A-1 Garage Door Service was called to replace two garage door "springs" by an elderly widower, my father. No price was quoted before hand, and A-1 Garage Door Service was previously ********* Garage Door who the homeowner had used previously at a fair market price. After replacing the springs, an electronic tablet was handed to the homeowner to sign. It was only then that he realized he had been grievously overcharged with a cost of $873.00. WOW! I decided to call the local A-1 Garage Door Service today after receiving quotes from SIX other garage door companies. Those prices ranged from $300 to $350 and they all included a warranty. The woman I spoke with said someone would get back with me in five business days. I asked for a callback today, and she said I'd just have to wait. Then, because A-1 Garage Door Service is a nationwide company, I decided to contact the company via their customer ********************** number posted on the national website. The woman was snippy and argued with me - saying they did not overcharge - even though I was willing to give her the names of the local companies I had contacted this morning. Again, I was told that there were no guarantees on when someone would call me back, but at some point I'd hear from someone. Knowing that she was in AZ and they are two hours behind *******, **, in time zones, I asked for someone to call me before 4:00 p.m. AZ time - which was reasonable in my opinion as I called in the morning hours. I did tell both women I spoke with today that I didn't hear back from someone today, I would be reporting them to the BBB for grossly overcharging an elderly man - which is actually considered elderly exploitation. It's now evening in ******* and I have not heard a word from back. So to ANYONE considering using A-1 Garage Door Service, do yourself a HUGE favor and look elsewhere. You can get the same job done at one-third of the cost. If there was a ZERO star option, that's exactly what I would give this company.A1 Garage Door Service

If I could give negative rating, I would give that.One of the worst company to work with. I had to get two garage door installed. I knew that those garage doors were heavy and hence I sent the pictures of those doors to sales person. After looking at the pictures and door openers, I got a quote which was higher than other company I was talking to. Other company for by reference but they could not install door for a month. When I talked to sales person, I clearly asked whether they can install earlier than a month and I was told that yes, I will have appointment in two weeks but I have to deposit 50% of the cost.. That was back in Early November. One day before the appointment I get a call that my appointment have to be rescheduled because they did not book two tech to install both doors. I waited for an hour but finally they figured out to help me.Two tech came over and looked at both doors and garage door openers. They installed one door but not the opener. They did not install second door. Two new tech came back two weeks later to install the second door and opener. This time also they did not install the opener either and said first two tech will come back to install the opener. There was almost no communication by the company on getting those openers installed even after following up many times. Only once I managed to get it escalated and I was told that for all the inconvenience I was be credited $600 from my invoice.After this only time they contacted me is to collect remaining balance but not to complete the work. I had hired another company after getting frustrated but they contacted me right after that to collect money and I was told that they will try to make this right but then again there was no follow up. If anyone is trying to get garage door installation, you are better off not having garage door then having garage door installed by A1 garage company.A1 Garage Door Service

When I didn't qualify for the same as cash, ******************************* tech out of Tuscon working in *********** NM, said I could write a post dated check for services. I agreed because my online bank takes 3 days to transfer money over $1000. Needless to say, the check was deposited hours later and caused me all sorts of problems and fees with ***** Fargo. I also felt that ***** was trying to sell me everything but the kitchen sink. ******************************* is not a man of his word. Very disappointed!A1 Garage Door Service

Beware and not use this company. I called them out because my garage door was opening randomly. The guy sold me not only a garage door opener but everything else and a warranty and the warranty for the garage door was like $600 and I come to find out that the opener is guaranteed for one year for free. He gave me the senior rate of $157 then I noticed the $157 was built in to another cost so really I did not get the discount. My neighbor had the same problem and said to me, why did you need to buy a new garage door opener? Yours worked fine, all you needed to do was change the code on your garage and I thought about it and I thought why did he sell me a new opener my neighbor used and had the same problem as me we think that the technician was ripping us off because we were single ladies. I was charged $3,000 . I wish there was a place that I could post a copy of my invoice.I dont want this to happen to anyone else. My neighbor would be willing to write something also. This company pushes it employees to sell unnecessary parts that *** not be needed, to win paid time off and commission! I needed a spring replaced, knowing that I should have the other replaced, at the same time, at an additional cost. The employee took apart the whole lifting system, which I did Not witness. He could have swapped out Bad Parts, bearings and cables from his truck for all I knew! A repair of $853 quickly went to $1425 with a$75 off coupon. ALL OF THE ADDITIONAL PARTS HAD THE SAME EXACT PRICE!7ft cables (pair) $153.34 Bearing end plates $153.34 Safety drum pair for doors up to 12 high. My door is standard size. $153.34 Double spring replacement $627.36 Standard labor charge $165.00 Mandatory trip charge $39.00 Shop supplies fee: $68.44 Minus $75.00 off coupon. Grand total was $1428.34 in order to even get my car out of the garage that day. I felt pressured and helpless. I felt obligated to pay after he took everything apart! They upsold me on a garage door spring once. Called them again to install a garage door opener and they tried to sell me brand new garage doors. Called another company and they did just what I needed at a fraction of A1's price. They also ripped off my neighbor. I would not recommend them.A1 Garage Door Service

A1 is a fraud and has the worst customer **********************. They came to give me a quote for 8x7 garage door, no opener, $4200.00, and were pushing to apply for a loan to cover it!!! I went to ********** and had the e EXACT same door installed for $1500.00. I do believe a lot had to do with being a woman, but wow, watch out for them!!A1 Garage Door Service

5 stars***** from Ideal Garage serviced our garage door. He was prompt, friendly, and honest. He explained all of his findings thoroughly and spent a great deal of time reviewing all of the systems. We felt he did a great job, and our unit operates much more smoothly and quietly after the service. Even though my husband left our discount coupon at his office, ***** still honored the coupon price. We would highly recommend this company.
