Breg is a ripoff, they crazy overcharge for braces and claim they can't reduce the price because it is the "contractually agreed price with the insurance company". My son went to ************ for a sprained wrist, he was given a basic wrist brace. A claim was submitted to my insurance company for $300 for this brace. My insurance did not pay a dime because I had not yet met the deductible so I received a bill for a "discounted" price of $153.37. I no longer have this insurance so no need to worry about the deductible. I called Breg to explain and said I am willing to pay a reasonable price for the brace but $153.37 is ridiculous for a $25 brace. When I called Breg, the representative just kept referencing the contracted insurance amount. Since the insurance company did not pay a dime and I no longer even have this insurance there is no deductible issue, why is charging a reasonable price an issue? They are not charging an insurance company, they are charging a person. As you can see from the other reviews on this page, ripping people off is the goal for Breg.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I apologize you are unhappy with the outcome. While you may no longer have the insurance, we are still contractually obligated to collect based on the response we received from the payer you selected at the time of service. Insurance plans expect the best possible outcome for their patients, so insurance pricing is inclusive of the service aspect the insurance requires of their contracted supplier. Purchasing a product in a retail store or online puts the onus on the customer to determine whether or not the product fits properly, is being used correctly, or is appropriate for the injury or condition that the product is intended to treat. Again, I apologize this isn't the outcome you were looking to receive.

I received rotator cuff surgery on 1/6/23 and post surgery the medical staff at the hospital insisted to my wife that we take home a Polar Cube ice machine to support the recovery from the surgery. My wife stated that we don't need it and we didn't use one for a previous rotator cuff surgery I received roughly 8 years ago. The nurse insisted we take it and at no point did the nurse verbally tell my wife this is not covered by insurance therefore, we took this machine (which costs $200) home with us due to the pressure from the nurse. We would not have taken this machine if we knew it was not covered by insurance. I made multiple calls to Breg and they said they would contact my insurance company to inquire if there was a potential for reimbursement and said they would get back to me. This never happened and then I received a letter from a collection agency for $200. This is unacceptable as they never got back to me and the hospital staff should never have forced this product on us when we did not want it. This was a horrible customer experience and I never even wanted to be a customer of ***********************. I feel this practice of forcing a machine that is not necessary onto patients and forcing them to pay out-of-pocket is a dishonest and manipulative business practice. Therefore, I am requesting this bill as well as the account from *************************** be permanently deleted. I would not even give one star this company scams people. Not at any time. Do they circle on the back of the carbon copy of the paper that they give you stating how much this article is going to cost. If that at any time someone was to tell me that this simple little hand brace that is $58 online. If you buy it through their website was going to be charged to me as $300 and $142.90 was paid by my insurance and then they are billing me the balance, I wouldve never got this from my doctor. I couldve went to Krogers and got one for $14.99. This is just totally ridiculous and they know exactly what theyre doing to the consumer.

Active duty military member with ******* as insurance. Breg repeatedly delayed making a claim with my insurance as is required long enough to state that I am required directly. This is a clearly transparent attempt to extract a higher amount of money in a quicker manner.Timeline:2023 Feb 7: First attempt to call, provided insurance information, informed that an attempt to bill ******* had to be made.Feb 13. Second call with ******* She stated that the claims is in process, needed ***** days. HNFS portal and ******* both confirmed that same day that no attempt had actually been made. Insurance information provided again.Mar 30: Third call. "****" said that both previous reps did not write down the insurance company's namer, and therefore could not charge. Insurance information provided again, to include EDIPI, benefits number, name of company.Apr 4: 4th call. "*****" informed me that the claim was in process, and to wait. I verified the same day with ******* directly that no attempt was made for claims.Apr 21: 5th call. "******** W" stated that no claim attempt had been made due to no noted insurance information. She stated she was familiar with *******, and that my social security number was required. Provided both that and previous EDIPI and benefits number.Jun 20: 6th call. "****" said he did not know why no claim was made, and said he escalated the case.On my most recent call on Aug 18 with "****", I was told that because "customer did not provide insurance information", I would be required to pay. All calls are recorded on your end, and I informed your representatives when I was recording the call as well due to ********** requiring both parties to consent. I also have documentation that the bill was zeroed for several months before receiving a bill again, so an issue that I thought was resolved was only reopened after enough time had passed for Breg to make this claim.

My son fractured his thumb in March 2023 and went to ************ They gave him a wrist/hand brace. When I received the bill from Breg, my son was charged for two braces. I called my insurance company, who explained Breg would need to submit a new claim with the correct number of braces. I called Breg and they confirmed my son was charged for two braces and they would look into it and resubmit it to the insurance company. The next month I got another bill from Breg, with the same issue. I called again, and they told me they were waiting for *********** to respond with how many braces they gave my son. I explained he fractured a thumb and received ONE brace. They said they would resolve this as soon as they hear from ************ I said do I have to keep calling you if I receive another wrong bill; they said no, and it should be resolved soon. Well, a few months have gone by, and now Breg has sent my 19 yr old son to collections! No communication, no resolution to their investigation, or results of their communication with ************ To say I am a bit upset is an understatement. Totally shady company. How do you do that to a 19 yr old for a $142 crappy brace?

