I have documentation that I attempted to cancel service prior to the May 5th, 2022 bill. They have continued to bill me and are sending me to collections. They would not come out to pick up the containers. They also wanted to charge me $30 to pick up the containers; we returned them ourselves.

Acct was closed on wrong date (end of month) so we are crediting the entire month of May since he didn't have service and we are also crediting off late fees and SI fees as well. Called and left a voicemail for the customer that we would be taking care of this for him. Credits have been entered on the account. He also did bring the container back to Springfield location and no charges on that were on invoice

I bought an office building in March of 2021. The previous owner had an existing contract in place with Republic Services for trash services. I contacted Republic and switched the account over to my name. I was told the contractual term was for a minimum of one year. In May of 2022 I sold this office building to another buyer. That buyer told me "I will never give Republic Services one dime of my money, they are the worst to deal with." He is a general contractor/property investor with numerous properties throughout our area (over 50). I cancelled the contract in May of 2022. I paid the last invoice in full. I have received a phone call and a statement saying I owe another $272.21 for dumpster removal, environmental and fuel fee, etc. They are charging me to pick up their dumpster that was there years and years before I bought the building, I fulfilled my full year contract with them. This is insane and I now see why the new buyer will not deal with them. I cannot get anyone from Republic Services to explain why I have to pay $272.21 for them to pick up their dumpster when I fully fulfilled the terms of my contract and that particular dumpster has been on site for years and years and years.

******* was having some issues with the fees associated with getting his account closed. There was an error charged to him for the removal of his dumpster that was the wrong amount. Our rep reached out to him and let him know that Republic Services was crediting him the overage charge to rectify this situation for him. ******* had asked when the credit will be applied, we told him 2-3 days, and he was happy with this.

Dear Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Republic Services, Inc.,

Re: Termination of contract with Republic Services, Inc.
      Account Number **************
I’ve had several conversations with Republic Services customer care, and local account manager about the monthly charges. The monthly service charges are always more greater than the agreed upon price per the signed contract between B & H Tran Investments, Inc and Republic Services, Inc. These overages have been a on-going matter and have yet to be resolved. To not be in default, I’ve had to pay these overpriced monthly service charges to Republic Services, Inc.

After many unsuccessful attempts to resolve this matter, I am requesting a termination of the agreement between B & H Tran Investments, Inc and Republic Services, Inc. on the basis that the amount due monthly is not the agreed upon price per the signed contract between B & H Tran Investments, Inc and Republic Services, Inc. The agreed upon monthly service charge ranges between $109.00 - $115.00, however the most recent invoice (Invoice date: June 30, 2022; Invoice Number: *************** stated a balance of $253.27. I’m under the impression that Republic Services, Inc. is charging whatever amount they deemed fit, instead of charging the amount per the signed contract.

As stated, I would like to terminate the current agreed upon contract between B & H Tran Investments, Inc and Republic Services, Inc. In addition, I am requesting a refund for overages from August 1, 2019 to the current bill sent on June 30, 2022.

For your convenience, I’ve attached the following documents relating to the matter between Republic Services, Inc..- B & H Tran Investments, Inc , Account #*************** **** ******* *** ******** ** ******

** The signed contract on July 30, 2019 with the Republic Services’ Proposal.
2/ Republic Services’ monthly statements and B & H Tran Investments’ payment history from July,30,2019 to present.
      3/ Republic Services’ invoice

Sales Supervisor has followed up with the customer. Customer is under a valid contract. We offered to send the customer a new proposal with a flat offer with rate restrictions per customers request but customer is not willing to work with us. We offered to lower customers overages but customer is not willing to pay any. Customer refused and stated they did not want a proposal sent to them. Customer was informed that their Account Manager would be sending information to cancel their account.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 08/17/2022

      Good morning,

      There are some following points:

** Firm rate and increased 10 % for each year.

Attached is the small important part on the signed contract on July 19, 2019, on which the firm rate for 1st year is $99.67  from August 01, 2019 through August 01, 2020 and increased 10% for each year thereafter.

I have requested the firm rate or fixed rate should last for the duration of the contract.

In fact, the monthly bills from the  Republic Services company are usually a bit higher than the fixed price, which is temporarily acceptable.

2/ The overage charges are unacceptable, because for the following reasons:

The Republic Services doesn't do anything but while the consumer has to pay $60 plus extra charges with the high amount, the surcharge amount is too high.

