I leased a solar system about 8 years ago, system has been operating OK until a year ago when one of the inverters went down. It took them two months to send someone to check the system, one more month to order it and to this day it has not been replaced. As background, it was not until January that I was assigned to a so called "Escalation Specialist" who communicated via email and seldom replied with updates. It was not until I started to complain via social media that he came up with a "no update" on when we will receive a replacement inverter. Last month, finally he said they have one (he even gave me a model #) and to this day, still no idea when this "new replacement inverter" will be installed. A total disaster to their current costumers.****************SunPower Corporation

I'm very frustrated with SunPower billing. Their autopay doesn't work. I keep calling and setting it up and next month it won't work. Their system is now charging me for late payment when I was not late. I keep calling every week and they say they'll get to it but now the bill for next month is showing and it's double assuming that my payment from last month was late. Why should paying a **** bill be so frustrating. I've never had an issue like this with any other company I do business with. I wish I could end my lease and not continue with them. I keep asking to talk to a supervisor and they don't put me in contact with a higher up.SunPower Corporation

Completely unethical. Stay away. I had a sales person come out to give me a quote. They wanted me to sign a 25 year contract without even reading it when I wouldn't the sales person got angry and stormed out. The numbers on the contract didn't even make sense. I was going to pay more with solar than I was for electric. He continued to tell me that since I had net metering I was going to get paid by ********** at the end of the year. The next day I got another quote from a different company. They explained that is not how net metering works. The payout is only a small fraction of the cost. So I would barely get anything back. Every time I did the math on SunPower contract I was way over paying. Over $90k on the life of the contract which was 25 years for equipment if I bought out of pocket would have been around $30k. Stay far away from this company. I ended up get another company on a 3 year contract for less money with more KW system and a lower price. They are just stealing from people. DO NOT USE THEM. I don't even understand how they have an A rating with all the complaints and bad reviews.SunPower Corporation

I hired ********* in October 2023, they seemed reputable but they used a 3rd party company from ABQ. That company ended up shutting down due to fraud and illegal activity by their CEO. Their contractor came out fast, built the system fast and seemed legit. But then after no response for 2months, then finding out from City my permit app expired, then finding out from the new electrician I hired the panels on the roof were knock off brand and not the Maxeon's I bought from sun power, then opening a case and having a sunpowr rep ***** Street" repeatedly string me along for 5 months lying about doing things and saying he'd call me back with updates nearly every 2-3 weeks and get 0 response then needing to chase me him down on calls where he would still dodge. Then finally *************** told me that I have an account but doesn't have a receipt of my purchase of the Maxeons for which I have a contract with Jaga Networks (the 3rd party that got shut down). **** has now been dodging my calls and even today saying he was going to call me back when I spoke to the call center rep (2 weeks after the date in his email I'd get a call back) and that coincidently his supervisor is out of the office. ******, tried very hard, but literally couldnt get another rep on the phone to help me and i am stuck with only this one man, who has been unprofessional and unreliable for 4 months. This company is feeling more and more like a shell company in a garage somewhere out of the movie boiler room. The hope I have is I get sunpower to send a rep out to review my account and remove the panels that aren't the ones I bought and give me the actual panels I purchased, and that way my electrician can submit the permit app to the city to finally get some working solar by the 10th month of this. I also believe **** should be demoted or fired as this level of inadequacy shouldn't be something sunpower allows in their company, and finally they vet their 3rd party reps. Let this be a warning to potential consumers who are thinking of sighing up with Sunpower solar, dont. I would not wish this on my worst enemies and thats if I have any. They will lie to you about the savings if you sign up. Getting solar through them is a big mistake I will have to live with. Nothing but issues and delayed response from them to correct the problems. This recent issue is the system is not working. Its almost the middle of the summer where Ill get the most sun. I called Sunpower and they told me that the earliest they can get someone out here is on September 9th, two months away. Im paying for the panels monthly $120 which was my average monthly electric bill. They told me my monthly bill for the solar would be $80 and I would get couple thousand dollars in rebate which I should send to the financing company to keep payment the same. Ive yet to receive such money and now my monthly is $120. The system is not working and now I will end up not only paying for the panels but electric bill as well. Please BBB help me with this matter. Please protect us consumers from situations like this. Its really stressfulSunPower Corporation

We contracted with SunPower ins October 2023. We paid the company $48,400 to initiated the installation. Our panels were installed in February 2024. The batteries and hub were installed at that time as well. There was considerable problems with the location of the batteries and hub as the design staff at SolarPower did not coordinate with the actual installers--who may have been a subcontractor. We had requested that the batteries be located on the east side of our garage, out of view and sheltered from the sun. The installer indicated that the conduit from the hub to the roof panels could not make turns so they ripped out plants, poured a sloppy concrete slab and installed the batteries and hub on the ***** of our house! The workmanship is shoddy at best and they left it all to us to clean up and try to restore the planting. We have been waiting since March for SolarPower to comply with the requirements from PG&E and we are still waiting. The power that has been generated over the past 4 months has gone to PG&E but we have not received any credit for that power. Our bill has not gone down. SunPower did not know what equipment was acceptable to PG&E, in spite of touting the company as the biggest and best with years of experience and know-how! We learned in April that the company reduced their staff by ***** people and we are now trying to communicate with the 4th project coordinator to handle all the issues. Responses from SunPower take weeks for the most part and they don't seem to have a grasp on any of their proprietary products (batteries, etc.)We do not imagine that SunPower is capable of completing our project and are deeply concerned that all the components and the system itself will not be warranted if/when the company goes completely out of business, if they haven't already. Should they actually complete the project and get Permission to Operate from PG&E, we will still owe them $12,100.00.SunPower Corporation

If I could give zero stars, I would. Im currently in escrow for a home with solar panels from ********** The panels are leased. We have been attempting to assume the loan since May 28th, and they have given us this horrible run around, saying it will take 60+ days to simply get the packet for us to run our credit to make sure we can assume the loan, not giving us information for not being authorized users, then when the sellers made us authorized, we mysteriously were taken off. That happened 3 different times. We decided to settle the loan with the sellers, theyre paying it off and we will be paying them half, and now Sunpower wont give them the payoff stub, and on the same day they finally send us what we need to run our credit. They wouldnt allow us to directly speak to supervisors, constantly giving us excuses. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, I will never do business with them.SunPower Corporation

I did my research back mid 2023 and Supower had wonder reviews I cancelled my contract with a different solar panel company to go with Sunpower, our panels were installed late 2023 and we have yet to see any savings with our electrical company (mind you we installed extra solar panels so that we would always have a surplus of electricity) we are currently paying our full electric bill along with $165 for solar panels. don't waste your time and money installing solar panelsSunPower Corporation
