I was looking for debt consolidation from debt that occurred during the ******19 pandemic. This company advised me verbally that they would settle with my credit companies. They verbally told me that my credit *** drop, but come back up within months, which was a lie. They waited so long to do anything that I was sent to collections and threatened to be sued so that my credit would be affected for 7 years. I asked the representative how they make their money and she did not disclose that they take 25% of what the settlement is. So what they do is purposely take higher than necessary settlements to make more money. I know this from contacting the credit companies and collection agency directly. Learning I could have had a lower settlement, I settled with one of the credit companies directly. Beyond Finance would not cancel the fee owed to them for settling this debt. This is a scam and should not be legal. I want my fees to Beyond Finance returned as they do not settle debt in best interest, I have had to settle my own debt, and they ruined my credit.Business Response

Ms. *******,
Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration you have experienced.
We confirmed your enrollment into the program on January 23, 2023. At the time of enrollment, the Account Specialist provided your Debt Resolution Agreement with you to review prior to your signing. Information fees can be located under the section titled "Debt Resolution Agreement" i 11. (a) "Program fees". It reads, in part, follows:
"ts first payment has been made towards new agreed upon terms. The Client agrees to pay the Company a fee in the amount of 25.0% percent of the balance of each debt enrolled into the program and where Company resolves the debt, whether directly or indirectly through Companys agents, with the creditor"
This fee is calculated on the enrolled balance, not the agreement amount. Beyond Finance strives to reach peak customer satisfaction by offering the most favorable arrangements.
Additionally, information about the impacts to enrolled accounts are covered in the same sections in paragraph 13. "Disclaimer:. It reads, in part, as follows:
"Clients enrolling in the Program may be subject to collections or sued by their creditors or debt collectors for nonpayment and Client must take this into consideration when determining whether or not to enroll in the Program."
Beyond Finance is happy to have secured arrangements on six of your enrolled accounts. You will continue to receive our best efforts in reaching favorable arrangements on your remaining enrolled account.
We are hopeful to have provided clarity to your concerns. We have scheduled an agent to reach out to ensure satisfaction.
Sincerely,

I signed up and set a payment of $970 a month to settle my debts. Ive been in the program for about 6 months and they have taken all but $50 in fees and only paid towards my debt $50 to date. They have not told me about the supposed fees. I was looking at my account and noticed my balance had gone to almost nothing and they gave no explanation as to why on there app. So I contacted them and learned that it had all gone to fees. Except for the 50 dollars that went to a creditor.Business Response

Upon signing up for Beyond Finance's services, I was assured by your representative that the fees associated with the program would be transparent and clearly communicated. However, to my dismay, I recently discovered that a non-mentioned 25% fee had been deducted from my account, totaling over $600. This fee was never disclosed to me during the initial sign-up process or at any point during my interaction with your representatives.Furthermore, the representative who assisted me purposely misled me by only mentioning a smaller fee associated with each settlement, while conveniently omitting any mention of the substantial 25% fee that would be charged. This deliberate act of deception is unacceptable and unethical, as it misled me into believing that I was fully informed about the financial implications of enrolling in Beyond Finance's program. It is evident that Beyond Finance intentionally leaves out crucial information about fees in order to entice consumers to join their program without fully understanding the financial burden they will incur. This lack of transparency and deceptive practices not only violate consumer rights but also ***** trust in your company's integrity and credibility. As a loyal customer who trusted ********************** to provide honest and transparent financial solutions, I am deeply disappointed and feel betrayed by the misleading information provided to me. I demand immediate reimbursement of the undisclosed 25% fee that was deducted from my account, as well as a formal apology for the deceptive practices employed by your company.I urge Beyond Finance to review its policies and ensure that all fees and charges are clearly disclosed to customers before they commit to any financial agreements. Transparency and honesty are fundamental principles that should guide your interactions with customers, and any deviation from these principles undermines the trust and respect that customers place in your company.Business Response

We confirmed your enrollment into the program on July 9, 2023. At the time of enrollment, the Account Specialist reviewed your Debt Resolution Agreement with you prior to your signing. Information about when fees are earned can be located under the section titled "Debt Resolution Agreement" in paragraph 11. (a) "Program Fees". It reads, in part, as follows:

Review of your enrollment interaction confirmed that the agent reviewed this fee with you. Beyond Finance prides itself on being transparent with our customers and ensuring all fees are disclosed clearly and accurately. We regret if there was any misunderstanding, but respectfully disagree that we failed to act responsibly.
Our records indicate that an Account Manager has made several attempts to reach you to discuss this matter, but they have been unsuccessful in connecting with you. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out as we are eager to assist.

