I am moving to *********, ** to start an assistant baseball coach position at **************************. The day of my move, I received a call from HR at **** informing me that the background check provided by Accurate Background had come back showing a felony in ***************** in 2019. I have never been arrested in my life!! And at that time, I wasn't even in that area. I have had 2 coaching positions since 2019, at ************** and ***************************, and both background checks came back clean. So now the position offer at **** is on hold and I have already moved my household and procured a place to live in *********. Speaking with Accurate Background is impossible as the employees barely speak understandable English. The first time I called, they were going to send a copy of the report to my email, but I never received it. The second time I called, they said they could not provide the report to me. I contacted the Alachua *************************** and got an affidavit that shows I have NEVER had any arrests. However, it was discovered that there was an arrest of someone with the name ***** ***** during that time frame and the charge was the same that was claimed of me. So they obviously have the wrong person. Different last name by one letter and also a different middle name. This has caused me much emotional distress and if it is not cleared up quickly, will also be causing financial loss and reputation damage.Business Response

My background check for employment was submitted to Accurate on 06/14/2025. Today is 06/26/2025 and they still have not completed my background check. Ive had two other checks done on me within the past six months and they were both done within 24 hours. I was told theyre waiting on government agencies but I called the local office here and they said a report back from them takes less than 24 hours. Ive only lived in two counties my entire life so there is zero reason why a simple check should be taking this long. Ive had three shifts taken away from me and they are going to withdraw my application all together just because Accurate cant get do their job. I have no record so I know theres no reason for it to be taking this long! This is causing me and my family serious hardship for no reason at all. After searching the internet for answers I see that this is a common thing with Accurate. If they cant do their job in a timely manner, they shouldnt be allowed to operate at all!Business Response

This generic, cut and paste answer isnt enough and I dont accept it! I know how this works. The information youre looking for in my background check is literally public record and can be accessed online, for free! I know the ***** in ****** is not the reason for this severe delay because I used to work there and I know exactly how these background checks go. Accurate is not doing their jobs and Im really tired of hearing these generic excuses that you tell everyone who has a question or complaint.
I would just like the lying to stop and for my background check to be completed.
Heres an example for you. My sister and I applied for this position on the same day, we did the intake process and drug screenings together on the same day, and we had our background checks initiated the same day. We both have lived in only the same two counties and both have no criminal records. Her background check came back in less than one business day and here we are waiting for mine two weeks later.
The company has threatened to rescind my offer because my background check hasnt come back yet and if that happens I will be looking further into this and taking legal action. People have bills and though I have high limit credit cards, I shouldnt have to be living off of them because a company cant seem to complete a simple background check. Ive had over 20 done on me and this is the first time its taken more than a day. Accurate should be embarrassed.
This is unacceptable and if Accurate does not do their jobs I will be pursuing legal actions for monetary losses incurred due to their incompetent business practices.

On May 21, 2025, I submitted documents authorizing Accurate Background to complete a criminal history check for a new prospective employer. As a ***** resident, state law dictates that consumer background checks can only report convictions that occured within the preceding 7 years. I have lived in the same county and state for the preceding 7 years. The county in which I reside has a fully digital criminal court record index searchable online for free. I have called every day for the preceding week to Accurate Background and each time I have asked for a status update, Accurate Background offshore employees reply from a script that "we are waiting only for the criminal history checks to be finished". When I ask the employee what court system they are waiting on, the employee cannot answer and instead gives a very confusing and nonsensical response which does not address my question. I have been submitted to numerous background checks over the preceding several years with other vendors, and it has never taken more than 72 hours to complete. Accurate Background is on day 7 with zero progress. This is unacceptable and prevents me from being able to take on new employment. The other complaints concerning Accurate Background share a similar theme. If a company cannot perform their core function, they should not be in business.Business Response

As of today, April 21, 2025, Accurate Background has still failed to complete my background check, which began on March 25. My prospective employer requested the background check on March 24, and I submitted all required documents the following day. On April 3, Accurate marked the background check as "complete," even though they had not obtained my criminal record from one of the counties I have lived in. Instead of marking that countys criminal records section as no records found, they incorrectly labeled it as complete simply because they were unable to obtain the document. This misrepresentation prompted my prospective employer to request that the case be reopened on April 8. Since then, Accurate has failed to make any meaningful progress. Despite my repeated explanations that the Courthouse does not issue criminal records, and that only the *************** does, Accurate has continued to contact the wrong government entity. I have repeatedly provided Accurate with the correct contact information for the ***************, including their mailing address, phone number, and email. I even arranged for the *************** to email the document directly to Accurate, which they acknowledged as valid. However, they claim they cannot use it due to internal protocol, insisting that the request must come directly from them, even though they have yet to contact the correct agency. Despite multiple escalations to agents, team leads, supervisors, and managers, Accurate Background has consistently failed to act. Due to this delay, I have already missed two scheduled training classes with my prospective employer and am about to miss a third. I am formally requesting the Better Business Bureau to pressure Accurate Background to complete my background check by contacting the *************** or to compensate me for the damages caused by their negligence and continued inaction.Business Response

As expected, your response is generic and inaccurate in the context of my background check.The core problem is this:Accurate Background continues to contact the Mono County Superior Court, even though I have repeatedly informed your team that the **************************** is the correct agency for the required records. Despite receiving a valid criminal record directly from the ***************, your team refuses to use it and still has not contacted the correct agency.Key differences between these two agencies:- Mono County Superior Court provides court records only if a case was filed and wont have records of arrests with no charges.- Mono County *************** provides arrest, detention, and local criminal history records and may have records even if no case was filed in court, which is essential for a full and accurate background check.Why this matters: Because Accurate is contacting the wrong entity, the background check is incomplete. The *************** already provided the correct record, but Accurate refuses to act on it or reach out themselves.My request: Escalate this to someone who can immediately contact the *************************** using the contact information Ive already provided. I am perplexed that this company is still in business. I have seen dozens of reviews expressing the same concern as mine. I have followed up many many times to check the status of my background check. I have a clean record and previous companies passed my background within a matter of days. I submitted my background check with Accurate on 2/7/25. It is currently 3/12/2025. The #1 asset a person can have is their income. Accurate is preventing this. I am officially filing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau against Accurate Background as their inability to read this document correctly is causing a significant delay in my employment and is effecting my livelihood. They are refusing to finalize this process because they are claiming that the date of birth written on the document is incorrect, but I've contacted them several times and their representative agree with me over the phone that it is correct. The date of birth written on the document is ********** and they are claiming that it is 02-07-1998. Before this, they were trying to say that the 7 looked like a 2. I've contacted them several times and have had to make a few other minor corrections. I feel like they are intentionally causing a delay in this process and are refusing to finalize it. This is the 3rd time I have been forced by an employer to use the company accurate background for a background screening. Every time it has taken over 100 days when they promise a 10 day turn around. I have called and messaged over 100 times and am left on hold for hours, the employee will lie and tell me they will give me a manger and instead the same person gets back on the phone and tells me a different name. They are disrespectful, they are liars, and this is not a business built on American principles.Business Response
