      **** submitted my documentation to Checkr for a background check. I received an email from Checkr asking for more information. Checkr wanted me to input my social security number (***), which I submitted correctly. Checkr was unable to complete my background check with the social security number that I provided. The social security I entered is the same social security number I used to sign into the Checkr candidate portal. This same *** is also used to pass my recent background checks for other companies like ******** and ******. I only have one social security and I made sure I inputted the right ***. I uploaded Checkr my social security card, but they said that **** candidates cannot provide *** information. However, if I can't provide *** information why did Checkr ask me to enter my *** information in the first place. I am being denied a completed background check because Checkr refuses to accept my *** card, refuses to allow me to dispute the incorrect *** number, and refuses to ask **** to verify my ***. The *** has not changed, as it's the same *** that was on my **** profile for the last 8 years. I even passed the background check using the same *** last year. **** has also verified my *** on their end. Checkr support also acknowledge I typed in the *** number correctly but wasn't able to generate a report from it. The Checkr customer support is non existence. There is no live person to talk to. Their chat option is a bot and if you ask to chat with an agent, their agent will disconnect the chat and offer no solutions after copy and pasting canned responses.

      I used Checkr to run a background check on an employee I was hiring. I found information online saying Checkr is a good company for people who only have an ITIN and not a SSN which was the case for the person I was looking to hire. I went through Checkr's system to purchase the background check, and my employee was unable to complete the request that was sent to him through Checkr because he only has an ITIN number for his tax and not a social security number, therefore Checkr's system could not process the report. I emailed Checkr MULTIPLE times and they did not answer so I had to open up a new support ticket. Only after a week did someone respond and sound sympathetic to the fact that I was charged for a service they didn't deliver on. That person also disappeared shortly thereafter. Finally I reached back out to let them know if I didn't hear back I would be reaching out to the BBB and would leave public remarks about my experience. They replied that they have no control providing refunds and that was it, they closed my support ticket case and I received an email it was dismissed. It would be great if the BBB can help/look into this but I'll also be taking this into my own hands with leaving a negative review just about anywhere I can find that will let me publicly review a company.

      Checkr continues to push the completion date for my background check further. Everytime the final day approaches I Receive a new date. My Background Is Spotless Including me having come from the military as well as law enforcement. I have been sitting for a month awaiting the completion of this. This is highky unacceptable & I require a resolution as well as a response expeditiously. I am sitting at home having bills to oay while waiting to start work. Please have this matter resolved with a sense of urgency.

      On 7-24-24 I received a written job offer letter from a tech company with a $110,000.00 salary. As part of the pre-hire process, this company used a company name Checkr to do a background check. This check revealed numerous criminal record that belonged to an individual with a completely different name. As a result of this report I was denied the job. When I attempted to get checkr to correct the records by providing them with copies of the court records they listed on their report which showed a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON'S NAME, checkr and their parent company *********** did NOTHING. I have gone back and forth with them for almost a year now and had ZERO resolution. Like all the other people who complained about checkr here, I received the same boilerplate "we are working on..." we have completed...." and "please watch your email for more info..." The reality is that checkr NEVER corrects their mistakes and NEVER provides you with any proof of anything they did. Additionally, forcing users to contact them forces you to agree to their slippery terms and conditions which attempt to strip you of your rights to challenge them in court.This is THE WORST company I have ever dealt with in my life!! Its STUNNING that the BBB gives them anything but an F- rating since they apparently have never resolved any of the hundred of complaints like mine. I have been ready to sue them for months, but they won't even provide me with their registered agent contact information as required by California law. I'm sure its coming to my email, just like all their other broken promises to fix my and other people's messed up records that have cost us all hundreds of thousands of dollars in jobs we were otherwise entitled to.

      As I stated in my initial complaint, Checkr has NEVER emailed me back about this problem other than to tell me to log into a portal that I can't log into anymore, nor should I even have to. They are LYING to you and me, and the evidence is if you look over MULTIPLE other BBB complaints on your site, nearly every unresolved complaint says the same thing: "Checkr claims they would email me, and to watch for an email, but I have never received ANY corrispondance from them and still have no way to contact them"

      This response is the same lie that they COPY AND PASTE INTO EVERY BBB COMPLAINT RESPONSE I've seen. This is NOT a resolution. I do NOT agree to si

      So AGAIN, let me emphasize with crystal clarity; CHECKR DID NOT AND WILL NOT CONTACT ME to resolve this complaint as required by law. I have already attempted to email and fax and contact them via postal mail for almost a YEAR NOW. 