I needed to visit the urgent care clinic while visiting ******* in June, 2023. I was provided a sling for which today ***************** said via telephone was not charged for or billed for, looking at my statement on their end and my own statement from my end. I have never heard of Breg however found online they sell braces and such. This UC is the one only possibly and they did not charge me or send out billing. The doctor said the brace was only $14 and not to worry about it. But today I received a text purporting to be from Breg with no indication of amount due or date of service. I researched online and saw scam after scam report. If I owe anything, it should have come from the hospital and my bill there is zero at this time and has been zero from a few moment after receiving my electronic bill. Resolution required: if it is factual that I owe anything, please bill the hospital and I will pay that way, or send a detailed invoice including date of services to the address on file - NOT to my cell phone with a mysterious link asking, one would presume, with my financial information. Not gonna happen.

The is my first BBB review ever, because this is the absolute worst company I have ever encountered. I had surgery out of state, and was prescribed a Breg machine ($300+ not covered by insurance). The rep failed to call back multiple times and the doctor's ****** actually had to assist me in getting a response from Breg the day before surgery. Finally we paid in full through our HSA card, and it was to be delivered to my home by the time I arrived. However, by the time it did finally arrived, I no longer needed it. It then took multiple calls and emails to get anyone to respond with proper info to return the machine. A rep finally told me to cram the pads and machine into the same box and send with a ***** label, which I did. Tracking showed that it was received by Breg. I called a couple of weeks after their receipt to ask about my refund. As usual, I got passed around with each rep saying that wasn't their department and not knowing who to exactly to contact to address my refund. How is that possible? Finally, a rep said that they could not refund my card, they would send a refund by check and that it would take a month from the time of their receipt of the return. He indicated that he would try to expedite it. Well, it has been over 5 weeks, and still no refund. So I start the phone calls again. This time it took two calls, before I finally got sent to the ************** the rep said my account had a $0 balance. I kept explaining to her "Yes, that it because we paid for the machine at time of purchase." Although she could see that I had an "account", she didn't have any information about what I purchased, when or if it was returned, or how I paid for the machine. WTH? I have now made two calls demanding to speak with a supervisor before I take further action against them. I've been dealing w/the run around for 2 mths. I'm sure they hope people just give up. I'm an attorney and will not let this go unaddressed. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Breg, Inc., price gouging/Medicare fraud. Went to local Urgent Care after fall (slight fracture of left wrist). I had my own brace I bought at WM for less than $25.00. Was told it wasn't good enough and I needed a Breg brace (Apollo Univ Wrst w/spica left). I have ****** ********** ******** ********* and had not met my deductible so I was sent a bill from Breg for $300.00 of which they evidently wrote off 146.63 which left a balance of $153.37 for me to pay. The EXACT same wrist brace can be bought on ****** for $46.00. This is price gouging at its finest and Medicare fraud in my opinion. Just because I have medical insurance does NOT give a company the right to overcharge 6 times more than the same item sells for on ******. I filed a complaint with Breg, Inc., but they denied the complaint. I have contacted ****** ********** ******** ********* and apparently they don't care that they are being charged 6 times the going price for this wrist brace on ****** (no wonder Medicare is broke). I have filed a complaint with my local insurance board and with the ******** ******** ******l consumer complaint division. I was NOT told the price of this item at Urgent Care and received a letter from Breg, Inc., saying that ********* ****** **** is not to provide any pricing for items they are not billing for". Why? Because a patient would choose NOT to take a $300 priced brace that can be bought for $46.00 on Amazon ... that's why!

Hello ******,Thank you for reaching out! Breg is committed to providing our customers with high quality and service. This is why we disclose Bregs billing information on the Breg ******* Services Proof of Delivery form you signed when the device was issued. I apologize for the confusion of the communication that stated the clinic is not to provide any pricing for the items that they do not bill for. When in fact, the clinic should ALWAYS provide the estimated product cost to EVERY patient. If you still have your Breg ******* Services form, please refer to Page One. This patient signature page has a Patient Acknowledgement Section which includes ***************** Responsibility and refers the patient to Page 2 for the Product Price List. Page 2 of the Breg ******* Services form provides the estimated price for each product category. While the clinic may not be able to provide an exact quote of the amount owed, the clinic will provide the Product Price List as an estimate of cost. Please note that the exact amount owed will vary as this is determined by the patients insurance plan, deductible, and secondary coverage. You also expressed concern that the Breg list price of $300 was too high and considered this ******** fraud. However, it is the Center for ******** and ******** Services that sets the price. CMS provides a complete listing of fees for suppliers to use when billing for medical equipment. ******** has posted the allowable amount for the device you received as $310.85. ******** has posted this fee schedule for public viewing. You may find the 2023 Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies January 2023 Fee Schedule at *************************************************************************************************** you need anything, please feel free to email ** directly at ********************************************** We are happy to assist you with any additional concerns or questions.Breg

So what you are saying is, because ******** allows you to bill $300+ for an item that can be bought (your EXACT Breg brace) on Amazon for $46.00 (which isn't what it costs Breg to make) or less on the www at medical supply warehouses, that it is morally okay to stick it to ******** (which we ALL pay out of our paycheck) or individuals insurance, or in my case to me, so you can get 6 times what the item is worth in profit? I don't care what ******** allows, you are charging many times more than you should be. No wonder ******** is broke! This is wrong and we all know it.

Went to a clinic for my foot, they said they will give me a boot, a person came and gave me a paper to sign, like other reviews they're nothing on the paper stating an amount that I have to pay when the bill come. So they put the boot and went home. After a few weeks a bill came, charging me a $277 for a boot that you can get somewhere for a lot.cheaper. I felt being robbed of having a choice and information about the boot whether you get the boot from the clinic for a hefty price or you get it somewhere else for a cheaper price. Please give your patients a choice to decide before you give that pricy boot coz not all patient can afford to pay a very pricy boot.