I am willing to accept the overage charges, if the Republic Services Company certifies that they did something extra such as they took out the trash a second time.

      Best regards,

      *** ****

      ************

I am willing to accept the Company's additional penalty fee if the garbage company certifies that they did something extra such as they took out the trash a second time.

      Business Response

      Date: 08/18/2022

      We have offered the rate
restrictions and customer is unwilling to pay overages. If the container has
more trash than allotted, we charge overages and the driver takes a picture for
the overages. We can provide these photos to the customer when requested.

Re:   Termination of Contract with Republic Services, Inc. / Account Number: **************

Dear Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Republic Services, Inc.,

On behalf of B & H Tran Investments, Inc., I, *** **** will address the following within this letter to support my claim against Republic Services, Inc. and to my contract with Republic Services, Inc. be terminated:
      1.       Contract Signed and Early Renewal of Contract between B & H Tran Investments and Republic Services
      2.       Republic Services Overcharge
      3.       B & H Tran Investments, Inc. Payment History
      4.       Billing Adjustment Needed on Republic Services’ Behalf
      5.       Republic Services’ Negative Treatment Towards B & H Tran Investments, Inc.
      6.       Immediate Action Request

Early Renewal of Contract between B & H Tran Investments and Republic Services
B & H Tran Investments, Inc. signed a contract with Republic Services dated July 19, 2019. The account number associated with this signed contract is ************** and the address of the service location is **** ******* *** ******** ** *****. The following are the terms and pricing of the agreement signed:
      ·         August 2019 – August 2020, a monthly service charge of $ 99.67
      ·         August 2020 – August 2021, a monthly service charge of $ 109.64
      ·         August 2021 – August 2022, a monthly service charge of $ 120.60
The following is a snippet of the proposed contract that was mentioned above:

Per past agreements between B & H Tran Investments, Inc. and Republic Services, a renewal would typically be signed around the expiration of the previous agreement, thus in this case, a renewal would be signed sometime in August 2022. However, Republic Services sent a renewal proposal that needed to be signed by September 2, 2021. In order to continue service and have a good relationship with Republic Services, B & H Tran Investments, Inc. signed the renewal proposal. The following are the terms and pricing of the renewal proposed signed:
      ·         August 2021 – August 2022, a monthly service charge of $ 108.33
      ·         August 2022 – August 2023, a monthly service charge of $ 119.16
      ·         August 2023 – August 2024, a monthly service charge of $ 131.08

The following is a snippet of the renewal proposal:

      Republic Services Overcharge
Per the agreement signed with Republic Services dated July 19, 2019, the service fee for the term “August 2021 – August 2022” is $120.60. Note, the renewal agreement has a monthly rate of $108.33 for the same term as the agreement signed on July 19, 2019. Since the renewal agreement was signed after the agreement, the service fee should reflect the latter. The following is an invoice of service for August 1, 2022 – August 31, 2022:
The amount charged for service from August 1, 2022 – August 31, 2022 per the invoice issued by Republic Services is $156.69. This is an overcharge of $48.36 for services from August 1, 2022 – August 31, 2022. This is just one example of many, in order to keep this letter concise, I have not included all the invoices in which an overcharge was made by Republic services. If needed these documents can be provided.

B & H Tran Investments, Inc. Payment History
The following excerpt is a payment history log from August 9, 2019 – December 2, 2021, which illustrates that B & H Tran Investments, Inc. has always made payments to Republic Services on a timely basis. This further illustrates that B & H Tran Investments Inc. has always been in good standing with Republic Services in terms of billing.
Billing Adjustment Needed on Republic Services’ Behalf
As stated in the section titled “Republic Services Overcharge”, Republic Services overcharged B & H Tran Investments Inc. on several occasions, as such, B & H Tran Investments Inc. is formally requesting a refund for overages from August 1, 2019 through the current bill dated November 30, 2022. Republic Services are not abiding by the monthly service charges set fourth in the signed agreement dated September 2, 2021. It is my opinion that Republic Services are charging any amount they deem fit, instead of the agreed upon amounts.

