On the week of April 12, 2025, I initiated three background checks through Checkr, Inc. as required to renew my employment with ***** Lyft, and ******* Spark. Historically, my background checks have taken 23 days to complete, and Checkr's own guidance states the process typically takes 37 business days. However, as of April 29, 2025 18 days later, none of my background checks have been completed.I have contacted Checkr four times, twice through their live chat feature and twice via email. Each time, I received the same generic, copy-pasted response stating that background checks may take 37 days, and sometimes longer, with no specific explanation or update regarding my case.I have not changed addresses, moved counties, or altered any of my identifying information. I have lived in the same city, county, and state my entire life. Additionally, I am aware of others in my same city and county who initiated background checks through Checkr after I did, yet theirs were completed within the same day.I am simply requesting transparency. I would like to understand why my background checks are significantly delayed and why I am being denied access to speak with a supervisor or corporate representative who might provide a more meaningful update. This prolonged delay is preventing me from earning income through multiple platforms, and Checkr's lack of personalized customer service has left me without answers.I respectfully request that Checkr investigate this matter, provide a clear status update, and resolve the delay as soon as possible. Additionally, others in the same area who initiated checks after me have already had theirs completed some within a single day.All Im asking for is a clear explanation or escalation to someone who can provide context on the delay. Instead, Checkr has been unresponsive and evasive, refusing to allow access to any supervisor or higher-level support. On April 12, 2025, I initiated three background checks through Checkr, Inc. to continue working with ***** Lyft, and ******* Spark. Today is May 10th and only one of those background checks have been completed.Checkrs standard timeframe is 37 business days. In previous years, my reports have consistently come back in 23 days. I have not moved, changed my name, or altered any of my identifying information. Ive lived in ***************, **** my entire life. This is important because Mahoning County maintains electronic court records one of the very reasons prior background checks for me have been completed quickly and without issue.Ive contacted Checkr four times twice by chat and twice by email asking for a meaningful update. Instead, *** received repeated generic responses blaming possible county delays, court closures, or checks being run in counties from address history. But heres the issue: Ive never lived outside ***************, let alone outside ****. If Checkr is searching other counties, that is an error that needs addressed.Ive asked clearly and repeatedly: where exactly is the holdup? What court or county is allegedly delaying this process? If Checkr is conducting the search, they should have this information. Instead, theyve refused to give specifics, refused to escalate my request to a supervisor, and continued providing copy-and-paste responses that fail to address my situation directly.This delay is actively preventing me from earning income across multiple platforms. Im not asking for them to break procedure I'm asking for accountability, transparency, and an explanation that actually aligns with the facts of my background.I request that Checkr provide a detailed and specific update on the exact status of my background checks, including what jurisdiction is allegedly causing the delay, and to stop hiding behind vague, scripted replies that do not apply to my case.

A surprising number of courts in the ** still do not allow or limit public access to electronic records. Some even require specially trained researchers to go to the ***************** and physically obtain these records. These restrictions cause the background check process to take more time to complete, sometimes resulting in long delays. Checkr, as well as other background check providers, are being affected by these changes.
Please note: County clerks will prioritize individual/personal requests over background check companies, which leads to longer delays for our researchers. Its likely that the clerks will not be familiar with Checkr as we work with professional researchers or record providers to retrieve your information. For compliance reasons, we are unable to accept search results/records directly from you, the candidate.

Ive applied for **** and am waiting for this company to complete the background check. I have a clean driving and criminal record, so there is no justification for not completing this process in 2-3 days. I applied for a job on April 7th, and was told that CHECKR would be doing the background check. They said 3-7 days. Today is the 22nd, and I just got an email stating its going to take longer. I have no police involvement, not even speeding tickets, no reason it should be taking this long.I tried to ask CHECKR directly, but its with a robot. I submitted a background check dispute to Checkr on April 12, 2025, regarding a misdemeanor charge that was dismissed after deferred adjudication. I provided court documentation proving there is no conviction, no finding of guilt, and that the case was terminated and dismissed on July 12, 2024.Despite following all dispute procedures, I have not received any update or resolution. This company operated as a third party, hired by ******** to conduct a background check on me. Instead of doing their due diligence and ensuring that the public records check was actually accurate, they reported someone elses information that had a similar name which caused me to get an adverse action email from my employer (DoorDash). They reported I was a *** offender and was convicted of taking indecent liberties with several minors. The person they confused me with had the suffix ***** they looked completely different from me, was in a different part of the world from me, and had a different address. They reported the first thing they seen. This accusation is embarrassing and false. I disputed it with the company. On April 1, 2025, this company started the background check process on me, and I was informed that the process would end on approximately April 10, 2025; however, I received an email notification that the background process was updated to end between April 17, 2025 and April 22, 2025. I have no criminal record, and the information I submitted to the company is accurate; therefore, it should not take three weeks for this company to perform a background check. I recently applied to become a driver with Lyft and cannot drive until my background check is completed. I am rejecting this response because I myself am able to do a background check on myself and can receive results within three to five days max. From what I read, Checkr, Inc. checks national databases which would cause unnecessary delays to applicants' reports when I have live in the state of ************ for almost five years.

I drive for **** and once a year they require a background check for their drivers. Unfortunately they use Checkr. My background check was suppose to be finished by Monday 4/7. It is now Thursday 4/10 and it is still not finished. The problem with this company is that they automated everything which means if there is a problem there are no or not enough humans to find out what has happened. When I go on the candidate portal. It has shown no movement on my report for over a week. I know they will say they are waiting on something. They say they are going to email you more information but they never do. If you contact them through their app to inquire about your report you get a bot email in return. In short this company has no way to actually speak to someone. I have been down for 10 days with **** because Checkr cannot do their job. I average about $80 a day so their incompetence has cost me about $800. I need Checkr to do their job! I need to speak to a actual person about what is missing in this report so I can try to track it down myself. The we are waiting for something excuse isn't good enough. What are you waiting for and what are you doing to get it! Please see if you can actually speak to someone on my behalf. Also if they would like to compensate me for all the time I missed due to their incompetence that would be great. At least try to find someone who can give us some answers.