During the enrollment process on July 9, 2023, your representative did not disclose the specific fee in question when I explicitly asked about all fees associated with the program. Additionally, I was misled to believe that your company operates as a ********** debt program at a lower cost. To my dismay, I later discovered that this claim was false and that your company falsely claimed to be working under the ********** Debt Reduction Act.
I have recorded phone calls that clearly demonstrate the representative's failure to disclose the fee and the misleading information provided. I believe this constitutes a breach of trust and a violation of ethical business practices.
I am left with no choice but to pursue further legal actions to address this matter. I will be sharing the recorded calls and all relevant documentation with my legal counsel to assess the appropriate course of action.Business Response

I have paid this company $300 per month and the only debt paid, according to them, was almost $400. Where is all the rest of my money? I have paid almost a year. I could have resolved my debts myself at this rate. They have closed with keeping all the funds I have paid them. Ms. ************************* you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration you have experienced.
We confirmed your enrollment into the program on May 13, 2023.
"Program fees are due and earned when: (i) the Company reaches a resolution on an enrolled debt with a creditor, (ii) the Client accepts and agrees to the new terms, and (iii) the first payment of the new agreed upon terms is made to the creditor"
At the time of your requested termination Beyond Finance had negotiated arrangements on four of your enrolled accounts which had been approved. One of those arrangements had been completed and the other three were still in process. There were still outstanding fees related to these agreements which were accelerated at the time of your termination request. Once processed, there were no remaining funds in your dedicated account.
You always have access to information as it relates to your dedicated account directly through ******************** Technologies (CFT). Rest assured Beyond Finance operated within all established expectations and regulatory and legal requirements.
We are hopeful we have been able to provide clarity to your concerns. Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

the words provided makes the debtor think debts would be satisfied as you make the payments, barely $300 was paid and agreed but not paid does not provide the service after paying the amount you claim is resolved with the first 30 days I paid your company. My debt increased because they still accumulated interest then you take $2400 putting in your own pocketno, this is not what I was led to know. Taking advantage of people in need is something you should be ashamed of. Then drain my account so there is no balance. Thanks but no thanksand not resolved satisfactory because you have no interest in proper resolution. I am sure I am not the only sucker you did not help but caused more harm. I will never forget your company and will never recommend it to anyone

Beyond finance gave $50 to penfed to help with my debt and took over $3700 to start receiving their 25% fee on the $22,600 enrolled debt. Total fee is $5,650. The settlement resolution got cancelled. But they still got their fee. Dont seem ethical at all. I wasnt aware of the cancellation until I accepted the new offer. Secondly, they dont discuss how they break down your monthly payment or new offer. I have a new settlement with regional finance that beyond finance worked out. Roughly $1300 while Ill be paying ****** monthly less than $80 will be going towards my debt the rest to beyond finance. That was never agreed upon thinking it would be going to my dedicated account for my debt. Even if in the agreement %25 was mention it was not mention that the monthly installment would split so disproportionately. Why not 50/50 at best.Business Response

************,
Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration you have experienced.
In your complaint you expressed dissatisfaction with the fees related to your program and the loss of an established arrangement.
We confirmed your enrollment into the program on February 10, 2023. At the time of enrollment, the Account Specialist reviewed your Debt Resolution Retainer Agreement with you prior to your signing. Information about when fees are earned can be located under the section titled "Debt Resolution Agreement" in paragraph 11. (a) "Program Fees". It reads, in part, as follows:
"Program fees are due and earned when: (i) the Company reaches a resolution on an enrolled debt with a creditor, (ii) the Client accepts and agrees to the new terms, and (iii) the first payment of the new agreed upon terms is made to the creditor"
Beyond Finance met all established expectations prior to earning any installment of the related fee. Our program is designed to care for both the payments on your active arrangements and the related fees throughout the lifetime of your enrollment.
Review of the referenced arrangement determined that it was lost due to insufficient funds to continue making the agreed upon payments. The success of arrangements is dependent upon consistent monthly program deposits. Records indicate that a missed program deposit in January resulted in there being insufficient funds available.
Your monthly deposit will be accounted for differently each month, there is no predetermined allotment to be applied towards creditor payments and fees. Items such as creditor payments and program fees are strategically cared for to put you in the best position for success in the program.
We are hopeful we have been able to provide clarity to your concerns. We have scheduled to have an agent reach out to you directly to ensure you have no additional questions.
Sincerely,

