Lifestance uses mental health as a means to a profit and the most nefarious way. They are not at all up front or honest about their pricing and billing, and their pricing is almost triple fair market value. They expect patients to be able to pay close to $300 once a month just to write a 5-minute script. When booking appointment, their staff are not open or honest about what the total cost will be for patients who need to meet a deductible. They will tell you that the price depends on the provider, however will refuse to give you an honest answer about the pricing even after our provider has already been selected and scheduled. This company does not care about patients at all.I wasted my time in multiple 40-minute sessions with a therapist who did not remember what we talked about in prior sessions, and seem to be eating lunch during my last session with them. I'm glad I canceled future sessions because the bill was more than triple what the expected price should have been. While trying to determine why the bill was so high, I have been given a runaround for months now where the company still refuses to name the actual price per session in writing. There have been many messages back and forth with with both the provider and the billing department and neither of them will give a solid answer as to what the cost of a session should have been. There are different prices assigned to my sessions even though each one was the same type of session. This company is a venture capitalist company that uses patients' mental health as a profit gambling adventure.

I would like to say I had loved my therapist she is has helped me immensely over the last 4 years. But their company switched to lifestance and since the billing issues have been a nightmare. They also have told me mixed messages every time I call. First they said a year ago they were waiting on my insurance to be added under my therapist and then they said 6 months later it had been added. Then today they said it had not been. Having insurance added should not take nearly a year. I could no longer afford my self pay even monthly and the company was not accommodating to have this fixed. The customer service does not get back to your calls or portal messages. For being such a large company they should be treating customers with more urgency to meet their mental health needs. I have had to decline seeing my therapist due to billing/insurance delays. It has nothing to do with her. The company needs to prioritize taking care of its patients.

Sadly, tomorrow will be my last appointment with a wonderful therapist. After many attempts with the billing, no one can give me a chronological record. I pay every bill when it comes in. I can afford it. But, all of a sudden I get a bill for a very old appointment. I have given them more opportunities to get it right than any company in my life. I will be warning others to not get started here and get attached to a therapist. It won't be long until they will regret it. After so many attempts, I began to suspect they were deliberately double-billing. I have hired an auditor and will be sending the outcome to the attorney general. Something is wrong here.

I wish I could give this "practice" zero stars. As a teacher, I never made my appointments with the psychiatrist at the end of our session (once a month) as I needed to make sure I had availability to be seen. This was the first time I have ever used mental health services, and I was not impressed. My provider was pleasant, but after a few monthly sessions, I got randomly reassigned a psychiatrist with no warning or explanation. When the new psychiatrist started to check availability for another appointment, I told her that I had to call the scheduler once I was able to confirm time off. Everything seemed to go fine, but I quickly decided I wanted to end my relationship with this practice. At my last appointment, I communicated that it would be my last appointment, and I didn't need to make another one. The provider instead scheduled me for another appointment (of which I was unaware, so I never showed up). Over a year later, I got the FIRST no-show bill. I called the office to speak to a ****** to contest the charge as I had never made the appointment. I was met with a brick wall. No one returned my calls, and when I asked for verification from the provider, I was told I needed to make an appointment. I refused and accepted the "you'll have to leave a message with billing." I received no return call. Another 6 months later, I got a second no-show statement, so then I used the online chat tool to speak with an agent, who ultimately told me that she would escalate my issue. Here we are another 6 months later, and I have received my third statement. The no show fee is $100. I don't have the emotional capacity to keep fighting with a non-existent billing department. This is the most ridiculous practice I have ever encountered and has seriously damaged my willingness to try mental health services in the future.

They are doing an ILLEGAL practice in ******* and balance bill. We canceled an appointment 2 days in advance and they are charging us a no show fee so we arent paying when we gave them 2 days notice like they ask. Now they are trying to balance bill and thats illegal in *******.

Billing department is impossible to get hold of. I was on hold for 75 min! and could not afford to wait longer. *** tried several times the past couple weeks and still cant get anyone. They overcharged my psych appointment ($750!!) for a 30 min consult. $350 because I was new and $400 for the consultation. They never notified me of these high costs either. The most Ive ever paid for a *********** was $300 and that was a full hour. Avoid this place. As you can see many people have had similar issues, and there is even an ongoing lawsuit against them for this very reason. I wish I could give zero stars.

I was waiting in my healthcare provider's telehealth lobby for our 10:00AM appointment when our call started... only it wasn't my provider, it was someone named *************************** (who I've never met) and who I presume to be from LifeStance's billing department. Read that again. I was waiting for my confidential, mental health appointment with a licensed healthcare provider only to have the meeting hijacked by some random person asking me about an outstanding charge from over 2 years ago. I had my camera on and everything. After this brief interaction, I assumed my appointment (you know, the thing I actually joined the virtual call for) had been cancelled. *************************** didn't mention anything about my appointment beginning once our call finished, so I naturally assumed my original appointment had been cancelled via her hijacking. Apparently my actual appointment was not cancelled though, and I later got a call from my provider asking if I was going to miss my appointment. I'm sorry, "miss" my appointment? I didn't miss anything. I was there, right on time, ready for my healthcare appointment. Instead I got some amateur hour ambush - and realistically, am I supposed to trust the provider's employed by LifeStance after something like that happens? Am I supposed to want to open up to my provider after something like that? Does my provider even know that happened? What, exactly, did it look like on her end? Did it look like I was late for my appointment, when in fact I was fielding questions from someone who had hijacked our appointment slot? Do the healthcare providers that contract with LifeStance know about this? What kind of telehealth provider engages in practices like that? No wonder this company is always getting sued.

The therapists I have have been wonderful. The office staff is continually rude and incompetent. Every three months is a struggle to get the proper approvals for my prescriptions. When I call and ask basic questions I get told to "check the portal" and then get hung up on. I am now literally out of medication and they act like they don't care. They keep saying "we sent a renewal" when my pharmacy is telling me they haven't heard from them in two months!
