let A1 get near your house. We usually work with a local garage door company whom, by the way told me that new nylon rollers would cost us about $100 including installation. A1 reps will try to hard sell you. Don't go for it. Do your homework. Get quotes. A1 is very high pressure. Two days after their visit, one of the two springs broke. My wife thinks A1 did something so it would break and we'd call them back. Our local garage door company said it was probably just a coincidence. Again, buyer beware with A1 Garage *************