On February 13th, I reached out to the company to reduce my payments after settling a debt with a collector. To my surprise, I was informed of an additional $2,000 fee on top of the settlement amount. Feeling misled, I politely requested to cancel the service. The customer service representative assured me of a full refund and a follow-up call. Two days later, I received the promised call confirming my termination and refund. However, on February 20th, upon checking my bank account, I discovered only $2,107.40 refunded out of the $3,440 deposit I made to pay off the debt. Perplexed, I called the company and was informed that the fee for the settlement had been deducted, contrary to the assurances given by two representatives. The agent admitted the mistake, acknowledging that they hadn't reviewed the chat records, which I had fortunately documented with screenshots.Feeling deceived, I lamented the lack of integrity in their service and regretted not recording our conversations. Moreover, the initial representative I spoke with resorted to threats during our discussion. As a result of this ordeal, I not only lost the settlement with the creditor but also have to repay the default debt and contend with this unjust situation. It's clear that this company engages in deceptive practices and lacks professionalism.Business Response

We confirmed your enrollment into the program on September, 2023. At the time of enrollment, the Account Specialist reviewed your Debt Resolution Agreement with you prior to your signing. "Program fees are due and earned when: (i) the Company reaches a resolution on an enrolled debt with a creditor, (ii) the Client accepts and agrees to the new terms, and (iii) the first payment of the new agreed upon terms is made to the creditor."
This section was clearly covered during your enrollment experience. Beyond Finance met all established criteria prior to earning any installment of the fee. Our dedicated agents were proactive when you advised that you had deposited funds to pay off your arrangement and advised you of the need to request a payoff figure. They then processed to assist you with that matter.
At the time of your requested termination you were advised a refund would be issued but it was not established the amount of the refund. The refund was issued accurately and in accordance with established expectations. We regret if you had a less than favorable experience, however our agents are passionate about assisting our clients and ensuring they provide all possible options.
We are hopeful we have been able to provide some additional clarity to your concerns. At this time, Beyond Finance will not be issuing an additional refund. Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Beyond Finance showed blatant negligence by intentionally excluding extremely relevant financial information about their program when trying to enroll me. They did not say anything about their exorbitant fees and made no mention that debt settlements are taxable income. I am now in a WORSE financial situation after signing on with them because I was not made aware of these very relevant details before signing on. I will now pay even more money than I would have without signing on with them after paying taxes on the reductions plus their fees. When asked about this they just said there was nothing they could do since I signed the contract.Business Response

I signed up with Beyond Finance back in June as a way to avoid bankruptcy. They promised me the world and I thought that as long as I was paying money I would be fine with creditors. However, I started getting lawyer letters advertisementing to represent me in a lawsuit involving one of my creditors. I contacted beyond and they told me to brush it off and give them more money. I did some digging and sure enough the lawsuit was legit. I did not use the lawyers who were advertising my business but another one. After talking to him, I decided that in order to protect myself and my family, I would go ahead and file. I called to terminate the program and at first they said that they would give me my money back and that I should stay with them because we've come so far. Again, I told them I could not take the risk, that I wanted my last deposit back. The account manager told me that it would be used to pay for fees that helped me get so far. I told them I still wanted to terminate the program and they told me that I was messing up the progress I made and that I should take the creditor out of the program and settle with them in mediation. I told them that I might as well file for bankruptcy so that I can atleast have proper legal representation at all times (they do not provide the attorney but legal advice at an additional fee). I would be happy with my last deposit back so that I could put it towards my lawyer retainer.Business Response

Ive been giving Beyond finance $176 bi weekly for over 4 months. They settle one $600 debt. They kept draining what they call my dedicated savings account for their fees. Now I have cancelled the program. After telling me I would no longer have anymore money taken from my account by them another $50 comes out unexpectedly. After that withdrawal I get a new email saying I still owe $741 to their fees after I cancelled. This place is a ripppff I see many complaints. Why isnt anything done to protect the consumer ? However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