      I need an actual email or phone number for a real person at Checkr to be able to resolve this. These people have destroyed my life for almost a year. I am imploring you to NOT ignore this like all of the other complaints about this horrible company.

      Unsure what clarification you are seeking, however:

      Checkr, despite claiming they have "investigated" my complaint, have not done so, nor provided proof of such investigation as requested and required by law. Checkr simply claims that "our records are correct" and therefor won't change anything.

      -I have provided Checkr with a copy of an OFFICIAL WASHINGTON STATE PATROL background check that CLEARLY states there is NO RECORDS or CONVICTIONS under my name, and I have received no response from Checkr as to why they still list multiple convictions. 

      -Checkr claims they have verified the official records, however when I contacted the clerks of the court, they told me that nobody other than myself has requested copies of the records for the other person whose convictions appear on my record, so checkr is lying again. I have provided copies of these official court records which clearly show the records listed under my name actually belong to a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON with A DIFFERENT NAME.

      -Checkr doesn't answer any of these questions or concerns, still refuses to provide an actual email address, mailing address or phone number for a real person in their legal or dispute department. When you consider that I was denied a high paying job last year because of these incorrect records that no other company seems to have a problem with, its pretty terrible to see that Checkr has a positive rating with the BBB, When you do a ****** search for them, you see how many times they have been sued for ruining people's lives just lik ethey did to me... This is unaccaptable. These people belong in jail.

      I am filing a complaint against Checkr, Inc. due to multiple inaccurate, outdated, and duplicate entries on background reports they provided to DoorDash, Lyft, Postmates, Handy, and *****. These reports led to job denials and lost income.Several records are more than 7 years old, including:Case 10-CR-00196 (**, 2010)Case 10-CR-00470 (**, 2010)Case ********* (MD, 2010)Case ********* (MD, 2013)These violate FCRA 605(a)(5), as the roles I applied for dont meet the salary threshold for old convictions to be reported.Some charges appear multiple times across reports (e.g., gun and narcotics charges), inflating the number of convictions. Others are labeled pending or sentence info not available even though they were resolved years ago or resulted in PBJ (Probation Before Judgment), which should not be treated as criminal convictions under Maryland law.Traffic and license suspensions that were cleared as far back as ******** are still reported as active. Example: Suspension dated 11/12/2019 resolved 1/22/2020.Reports also show conflicting personal info:Emails: ************************* ******************************* ************************ Multiple phone numbers and locations This raises serious concern about identity mix-*** or file merging, a potential FCRA 605B violation.Checkr failed to ensure accuracy and failed to verify disputed data properly.       We are a client of Checkr. Checkr increased our pricing, removed and modified our background check packages without providing us any notice, let alone the 30 day notice that is outlined in our terms of service. Our clients rely on us to be able to run their background checks on their behalf and we were not able to notify them that they would be losing some of their required checks while having a signifcantly increased cost to others. The only communication they sent us prior to this occuring was an email letting us know that our packages would be "upgraded". While an interesting way of spinning this material change to our service, this was neither informative, transparent nor accurate. Their customer service is nearly non existant and after days of trying to get a resolution through their AI chat function ( they removed their customer support phone line and email addresses last year) I was escalated to an Operations Specialist. After days of back and forth their was no solution offered other than they referred me to their sales team who would decide if they would like to offer us a discount but could not offer any timeline of if or when they would actually be in contact with me. My simple request is for them to honor their terms of service and revert our packages to what we previously agreed to and serve their required 30 days notice so that we can properly inform our clients that they will be losing their packages and also have a cost increase.

      I have been a dasher for Doordash for the past 1 year with no problems as far as being told that my criminal background was or would affect my employment whatsoever. Approx a week ago I went on my dasher app to do some Doordashing and I had been locked out of the dasher part of my app. So I look further into it and after looking at some past emails I discovered that ******** has temp frozen my dasher account due to a background check from a company named Checkr. I quickly disputed this decision with Doordash and Checkr. A domestic ***************** charge out of ************, ******** from 13 years ago is the reason I am temporarily unemployed from my job because of Checkr. ******** has allowed me to work for them for 1 yr, making over ***** deliveries for them with no problems and after a year Checkr drags up a ****************************************************************************************************** This isnt right

      I had run a background check on a potential employee. After it resulted and a few weeks went buy, support messaged me to tell me there was a variance from protocol and that the report was not done properly. I was offered a refund or a free report to be redone again. I selected it to be redone. After this occurred, I was charged for a full background check again on the same person when I was promised it was free. When I reached out to support, they seemed confused as to what I was talking about. Eventually they admitted they were supposed to give it to me for free and a mistake was made. I have followed up multiple times over several weeks since then and they keep saying my refund is being "addressed," but yet my money doesn't seem to be coming back to me. So essentially I was charged for a service I was told would be free due to a mistake on their end, they charged me anyway, and I can't recover my funds.

