On December 21st, I had a hair appointment with Nae ****** that quickly became one of the worst experiences Ive ever had. She arrived 15 minutes late, mentioning she wasnt feeling well. After washing my hair, she left me sitting with wet hair in the cold shop for 30 minutes without informing me, choosing to warm up in her car instead.Despite offering to reschedule, she insisted on finishing the appointment, claiming she had high-risk anemia and couldnt tolerate the cold. To accommodate her, I agreed to finish the appointment at her house an uncomfortable situation I shouldnt have been placed in.The installation took five hours, and she refused to style the hair I had purchased even though I asked weeks prior which hair to buy. The sew-in only lasted seven days before unraveling due to poor installation.She offered a free reinstall to make up for the poor service, so I purchased $170 worth of high-quality hair that she recommended. I reached out multiple times to confirm the appointment, but my messages were ignored. On the day of the reinstall, she never showed up and never apologized. The only time she responded was after I disputed the charge through StyleSeat.I reached out to the shop owner with no response. Nae ****** later claimed she couldnt access her phone, but that doesnt excuse the lack of communication.I understand health struggles, but if shes unable to fulfill appointments, she shouldnt be booking clients. This experience left me feeling scammed and disrespected. I would never dispute a charge without reason. My bank was helpful in resolving the issue, but I believe her StyleSeat account should be suspended until shes fit to provide quality service.Business Response

I canceled my appointment not even 5 minutes after booking it and it was the day before the appointment was to take place. I have locs and dont get my hair done often. I tried booking that appointment at 6 pm on Thursday for 3 people. Your styleseat schedule only accepted 2 bookings and I needed one more time slot. There was none so I canceled my appointment and I found someone who could accommodate me. I was not going to reach out to the stylist because I didnt have the time so I just found someone else. The fact that I canceled within 5 minutes of scheduling my appointment and I cant get a refund is crazy to me. If I attended this shop regularly this wouldnt be a problem. But the stylist herself only sees me at least twice a year. Why would I give her 84 dollars for a hairstyle that I dont plan to get for another 6 months or longer. I have bills and not any money to give away. She didnt even perform a service. Photo evidence of me canceling my appointment is being provided as well. If this is how business is going to get conducted through your site I will take legal action.Business Response

It's important to note that professionals have the option to implement a No-Show and Late Cancellation Policy, which they may choose to use to charge when a client misses their appointment or cancels within 24 hours of the appointments start time. This policy is displayed on their profile page.

I closed my StyleSeat account as I do not provide services anymore about 2weeks ago. I closed my business email account and my business phone number. Yesterday I received a $102 business to business payout on my bank account. This makes no sense, I dont even have an account anymore and $102 is no little money.Business Response

business via their platform. StyleSeat has no vetting process and no verification of business licenses or locations. Scary! I will not use StyleSeat again and will advise others of the same, especially senior citizens

On January 19th I made an appointment on styleseat with a lady that goes by the name of Denali ***** (Nali did it) . I paid my $32 deposit and she confirmed the appointment for 5:15PM. I contacted her in the morning asking for her address and she proceeded to say that I had to fill out a form in order for her to send the address. I filled the form out and communication stopped. She text me back through the app at 5:08PM asking if I can change the time of my appointment to 6:30 since she is running behind. I said the only way that Ill agree to that is if she deducts money because she is inconveniencing me and its unprofessional. She stated NO, her deposits are non refundable. I would understand if I was late for the appointment or if I cancelled or if I was a no show then you can take my deposit but SHE was the one that had terrible communication and on top of that wanted to change my appointment time.Business Response

I am filing a formal complaint against StyleSeat, an online booking platform for hairstylists, for withholding payouts owed to me as a professional using their service.StyleSeat owes me two payouts totaling $228.97 ($120.60 and $108.37), dating back to 2024. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue via email, StyleSeat has failed to remit the funds or provide an adequate explanation for the delay. On Saturday 1/5, I used StyleSeat for the first time to book a hair appointment for the next day. My card was immediately charged before any service was rendered. I attempted on several occasions after booking to contact the stylist to confirm the appointment and any supplies Id need to bring. The stylist never responded nor confirmed the appointment or details. I reported it to StyleSeat and they also never responded but proceeded to charge my card again. I reported the charge with my bank and will never ever book anything on that website and would advise against it as theres no security measures for the website to steal money without rendering any services.Business Response

Style seat is willingly and knowingly being used by hair stylists to steal money from clients seeking services by way of deposits and increasing charges and stating it is style seat imposing these additional charges. Style seat and the stylists that use this platform are using this application to take advantage of citizens that are willing to pay for services and this should not be allowed anymore. First, they stole the deposit. I was informed the deposit was to hold the appointment and that it would be deducted from the total cost at the end of the appointment. The deposit was never applied. Second, the stylist charged me an additional 20% on top of the charges for the appointment and stated that style seat made her do this and that she would go through style seat to try and get those costs refunded or refund it to me from her directly. It turned out to be a complete lie as I found out Style Seat does not set the cost. I did not get my money back at all. I was taken advantage of. When I tried communicating with the stylist by calling and she did not call me back. She texted me back stating very negative and unprofessional comments and not acknowledging the refund she promised for the mistake in total charges. She would not return or apply my deposit either although the terms state clearly they should be applied to total charges. The stylist and Style seat stole $121+ for the mistake in charges.Business Response

Complaint: 22771047I am rejecting this response because StyleSeat has been a significant part of the problem. It took over seven days for StyleSeat to even acknowledge my issue, and I only received a response after escalating the matter to the Better Business Bureau. If I had not gone to the BBB, I firmly believe I would not have received any communication from you. This lack of urgency and care demonstrates a disregard for maintaining long-term clients, echoing the poor experience I had with the stylist in question.
I have taken these measures because I was treated unfairly, and StyleSeat's handling of the matter has only compounded the issue. Your customer serviceor lack thereofhas been horrendous. I asked to stop communication because your approach has felt dismissive and gaslighting. For instance, you sent me a follow-up review asking if the situation was resolved, to which I responded "no," explaining that I felt taken advantage of by the stylist. My response was intended as private feedback for StyleSeat, yet you forwarded this to the stylist without my consent.
As a result, the stylist responded with dismissive and mocking messages, exacerbating an already stressful situation. She now has my money and, emboldened by your actions, continued to gaslight me. My private review was meant to highlight how StyleSeat failed to address my concernsnot to fuel further conflict.
I feel scammed, and based on my experience and what Ive seen from others, this seems to be a consistent issue with your platform. Have you implemented any changes to protect clients, or will you continue to shift the blame onto your users?

I put a 49.00 deposit towards my hair style. ****** said the 49.00 would not go towards my hair. My hair style was 160.00 I paid 49,00. 49.00 was supposed to be taken off of 160.00. Also her address was at a business location that was listed on Stule seat website. She told me. She doesn't have a business. But instead she has to come to your houses I feel uncomfortable with someone coming to my house which on her website states she has a business in ********** ** ***** ****. So she is getting 160.00 +49 from me. No I want my 49,00 back into my account. ****** isn't an honest hair styler.Business Response