Republic Services’ Negative Treatment Towards B & H Tran Investments, Inc.
During the year of 2022, B & H Tran Investments has received four interruption of service notifications from Republic Services, the following are those notifications:
An interruption of service means that Republic Services will not service the dumpster on the date mentioned. The last date of service provided by Republic Service as of this letter is November 25, 2022. I have requested Republic Services to service the dumpster this upcoming Tuesday, December 6, 2022 due to the fact that the dumpster was half filled as of November 25, 2022.
The following are negative effects that result from an interruption of service:
      1.       Attraction of Rodents
      2.       Health Concerns
      3.       Trash Overflow
      4.       Expense of Cleaning Service as the Result of Trash Overflow
The following screenshot is the dumpster serviced by Republic Services as of November 29, 2022:

Although Republic Services did not service the dumpster since November 25, 2022, I am still responsible for the entire month of service. Republic Services does not provide compensation or credit for the interruption of service. It is my belief that these interruptions of services are not a coincidence and are the result of Republic Services believing that it is owed the overcharged amounts. Republic Services believes that it should be entitled to receive payment for amounts above the previously agreed upon pricing via the signed renewal agreement signed on September 2, 2021. I believe that any amount over the previously agreed upon pricing should not be the responsibility of B & H Tran Investments, since it is not the amount agreed upon. Republic Services’ representative *** **** ******** has contracted me via email in regards to these overcharges and stated that these overcharges can be removed from the account, if B & H Tran Investments Inc. agrees to sign a new three-year contract. I believe that *** **** ******** is attempting to coerce me into signing a new three-year contract by removing amounts which should not even be on the account to begin with. The following is a screenshot of an email between *** **** and *** **** ********:
It is my understanding that the purpose of the signed written agreement between B & H Tran Investments Inc. and Republic Services is to list out the details, terms, and cost of the services that Republic Services will provide. In my opinion, I feel like Republic Services has a three-year contract with B & H Tran Investments Inc. and can charge any amount they deem fit, have the right to interrupt service with no recourse, and have the ability to force B & H Tran Investments to pay for the service due to the three-year contract in effect. In order to stop this unrightful treatment, I am requesting the assistance of agencies like Better Business Bureau and Consumer Complain Texas to help B & H Tran Investments Inc.

      Immediate Action Request
I am requesting that Republic Services adjust the monthly service charges and remove any overages on the account. I am in disagreement with any and all overcharges. Additionally, I am requesting the renewal agreement between B & H Tran Investments Inc. and Republic Services be terminated effectively immediately. The renewal agreement signed on September 2, 2021 did not need to be signed due the fact that there was already a contract in effect dated July 19, 2019, which does not expire until August 2022. An alternative to this request would be for Republic Services to transfer their right of service 7227 Antoine Dr to Nexus Disposal. In order for this transfer to be agreed upon, the following remain in effect:

      1.       The amount agreed upon in agreement signed September 2 ,2021 for servicing the dumpster must remain the same
      2.       No charges above the agreed upon amount per the agreement
      3.       And; no option for renewal for Republic Services

The following is a proposal sent by Nexus Disposal during the month of October 2022:

      ·         Service charge per month for an 8-yard dumpster, once per week in the amount of $122
      ·         Two additional charges: Houston sales tax (8.25%), and franchise tax (4%)
      ·         Three-year contract, firm pricing for first year, and an increase of 5% for years two and three.

We have spoken with customer on several occasions. Customer does not want to pay for charges that are valid and refuses to discuss the account with us. We have in the past issued credits for charges as courtesy but cannot continue to credit valid charges. Customer has not been serviced, as account is currently on service interruption as there are open amounts due on the account. Customer has been short paying invoices so the open amounts continue to roll over. Customer signed a new 36 month agreement on 9/2/21 effective 10/1/21. Price increase due occur. as stated in our contract. Customer was also sent several new proposals in 2022 and customer refused them.

My service was missed on 7/15/22. I called multiple times, spoke to multiple supervisors to try and get them to come back out and pick up the extra garbage from the missed pickup. Everybody gave me the run around and now its clear to me that the driver refuses to come back out except on his normal scheduled day and refuses to take any extra garbage that is not in a Republic trash can. Almost a month later and I still have extra garbage. This is worst customer service experience I have ever had with a company.

I closed my account with Republic Services in August 2020. They were to come and get their containers and did not. I called since then, randomly, for them to come to get them. I made contact in July as I was having an event and wanted the property cleared. They arranged pick-up on July 14, and didn't come. They then arranged pick-up on July 20, and didn't come. The same happened again on the 25th. I have spent probably close to 2 hours on hold calling them to come and rectify this, the answer is "we'll look into it." They have also billed me, due on August 14th for a service they have not provided. When I asked, today, that this **** be removed until they do come pick up, I was not told it would be as they would have to retrigger it again later this month. They cannot confirm when they will actually do this work. I am tired of this, the containers are theirs and at this point I want them off my property and don't feel I should pay.

