1 starThe counselor I met with was amazing.I am giving a 1 star review because this is a for profit company only focused on making money. Which I get. All for profits are, but their mission statement clearly states affordable mental health services. And they changed rates last year, giving us only a few weeks notice. And by change rates, I mean significantly increased them. The billing and operations department were horrible to work with. The operations director I was speaking to, ************, simply said "contact your insurance", she wouldn't even provide me the out of pocket cost.If looking for mental health services run as fast as you can away from any LifeStance office.Review fromJack A

1 starHorrible! NEVER call back, weeks and months, of waiting to get a refund due! still have not. after 5 months, still waiting. Call the ******** insurance, board, file a complaint online, call your insurance as well. Incompetant people, lazy. They dont know what they are saying, and dont know the laws. Especially about timely billing. They have no numbers or emails to their leadership team, you cant talk to any manager or sup. ITs like *************. WHY?! Pub traded company! Horrible customer support! sad....Review fromScott C

1 starI am a psychologist working with a patient whose psychopharmacist is at Lifestance. The client is in crisis and I tried to reach the psychophamacist to coordinate care. I tried multiple times at the number provided; there was no directory of extensions through which I could leave a VM for the provider, and there was no option to talk to a representative. I tried all of the three numeric options given; each time when I was able to get to a further option where I could leave a message, the outgoing message said that I had reached "the medical records department." Mind you, this is whether I tried the option of being a new patient, an existing patient, or someone calling from a hospital, pharmacy or other provider. I did not leave a message as I had no confidence this mailbox was actively monitored or that the message would get to the intended recipient. This difficulty in getting through to a real human being or even to a clearly appropriate mailbox creates an impediment to care, for those seeking treatment as well as for other professionals.Review fromAshley M

1 starI came to Life stance in search of some mental health help/counseling and because it was supposed to be in network with my insurance. I was met by a woman, who after only talking with me for ************************************************************************************* not. What no one told me from the start was that my initial evaluation would be $305 and her "literally just writing a prescription for a drug that I did not even go pick up" was $150. I paid around $170 up front and then was billed the rest later. Paying a total of $450 for a 30 minute conversation. The billing department was rude when I tried to call for months asking for an explanation of the statements I was continuously getting by email. I was told things like "don't worry about it" "We'll look into it" and then lastly "we have no record of these other calls." ************ took advantage of me just looking for some help and counseling. I feel used and disgusted by what they do. They are a joke of a company.Review fromRaven M

1 starWorst customer service in the billing department that I've experienced in a decade. Unfriendly, unreasonable and waited 40 mins on hold to be hung up on, with no one attempting to reach back out. Instead of trying to help clarify my COBRA claim with a former insurance provider, they simply passed the work on to me after being told for two months it would be resolved. The coverage for the period in question is clearly there; it comes across as if they are unwilling to work with the insurance provider to clarify the case. Thanks for the help though!!Review fromDakota R

1 starThis company is not equipped to handle the needs of their customers, and it shows. I booked an appointment yesterday (1/3) for a date of 1/24. Today, I called LifeStance's billing department four times to try to get an estimate for services, as I must pay out of pocket. (Spoiler alert: nobody answered any of the 4 times). My call times are in CST and the hold times were as follows:9:39AM - 20 Minutes. No answer. Hung up to go to work.12:30PM - 30 minutes. No answer. Hung up to go to lunch.1:01PM - 20 Minutes. No answer. Hung up to go back to work from lunch.1:30 - 46 minutes (and counting.) Still no answer - staying on hold until the office closes. Before I get any automated response - note that I have called during their posted business hours, utilized the provided phone number for my region, and gone through the automated system exactly as instructed. The business response will likely say "Our representatives are available from 8:30AM-5PM..." but the website (*******************************************) very clearly displays that the billing team is only available from 8-3 at most. This company doesn't even know enough about its own departments to be able to advertise their hours correctly. Any reply from this business stating anything other than "We certainly messed up on your calls as well as the calls of many other patients" is nothing more than a PR move designed to make you trust them enough to give them your money. Make no mistake - they do not care about you.Review fromAshli N

1 starIf it weren't for the connection I've made over the last 8 years with my therapist, I would NOT still be a patient of LifeStance. They truly deserve zero stars due to their billing department. I have had zero issues with billing. ***** made things a little wonky by that was worked out. To keep this concise, January 2023, I was seeing my therapist about every 2 weeks and receiving a STATEMENT at the end of the month. Just like with any other bill, I paid my bill once I received the statement. I got married in May of 2023 and my insurance changed to a high deductible plan. My typical bill was about $20 but it then jumped into multiple hundreds of dollars in July. I requested an itemized statement just so that I could understand what had change in my insurance. With multiple emails being ignored & multiple phone calls, I had an outstanding balance. I finally was able to talk to someone on the ************ advised me to hold off on paying my bill until everything was finalized with my insurance. They explained I had 120 days to make a payment on an outstanding bill.Early August I have a scheduled therapy session & to my surprise an unfamiliar voice joins my session, its the billing department asking my why I hadn't paid my bill. Even though I was being bullied, I stood my ground & refused to pay unless I received an itemized bill as well as a statement. This was exceptionally unprofessional & it disrupted my mental health care. It took 2 months to work this out with them. We learned that any bill (not statement) with a balance over a measly $200, they will start to call & harass you for payment even when a statement has not yet been produced. For those with high deductible plans, this could be 1 therapy session. This is not proper billing nor appropriate practices for a mental health outfit. My husband was able to reach an agreement with them to only bill me monthly. I received two statements in the month of December 2023. They are extremely bad at billing.Review fromDelaney B

1 starMy experience with my therapist was great. The lifestance team however? Horrible. I am still receiving bills from visits in ****************************************************************************** June 2022. It's been over a year since some of these visits and the Lifestance team is claiming they're "just hearing from my insurance now" about the charges. This is patently false, I have contacted my former insurance provider as I now have another provider now, and the insurance provider confirmed that they processed the charges within 3 business days of each claim, which I have proof of. Lifestance refuses to take accountability for their horrible business practices, and I have talked with several of their corporate customer service specialists who have been rude and dismissive. I would not recommend anyone use this company, even if their therapists are great. Their lies and incompetent billing practices are not worth it.Review fromFrancesca M

1 starLife stance has some amazing therapist. While I have had a horrible experience with one therapist overall they provide access to good therapists. However, I have found that due to lack of leadership there. Billing against insurance could take them up to two years to do and then when denied because they missed the set limitations sat by insurance commissioner, the patient is automatically billed for the cost even though fully covered appts were not covered due to failure on companies end. I have literally been trying to get someone to get these types of issues handled for over two years and they as a company keep passing the ball /blame to another **** including office and regional mgrs who say oh it will be corrected in system only to pass it off to someone else to do who has no idea what to do or what is happening. Highly recommend to take business to a therapist CTR that does not add unnecessary stress or fraudulent billing practices.
