I canceled service with on June 20, 2022. And the only fee I was told about was the $35.00 pick up. So on an closed account I receive a **** stating I own them $75 and some odd change. So I called in to speak with customer agent she was willing to remove 2 of the $5.00 late charge. I dont believe I should been aint other than the $35.00 fee that was stated when canceling my services. So the company gets money for services never render. Scam Scam Scam and will never do any kind of business with them again in life. And I will refer us to the new company I am at currently.Business Response

We have reviewed the situation and believe a few items require clarification on this customers account. On the back of every one of our invoices is an understanding your **** explanation along with a hyperlink www.RepublicServices.com/MyBill.There is a section regarding Cancellation & Payment Policy which states unless prohibited by applicable law, regulation, or franchise or other agreement: (1) we reserve the right to require that payment be made only by check, credit card or money order; and (2) if service is cancelled during a billing cycle, you will remain responsible for all charges, fees and taxes through the end of the billing cycle. You will not be entitled to proration of billing or a refund for the period between the notice of termination and the end of the current billing cycle. There is a fee disclosure section that explains fees/charges one might see on their invoice including delivery and removal charges along with late and service interruption fees. Our Delivery and Removal Fees are enterprise-wide fees that are typical on open market accounts.
Republic Services values our customers business and is committed to serving in a safe, customer centered and environmentally responsible manner. Despite these disclosures and the actual costs these fees recoup, in response to Ms. ***** request, we have credited her account for the $35.00 service interruption fee and one $5.00 late fee. This leaves a balance due of $35.00. We apologize for any inconvenience and once she pays the remaining $35.00 that shes agreed upon within the BBB complaint, well consider this matter resolved.

We moved into our new home starting June 15th. We have called 3 times to have Republic pick up their garbage and recycling receptacles. The recycling was picked up. However, the garbage has been sitting in front of or house for over a month. I spent 15 minutes on hold this morning. No one picked up. I am now in a queue to have someone call back again. The customer service is separate from the local service. I just want them to get their trash receptacles off my property. I understand getting staff is hard, but this is ridiculous.Business Response

I have been receiving trash removal services from Republic since May 2020. When they raised their fees, I called to cancel service prior to the end of the already-paid billing cycle, which ended June 30. I was told that the invoice charges for the upcoming quarter would be removed from my account and that I would only be charged $25 for the removal of their trash/recycling containers. I agreed, and this removal was scheduled for July 8. When Republic updated my invoice, it removed the service charges for the upcoming quarter but left a $5.95 admin fee and $12.97 of its "fuel/environmental recovery fee" on the updated ****. I called to dispute these additional fees, but Republic refused to credit back these amounts, saying they were disclosed on the back of their monthly invoices even though not noted during my prior call to cancel service. I paid the undisputed amount of $25 and notified I would be making a complaint regarding the remaining charges. The **** itself includes only a website link regarding fees; the fees disclosed on that webpage do include an admin fee for each invoice, but again, I should not be being invoiced for cancelled services, so I dispute this charge. Further, as detailed in the fee disclosure, the environmental recovery fee is purportedly to offset service-related costs for landfill/recycling services; this is not applicable to the removal of Republic's own empty containers as these items will not be recycled or dumped but rather returned to the company for re-use. Therefore, I dispute this charge. Based on the fuel recovery fee as disclosed on the webpage, the total of any fees applicable to the container removal would be $7.78. Instead, I was charged $12.97. However, again, I dispute the applicability of the fuel recovery fee to a charge for the retrieval of the company's own equipment. This company has tried to charge me a total of $43.92 for cancelling their service, even though I was not subject to any contract.Business Response