I canceled my service over ten months ago due to multiple other problems (see the over **** other complaints for an idea). My current issue is that when I canceled, I had a zero balance, but they wanted to charge me $30 to come pick up the trash can. I asked if I could drop it off (we have a Republic Services division right here close to where I live). I was told I could definitely do that, but that I would have to schedule an appointment with the local office to do so. I called many times to schedule this appointment, and I was told every time that somebody would call me back. Nobody every called back. I continued to call and got several apologies with the promise to "escalate it," and was given many promises that the person I was speaking to would write a note to "make sure someone calls" me. Again, I never received a call. I canceled service in August or September. I called every couple of weeks or so since then. Finally, fed up, I called a couple of months ago and asked them to just come pick up the container, but I would not be paying for them to do so, because I was told over and over I could drop it off, but had to wait for a phone call that never happened. A couple weeks later, the container was finally removed. It is now almost a year from my initial call and cancelation of service, and all of a sudden, I got a voice message today saying my service has been suspended because of "an unpaid account balance." So, I called to talk to another 2 agents (the first one is rarely ever able to help, and the wait time to speak to anyone is never less than 20 minutes), and I finally was told nobody could help me there, because my account had been turned over to collections due to "the purchase of a container" and nonpayment of said container. I asked to speak to someone in collections, so I was transferred to some other company who handles that and got voicemail. This has been a nightmare. I want charges taken off the account, out of collections, and no more contact.

I signed up for trash services with Republic services. Established an account. They deliver a trash bins and I was told pickup was on Friday morning. Trash was not picked up. After 2 weeks I called to see what the problem was. I was told, they dont service my area. Meantime I have a trash can full of trash. I was told they will remove my can with trash on August 3. That also failed to happen. Now they are telling me they wont remove the trash can because it is full. The trash has been sitting at my home for about a month now with no solution. Unsanitary

I started new service with Republic Services from July 1, 2022 (moved to a new place). I opened account in advance on June 21 and made a full payment which included delivery of 3 new clean trash containers. The company representative assured that the new containers would arrive by July 1 (service start date). On July 1 there were no new containers and I had to use the old dirty dumpsters from previous tenants since then. I called the Republic Services customer service multiple times during July and August, every time scheduling the new date for containers exchange. I had 4 dates scheduled and no one never showed up to exchange these old containers to the new ones. Every time I talked to the customer service they apologised and set the new exchange date (which is typically **** days of a wait time) and assured that would be done next time. Exchange dates were set to July 1, July 8, July 22, August 3. Nothing was done on any of these days.I feel very disappointed and don't know how can I influence this company to finally get the new trash containers (for which I paid more than a month ago).

On 8 July 2022 I called Republic and cancelled my service with them effective immediately. I paid the bill for July and requested they remove the container as soon as possible so I could have the new container placed from another company. I was not under a contract with them. They stated they would remove it before the end of the month but could not assure me it would be removed before then. They never removed it and billed me again on 2 Aug 22. I called and they acknowledge that I had called on 8 July to cancel but claim it isnt effective till someone from their agency contacts me via phone at their discretion. I subsequently found out many of the people in my area are having the same issue and it can take months for them to finally cancel your account.

I spoke with our local Sales agent, and she will be calling the customer and back dating the close date.
I see where the customer called 7/8/2022 to close. Thank you

They did contact me and stated they refused to close an account after I had called untill a follow up phone call was made by them and received by me. I received no such phone call until you contacted them. See attached email they sent me.  They have now decided the account was not closed till 8/9/22 and so I owe more money.  This is NOT in line with their terms of service that is posted on their website.  The following is cut/pasted from their Service terms page. They continue to try to bill me for a month after I cancelled service.

      Cancellation
You have a right to rescind your initial order for service within 3 days of your order without incurring any charges by calling the telephone number on the front of your invoice (or customer support at **************); any prepaid charges will be refunded to you less any amounts for services rendered. You may also cancel your services at any other time by calling the telephone number on the front of your invoice (or customer support at **************). Please note that advanced notice is required to cancel services, so your cancellation will be effective as of the last day of the month in which you cancel. For example, if you cancel service on March 15, your operating subsidiary will process your cancellation to be effective on March 30, which is also when they will remove your waste container(s).
