I am an existing patient of Lifestance therapy service and I have been seeing my therapist for 2 years or so. I recently had a 30 minute appointment on 8/22/23 and after insurance reviewed the claim, I still owe $221.44 for the 30 minute session. I like my therapist and I planned to continue to see her using the lifestance health service but I am admittedly shocked by the bill. I understand the particulars about the bill and how insurance calculated it, that is not the issue. The concern I have is that this amounts to $221 for a 30 minute therapy session or $442/hour. Having been to therapy over the years the going rate can be anywhere from $85/hour to $140/hour. So, as you can see, I am shocked by the bill. Before insurance adjustments the bill started at $800/hour. This is robbery. Meanwhile, after the bill is assign to me to be paid, Lifestance makes it impossible to reach anyone that can help. LS does have billing offices and 'escalation offices' but these poor people have absolutely not power to help. And the people with decision making abilities have been unresponsive for months. The corporate office are thieves. I waited patiently for four months trying to resolve this before writing this BBB profile of them. Stay away from Lifestance. They have earn the * rating on the better business bureau. I would like to keep my therapist but that depends heavily on amount I can afford for online therapy.

My advisor did not help me at all. They talked for an hour to fill up time. Repeating the same unhelpful information over again. I was not excited for any sessions felt like i was being robbed. 20yr old kid trying to find their major and purpose in life.

I saw a psychiatrist and 2 different therapists at Lifestance. I really appreciate the psychiatrist I saw and her efforts to help me. The first therapist I saw was 100% supportive however my last therapist there was simply not understanding my needs. I was trying to explain to her that I had been sexually assaulted in a place that my doctor sent me to and my perception was that this upset her. The only reason I can think of me wanting other women to not he harmed the way I have.. is maybe she doesn't believe me? Why else would a medical professional have any emotion over a patient's needs? When I requested another therapist who would not defend the place I was harmed in... they canceled my existing appointment with my psychiatrist there and told me they no longer take my insurance. I've tried along the way to help the most recent therapist understand how painful it is to be in recovery and have someone sexually violate you there but she seemed more concerned with how what I was saying made her personally feel than my needs as a patient.

I've had such a horrible experience with LifeStance even though the Psychiatrist I worked with is wonderful. Luckily, she left the service for another one that is infinitely better.LifeStance also charges overwhelmingly high late fees and they've also set up their service so people like myself (with ADHD and attention issues) so it can be difficult to contact. They DO NOT send reminder messages leading up to the meetings.Furthermore, the billing department is unfriendly and unreasonable to work with.Just check out the Yelp reviews. One star.Too bad it can't be a negative rating.

I would leave zero stars if I could. Completely incompetent and uncaring staff. I had an initial intake with a ** psychologist ***********************************. Just okay. She recommended counseling for my son. They new full well we lived in MA only to then turn around an tell ** no ** counselors could see ** and we would have to be placed on a MA waitlist. Here we our over 15 months later and NO counseling appointment. When I call to ask about the waitlist they tell me they cannot check his status on the waitlist nor can they call me when an appointment becomes available. I am expected to call back every week "hoping" an appointment becomes available. Disgusted by the entire staff and this incompetent company. I work in healthcare and know this is not the correct or standard process.

This is a horribly run medical facility. The providers have all been great, but I CAN NO LONGER DEAL WITH THE CROOKS IN THE BILLING OFFICE. My insurance covers mental health fully, meaning I should have ZERO bills. And yet they repeatedly charge me $100 fees. I finally had to turn off the card and report to the credit card company. They accused me of not showing up to my appointments that I quite literally did go to and have prescriptions from. Every time I call, I get told that a message has been sent to the manager and nobody ever reaches out. This is also after sitting on hold usually for over an hour and a half. Totally ridiculous and I wish I had looked at these reviews before bringing myself here.

The website is awful and offers 0 functionality. Want to cancel an appointment in advance to avoid being charged a no show fee? Well, you can't do that online and your message may not receive a response in time. Their billing also doesn't show up for weeks to months after your service date and receipts are not itemized, nor do they provide any level of detail, making it ripe for fraudulent charges and tacked on fees when you can't actually determine pertinent details.Beyond the mess that is their website, my psychiatrist has not been attentive. When I speak to him, it does not feel like he's listening, but rather waiting for the opportunity to speak with a canned response. It did not feel like there was a personal level of care. It felt formulaic and generic. Avoid them. Find a different practice.

Would give negative stars if I could. Unhelpful psychologists and shady billing practices. I received a $150 bill for a "cancelled" appt. It was an appointment with a provider that lasted just long enough for them to tell me that they cant prescribe medications over telehealth. When making the appt I told the operator that med management is all I really needed to be seen for, so they scheduled me with the wrong person to begin with. When I called about the (in my eyes) fraudulent bill, I was met with hostility and the billing person repeating that there's a 48hr cancellation policy and I violated it. I showed up to the teleheath appointment. It was the provider that cancelled the appointment five minutes into it. My insurance will not cover the bill because its coded as a late cancellation fee. Do NOT use this company

Lifestance is genuinely a scam. They make their money charging you for cancellations like a Blockbuster charging late fees. And their therapists clearly aren't licensed. I had one whose only contribution to all of our conversations was to make "a pros-and-cons list", thanks I get better advice from my ******. what a sham.
