      Warning! Do not buy. I ordered a ******* tortoise and I was there to sign for the arrival of the tortoise and it was dead on arrival. I could not get my money back. There is no way to contact this business. The phone number and email do not work. Do not work to contact them. Do your research.

      Ordered over $100 in feeder bugs for my beardie from Backwater Reptiles. Received part of the order (the cheapest part) in a box they were crawling out of and over half were dead. The bugs also reeked so bad I had to rinse them in a strainer and store them in the garage. The return address on the box was not from Backwater Reptiles so I'm guessing it was a drop shipment. I put in a refund request through my payment source (PayPal) because I never received the bugs that cost $80 and what I did receive was half dead. Backwater said they would refund if I canceled my claim in PayPal. I wasn't comfortable doing that because they were already coming across sketchy and if I did that I could not reopen the claim. It was denied by PayPal in the end because they had a tracking number from the seller that showed as delivered. No appeal option and never heard back from Backwater about the alleged offer to refund. Don't do it.

      Waring! Beware! I purchased a SMALL Amazon tree boa (*****- 30 ***** I received a LARGE Amazon tree boa. (50) it also had two pretty large bite marks that looked fairly freshly scarred over on its body. Looks to be from feeding. Also had to start over bite marks on the top of its head.After emailing them and getting a response back. They asked me to send a picture with the packing slip together. Their response, and they acknowledged that they sent me a large boa. Instead of sending me a small boa to fix the problem. They do not accept returns so they want me to keep the large boa and they told me they would give me a discount if I purchased a second snake. Which does not make sense. I purchased a small, so why would I get a large and then have to purchase another small??? To top it off the discount they offered was $20 off of $169 snake plus free shipping I told them to send me a ***** return packing slip, and I will return the large boa. Just send me the small. So now I am stuck with an adult size Amazon tree boa. I have to go buy a larger set up now because my first set up was for a small Amazon tree boa. Since I didnt accept or agree to their $20 discount off a second snake or take their $69 refund they told me to have a nice day, and if I change my mind to reach out to them.Terrible customer service. I asked to speak to a manager over five times and not once did I receive a call or receive a message from any type of management. After reading all the reviews and watching all the ******* reviews I wouldve never done business with this company. And honestly, ** surprised this company is even in business.So now I have to waste my time to file a small claims against them. Over $169 snake. When this couldve easily been avoided and kept out of court. But I refuse to allow a s***** company continuously take the money of office people.

      I am so absolutely livid and disappointed. I was ecstatic to receive my iguana bluey and got attached so quickly. The packaging was bs and this is not the first time. I saw the reviews on reddit and bbb after she passed away.These are not healthy animals! I wish I knew before but know now that they rip these animals from the wild. They are not captive breed. What they did to my bluey is wrong and many other animals. The vet said she clearly had awful husbandry long before I got her. The vet said she was extremely dehydrated, sick, more than likely mbd disorder and calcium deficient was a factor. She started siezing last night and I had to rush her to the emergency vet only to be told there was nothing they could do.5 days I have had her and it was a traumatic and heart breaking experience!!!I want what I paid for my poor bluey and her shipping back and they need to pay for my emergency vet bill!Another persons toroise was shipped in a plastic ***** container that was rapped in tape! I have a witness from a ********* employee that was also appalled by their packaging as well as a friend who was with me when we opened her box at the store. No air holes and not even a live animal label. The box was so small that her body was curved and her tail was rapped around her twice! I couldn't even fit my whole hand in it! They should be ashamed and quite frankly shut down! I have photos from the day I received her showing she was pale and thin and in poor health the day she was recieved. How has nobody filed a class action or a petition to have them shut down?

      This company is a scam They do not honor their so-called 7 day live guarantee They take your money and send sick or dead animals DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!Then an animal dies which is on deliver or shortly thereafter they claim you didn't follow their instruction. But I know in my case that was not true. They play games with you and tell you different things so you will not try and get a refund What they do is illegal You can't contact them as they have a non-existent phone number and contact form on their web site Again do not buy from them!!

      This place is a scam. I ordered 3 red-eyed tree frogs from them, and 2 of the 3 arrived dead. The third was very lethargic, had broken toes, bruising and blood coming out of it's body. Within 10 minutes of receiving the order I emailed them about the shipment. I got a generic response but was assured that they had their live arrival policy and urged me to watch the third frog for 24 hours. I sent pictures of the dead and injured/sick frog telling them it was not going to live, but they did not seem to care. Less than 24 hours later, the third frog was also dead. I emailed back with the required pictures and asked for a full refund, at which time they decided to argue with me and claimed that it was my own opinion that the frog was sick and injured and that my refund request was denied. Why claim you have a 7-Day Live Arrival Guarantee if you're just going to outright deny the request? Based on the evidence and the facts, I'm almost certain they're knowingly shipping sick and/or dead animals. Again, in 5+ years of keeping frogs, I've shipped from several other vendors (some with no live arrival guarantee) and I've never had this issue with a vendor.I've ordered frogs from other vendors before and this is the only one that I've ever gotten sick, injured and dead frogs from. I find it hard to believe they have a "1.4% DOA rate" as they falsely advertise on their website. Of course, the customer service team here would rather argue with you than actually honor their refund policies. At this point, I'm left to dispute this as fraud with the credit card company investigators. I also took time to ****** the address that they shipped these frogs from (which was not the CA address they claim). This came from **********************************************************. Check out street view and you see a warehouse with a sign that says strictlyreptiles.tv which happens to be on the fraud watch list. This place is a bunch of scammers. Don't buy from them.

      Bad company and poor service. They do anything they can to not give you money back, all of the clauses are meant to make sure that if they make a mistake, or something happens, there's nothing you can do about it. They will not replace a DOA animal for the most mundane reasons. Spent $100 on a frog and shipping, DOA, and since the weather dipped below 40F in the area, there is no chance of a refund. They do not care about the animals, the frog was poorly packaged, and they obviously care about their customers even less. Do not order from them.

      I ordered a male Savannah monitor , was super happy when he arrived fat, and sweet. Turns out he is a she and was not just fat but super pregnant! Not upset in the slightest one of these little eggs will be a male I’m sure of it. Definitely got my moneys worth!