I received trash service on my property at **************************************************************************. When I tried to cancel my service I couldnt get anyone on the phone. It just left me on hold for an hour. I have emailed support several times and can not get a resolution. I paid two quarters even though i was not using the service and wrote a note to cancel with payment. I am busy with work, school, a toddler, and two properties and couldnt get in touch so I delayed my service through the online function for 6 months hoping to get in touch with them when i had more time. Today i get another invoice saying I owe 3 more months on trash cans i havent used in probably 18 months. I would like them to cancel my service and i refuse to pay the final amount. In April 2022 I was paying Republic Service (a trash **** $179 a month and in May 2022 they raised my **** to $468 a month. I called their corporate ** in ****** and spoke to a representative who told me it was probably a city problem, but she did not really know. She realized that the **** was indeed too high and put the **** on dispute. I called the city of Hawthorne and was told that they were not aware of the payment increases.Also, in July I was getting billed for services I do not have such as 3 cans of 65 gallons each.Business Response

I contacted Republic Waste Services on 09 June 2022 to inquire about recycling. Was advised it would be $39 per quarter and would be picked up every other week beginning 17 June 2022. Was advised containers would be delivered on the 17th - one extra trash toter, one recycling toter and if I wanted to, I could set out recyclables to be picked up that day. Container delivery was to be $47 per toter. I set out recyclables. No pickup took place, no containers showed up on the 17th. I called 20 June 2022 and advised Republic there was no pickup and no container delivery. Promised delivery by Friday. Delivered Friday 22 June 2022. Recycling pick up was charged to my **** for service 6/16 through 08/31. Recyclable pick up should be as scheduled - 17 June, 1 July, 15 July, 19 July. Trash pick up is on Wednesdays. My recyclables have been at the curb every Friday. In fact, they have been sitting there since 17 June. I have two 96 gallon toters full of recyclables. I have paid the $32.41 prorated fee to have these items RECYCLED. I called Republic 15 July and advised no pickups have been made for recyclables. They stated they would not refund, they would order a missed pickup. Missed pickup didn't show. I called again 19 July and received an **** credit to my acct and promised a missed pickup the next day. 20 July recyclables still not picked up. 21 July - today is trash pick up day. The trash truck picked up both recyclable bins and dumped them with the rest of my trash to be buried in the landfill.If Republic is unable to provide recycling in my area, I request they refund the $47.50 for deliver of the toter specified for recycling. I also request a refund of the $32.41 I've paid for this service. I also request they advise customers in my service area of the fact this service is truly unavailable to customers and they are charging for a service they are not able to provide as purported.Business Response

The resident had concerns with their recycling not being picked up by a recycle truck as well as missed pick **** I assured her that this was done in error and that we do in fact recycle the proper way. We have since issued a credit as well as provided the customer with a local contact number as she requested. Customer is satisfied. Been waiting over a month to get our trash picked up at my shop at ********** in ************************. Cant close my gates as theres so much trash piled up. Been getting told multiple different dates and times about getting our trash. It is piled up we cannot fit anymore in the dumpster. We cannot close our gates. I started service with this company in March. They failed to honor their responsibility by not picking up my recycling for 4 days in a row. I switched to another company and Republic said they would pick up their cans July 8. It is now July21 and after multiple calls and rescheduling to pickup nothing has been done. I've been waiting to hear from their supervisor for a week. We have an HOA and having 2 extra cans out is against their rules. I am at a total loss as to how to get these cans off my property. I feel I have done all I can do and they have no intention of fulfilling their duty.Business Response

I called to get my services turned on on June 24. I was told that I would receive my trash cans that following Tuesday. On July 19th almost a month later I finally received my cans. Now I call every single week because my trash has been piling up for a month now. The supervisor booked me a trash removal twice and both times republic has NOT come fo pick it up. Ive already missed the last 3 Tuesdays at work to retrieve my Trash cans that never came, but now Ive had two supervisors and one associate schedule a pick up and no one is showing up. Its frustrating because I am sitting on a ton of trash. Im tired of calling republic services Every other day and still no resolution. I called the customer to get more information on the matter. The customer has received their containers but have not been picked up. Was able to send a truck to empty their trash container and spoke to the customer about the corrections on our end to service it every Tuesday going forward.