      Your staff did not reach out after you said this and I have spoken to support several times over weeks. They just keep saying it is "in progress." Another "reach out" from them does nothing. Give me my money back. You literally lied to me and auto charged my card. Why should I have to wait for weeks on end to get it back? I am going to report your company for fraud and start a credit card dispute if you do not confirm you have released my funds within 7 days.

      I am a driver for both **** and Lyft, and Checkr handles background checks for both companies. Last month, both **** and Lyft conducted their annual background checks on me. After I submitted my SSN, Lyfts background check was completed and the report came back as Clear.However, Checkr informed me that the background check for **** could not be completed and advised me to contact ****. I immediately contacted ****, and they replied that my background check did not pass and told me to contact Checkr ********** a result, the two companies keep shifting responsibility back and forth. I have contacted both companies multiple times, but each time I get the same response. This situation has had a serious impact on my life and my ability to work.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I am filing this complaint regarding the conduct of Checkr, Inc., in its role as a background check provider for ******************
      Checkr notified me that it could not complete my background check "due to ****s internal policies", but failed to provide:
      A full or partial copy of the report they had begun compiling;
      Any specific reason for the cancellation or what "****s internal policy" refers to;
      A clear process for disputing or correcting information;
      Confirmation of whether **** directly requested that Checkr cancel or halt the background check.
      This is highly problematic because Checkr is a ************************* governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Under this law, I am entitled to a copy of any background report used to make an adverse decision, as well as the opportunity to dispute or correct it. Instead, Checkr has refused to provide transparency, and is shifting the responsibility onto **** without offering any actionable resolution.
      This situation has directly harmed my ability to access work through ****s platform. I find Checkrs response evasive and unprofessional, and I believe it constitutes a failure to fulfill basic consumer reporting obligations.
      I respectfully request that BBB review this complaint and encourage Checkr to:
      Provide a full explanation of the reason the background check was canceled;
      Clarify whether this decision originated from ****;
      Deliver a copy of the report and offer a path for dispute or correction.
      I am also pursuing this matter through the ************************************ and will consider legal remedies depending on the outcome.

      This company is getting away with being ****, callous, and providing the customer with the least amount of information they can. I have been waiting over 3 weeks for a background check that would allow me to make money driving for ***** Not only has this company changed my completion date on 2 different occassions, including today and the report still isn't done, but they won't even give me or any other customer the reason for the delay. They just provide each customer with the same vague boilerplate language and refuse to provide specifics. Is it too much to ask a company that gives you 3 different end dates and over 3 week wait for a background check for specific information. This is what I complaining that this company should do along with any other company.

      We have verified that your background check is proceeding normally. Due to court delays and closures throughout the country, we are still experiencing some delays in receiving records, and unfortunately, we will not have an update on your report until these records are provided to us directly by the courts. Please note, there continue to be delays as clerks and representatives make their way through extensive backlogs and other requests. 
      Please also note that based on the request of the company you have applied to work with, we may search counties where you currently live or that may be associated with your address history, and those counties may or may not keep electronic records. As a ************************** there are procedures we are required to follow in order to collect information and complete background checks. As a result, we are unable to expedite our search or take additional steps to speed up the process. 
      We assure you that we are doing everything we can to obtain the necessary records and complete your background check.       1. They even responded to the BBB with the same vague boilerplate responses they send to all customers. Nothing SPECIFIC about my case.

      2. I'm from ******* and only have misdemeanor criminal charges in **********, ****, and I can pull up those at any point for free online on a website. WHY is it taking a whole company over 3 weeks to do the same?? How is it possible my case is going normal when the response is taking over 3x the normal time with it being over 3 weeks now when it supposed to take 3-7 days??

      3. There's no accountability for this company. They're getting to treat customers any  kind of way they want and be as lazy as they want without any repercussions.

As a ************************** we are not able to guarantee a reports completion date as we do not have the ability to impact the record request process or timeline at any given county court. An update to the estimated completion date is not reflective of a hold being placed on a report.
      Once your reports are complete, they will be available to download from the Candidate Portal.
