1 starThe billing department is absolutely horrid. Calls take about 2-3 hours to speak with someone. When you do get through to someone they lack empathy, and blow you off and/or hang up on you.I have been trying to get a statement corrected due to an error on their part, and was told it can take months to fix. Insurance says they do not respond to their requests for more information, and they have the same issues. Considerably, the worst provider I have dealt with yet. I wish I would have read their BBB reviews before choosing to go there. I would give them ZERO STARS if I could.Review fromGina S

1 starOMG, I'm already out of meds and don't have an appointment!I called so many times, nobody answers -The machine says for quick access, make the appointment in the portal. I go to the portal and it says to call the office instead. How frustrating! Also, the portal says I owe money, I was able to leave three messages so they fix that; however, they never did.I'm sure they continue getting their money from the insurance without a problem...Seriously? They should be regulated and close them down!Review fromHM H

1 starLifestance billing is a scam. Please do NOT go here! On the website they list accepted insurance. When you sign up with them and confirm they accept your insurance, they tell you that they do. Three months later I received an email stating an amount due with a ridiculous amount as I have PPO and it should not be in the hundreds price range. I called them immediately and they once again confirmed they accept my insurance and to wait until my insurance pays them. Three months go by and the bill keeps climbing. I call to confirm again and once again Im told they accept my insurance and to wait. So I then also email because I want it in writing. Next thing I know my bill is almost $3,000!!! And now they are saying that they don't accept my insurance even though it is stated on their site that they do. Please do not go here! The therapist and psychiatrist are decent but the billing part is a scam. Read the reviews. I wish I had.Review fromVero M

1 starThey take FOREVER to answer the phone. Every single time I call, I'm waiting for at least 30 minutes before someone answers. If I hadn't found a great therapist within their company, I'd never be a customer. Pick a different company to provide you with mental health help, because they do not deserve your money after having never resolved this issue that's been ongoing for YEARS.Review fromMelanie H

1 starMy psychologist is ok, but I doubt his ability to help me much, and he talks about himself a lot.My main complaint is about the billing department. I need itemized receipts in order to file flexible spending account claims. I was on hold for FOUR HOURS AND 15 MINUTES the first time I called. After that, I sent a message to the billing department through the patient portal. That was on February 28, 2024. No one has responded. The site even says This message may not be immediately seen or responded to. No kidding! In the patient portal, I can see only the statement for my most recent appointment and the previous appointment . . . nothing more. The receipts that I can download from the web site dont show all of the information that is required for a flexible account claim. Yesterday I was on hold for THREE HOURS before I had to hang up.Today Ive been on hold for OVER AN HOUR. The recording actually says, Your time is valuable. We will be with you shortly. Yeah, right!Supposedly, I can press 1 to get a call back, but I dont trust them to actually call me.Unless you REALLY like your therapist, dont bother with LifeStance.Review fromAngelica M

1 starSUBPAR THERAPY AND FRAUDULENT BILLING. Can't imagine our experience with LifeStance being any worse than it was. We were looking for emergency therapy support for our teen and were told LifeStance had immediate openings. The therapist assigned spoke to our teen like a toddler and trivialized the very serious concerns that had led us there. We left LifeStance and have made great progress since with a therapist who knows how to work with teens. Unfortunately, the difficulty of dealing with this company didn't end there. We were invoiced and paid in full. LifeStance began harassing us for payment - phone calls, letters, threatening to send to collections - FOR AN ACCOUNT THAT WAS PAID IN FULL. We provided check numbers, dates, even copies of the check that they had endorsed. They admitted they had received payment and then choose to continue to harass and threaten collections FOR SIX MONTHS after they had cashed the checks. This is beyond incompetence - the company knowingly billed us in error. Tried multiple channels for resolution. Finally someone returned a call and agreed it had been paid - no acknowledgement of error or apology - and unwillingness to provide written documentation of full payment. If you are looking for mental wellness support, look elsewhere. Anywhere else.Review fromJason K

1 starJust received a call about billing. They say I owe over $400 dollars for services that have yet to be rendered. I do accept it is my responsibility, the services I am seeking are to get the help for my son that he needs. I got paid last Friday, I checked my patient portal, the amount owed was $0.00. I checked again several minutes after the phone call, still a patient responsibility owed amount of $0.00. Every time I brought this up to the lady who called me, she said it was in the financial agreement that I signed. Well of course I signed it, my son needs help, I trust the Doctor who is providing the help and if I didn't agree to it, he wouldn't be able to get the help he needs. When looking up reviews of their billing practices, I found many reviews about "Predatory Billing Practices", and I would whole hardheartedly agree with that description. The way this company presents the patient expectations and does their billing for services that have yet to be rendered, borders on theft. The representative even stated that the Doctor has yet to file her billing for the services scheduled for today, but still I owe over $400 in order to be able to have access to those services. Looking in my financial agreement, what I should be owing isnt over $400, but just over $300 as I have already paid what THEIR website, under the Bill heading, showed that I owed. My insurance paid what it would cover, and according to THEIR website, I owe nothing. The actual medical service I have gotten has been outstanding! THAT is the only reason for the star on this review. I wish I could rate them with negative stars. If you are referred to this company, and money is tight, please do yourself a favor and find someone else, the billing department will cause you nothing but trouble in my opinion.Review fromKeith S

1 starI wanted to add my experience to the list of complaints against Lifestance and its billing practices. Prior to my first (and only) therapy session, both Lifestance and my insurance company confirmed by phone that the therapist I selected was covered in my insurance plan. One week after my session (1 hour), Lifestance informed me by phone that the therapist was actually not in my network because she was located in a different county than me. No one had mentioned anything about a county requirement before. I requested the total fee be reduced to what it would have been with insurance because both companies confirmed before the session that the therapist was in network. The person on the phone rudely said that they would consider it but ultimately, I should have known what my plan covered. I later received a bill for $270. I disputed the charge and Lifestance told me to contact my insurance company. My insurance company told me to contact my medical group. My medical group reconfirmed that the therapist was covered in my plan (there was no county requirement), and Lifestance had never sent them a claim. Next, I called Lifestance again, relayed the info, and they said that they would file a claim. Later, my balance was lowered to $35! It took almost four months to resolve this mess. I don't recommend Lifestance to anyone because their billing practices are fraudulent. They picked some random reason to overcharge and hoped that I would just accept it. Save yourself the trouble!Review fromCaleb N

1 starAs a US ************ Veteran, it has been difficult to find a therapist who I could connect with. I've been working with the same therapist for over a year and have been making progress that absolutely crushed any previous mental health care I've received. My therapist at the ********************* has been the ONLY provider I have been able to trust. Last year, LifeStance failed to file the necessary paperwork with the ********** for my ************** approval, causing my therapist to NOT GET PAID for a bunch of sessions. LifeStance NEVER took care of her payment after that and it was like herding cats while pulling teeth, to get the company to file the proper paperwork. We FINALLY got back on track with our sessions and then yesterday, right before my appointment with her, I was informed that she was let go. Apparently, they don't allow their staff to have health issues cause the need for sick days, because they fired her over needing to take care of herself.Lifestance should be ashamed of their predatory billing practices, their blatant neglect of their staff and for trying to blame the provider for the company's failure to file the correct paperwork with the ******** Veterans Affairs. I have overheard MANY of their staff members complaining about the unfair business practices and the lack of empathy that the company shows towards clients and staff alike.
