I am filing a formal complaint against Byte for unethical business practices, failure to deliver the promised product, and refusal to issue a refund despite their inability to fulfill their contractual obligations.On August 16, 2024, I paid $2,199 for a full teeth-aligning treatment, which was promised to include 20 aligners for my top teeth and 16 for my bottom teeth. However, I only received 15 aligners, leaving my treatment incomplete. Since then, Byte has halted production of future aligners due to an ongoing *** investigation into regulatory violations and patient safety concerns. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue, the company has refused to refund my payment, even though I never received the full product I paid for.Over the past two months, I have engaged in 20+ email exchanges with Bytes customer service, only to be given excuses, delays, and empty promises. Their lack of transparency and refusal to provide a refund is unacceptable, especially given their voluntary suspension of sales and marketinga clear indication that they are no longer capable of fulfilling their obligations to customers like **** am requesting that the ******************** intervene to help secure a full refund of $2,199, as Byte has failed to deliver the product as promised and has demonstrated poor business practices. I am rejecting this response because: like they do through their main support channels, they completely ignored every request, statement, and question stated. My multitude of screenshots in my initial complaint prove they have immeasurably poor customer service. I have tried resolving this issue and receiving a refund for my lack of product for 3 months now. Byte does nothing but run you in circles, while they have $2,199 of my hard earned money and I do not have the product i paid for in full to show it. I am demanding a full refund.

Instead, your atrocious customer service has responded to my complaint through the BBB TWICE before even responding to my initial ticket. I have MULTIPLE customer support threads open with you all that you can respond to. This is the only way I am able to get a valid and proper response from your joke of a customer service team. I am so beyond sick and tired of your predatory and vile business tactics. You should truly be ashamed of yourself. Refund me. I will not be contacting you elsewhere. I financed orthodontic treatment through Byte using a loan with ******************. Although I completed the aligner treatment, the services were not properly delivered, and the results were unsatisfactory. After the treatment, I consulted a licensed dentist who advised that corrective dental work is now required due to the incomplete and ineffective service provided by Byte.I made multiple attempts to contact Byte regarding these issues. However, Byte has been completely unresponsive and unreachable, leaving me with no ability to resolve the matter directly. I have since been advised to send a cease and desist letter to Byte and have filed disputes regarding the associated loan.I am requesting cancellation of my loan, removal of any associated missed payments from my credit report, and a refund of payments made toward this incomplete service. I reject Bytes response. I submitted my complaint through the Better Business Bureau to have my concerns formally addressed and resolved, not redirected.
Byte's support team was already contacted directly, and despite multiple communications and submission of the required dental documentation, my issue remains unresolved.
Redirecting me back to their website instead of addressing the core concern through the BBB is an unacceptable attempt to avoid formal accountability.
I have re-sent the requested dental documentation and demanded proper escalation. However, I have not yet received confirmation of action being taken to cancel my retail installment contract with ***************************** as required.
I am requesting that Byte formally process the cancellation of my contract, close my account with Westlake, and provide written confirmation through this BBB case.Business Response

I sought care from Byte to correct my crooked teeth. I paid upfront and extra to only wear the aligners at night and it was supposed to be 6 months. That was July 2021. It is now over 3.5 years later and my teeth are not straight. I have been asked to wear them during the day and have complied, even though I paid more to only wear at night. I have also been through 6 different rounds of aligners due to constant refinement and completing full sets of aligners without getting the desired results. I was happy with my upper teeth and ordered a retainer for that while still undergoing treatment for the lower teeth. After several months, I was sent messages to maintain there guarantee by ordering new retainers every so often so I ordered a replacement UPPER retainer as the one I was using was cracking and breaking. The company sent my both UPPER and LOWER retainers without me ordering the lower and now they have ruled my ineligible to continue treatment. I did not order the lower retainer but they are the ones that sent it and now they are leaving me with crooked teeth and refuse to give me a refund. I have tried to address this multiple times through both email and phone calls without any results.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I reached back out to Byte through the customer service. I spoke to a lady named **** that listened to my complaint and then put me on hold and never came back. I called back and spoke to another gentlemen. He tried to get me to go to my dentist and get a letter saying this was a health issue. It is not a health issue and my dentist was not involved in the beginning of this issue so he doesnt need to be involved with end. He forwarded my complaint for review but I have already been through this process. All I got was an email 3-5 days later saying I wasnt approved for a refund. So they are just making me repeat these steps over and over.

I became a consumer of Byte in 2022, what was promised to be a few months of treatment, turned into nearly 3 years and never completed. Agents delayed my process, I need more aligners, another kit, another review (after so had already completed the review twice). They had me in my first set of last aligners which were broken for several months even after complaining because they took so long. I finally received the additional aligners and they stop production 2 months later. Treatment was never completed, Ive been in my last set of trays for going on 5 months now and my teeth still arent straight. I have to seek orthodontic services from a legitimate orthodontist now and pay again. I have asked Byte for a refund and they refused to assist me until I signed their consent form. I will not be signing any form as this company has already caused me so much stress, money, time and inconvenience but they have the audacity to still make demands. I also asked for an address or contact information for their legal department, they refused to even acknowledge or provide that information. I will not be spending more money to satisfy Bytes needs for a dental note when they have already cost me so much money, not to mention the emotional toll this has taken on me. I will be reporting my dentist ****** **** to the Board of Dentistry because this is absolutely unacceptable. Nobody wants to take accountability for their wrong doings, they are still trying to protect what is left of the business instead of having a shred of decency and refunding peoples money especially since we have to pay out of pocket else where. They continue to make it difficult for everyone which make sense as to why there is a class action lawsuit in the works. All I know is that, I reached out to resolve this without having to further escalate this matter and they could care less, now, I will continue my fight for what is right until they provide a refund. In January 2024, I began aligner treatment with BYTE and paid $1,945 in full. I was told my treatment would be complete by May 2024. BYTE sent the first half of my aligners but never delivered the rest. In July 2024, I completed a second impressions kit, and they promised delivery in 46 weeks. It is now April 2025, and I have received nothing since.I have sent dozens of emails between July 2024 and April 2025, often waiting weeks for responseswhen I got one at all. BYTE repeatedly asked me to complete new steps or send documents I wasnt required to provide at the start. Phone calls werent an optionthey said they were too busy. I begged for answers and was ignored.Ive since learned BYTE paused all sales and customer service in October 2024. They never informed me. Ive been left in the dark, with no product, no help, and no resolution.Worse, the aligners I did receive caused two chipped teeth. My dentist confirmed this was due to how they moved my teethnot from decay. Ive also had to make repeated dental visits to retrieve documentation BYTE kept asking ****** this point, I have no aligners, no working treatment plan, and no resolution. My teeth have regressed, Ive been emotionally exhausted, and Ive suffered physical harm. I ordered the byte aligners and retainer and paid my costs upfront through care credit who the byte company used to finance my treatment. It seems they are both were partners together to rip people off. I was half way through my treatment and byte stopped sending me my aligners and retainer. I havent received anything since November 2024. I have been forced to stop treatment and Im still having to pay care credit monthly for a product I dont have. It is a breach of contract to offer a product and then stop sending said product. Since the *** is involved now that proves the product is unsafe. I have contacted byte with no response and have contacted care credit and they wont help me either. They are both in breach and I would like a refund. I am currently on a payment plan for Bytes Byte at Home treatment, which was advertised and sold as a remote orthodontic service using at-home impression kits. Partway through my treatment, Byte unilaterally changed their service model and stopped offering the at-home option I signed up for. They are now requiring a 3D scan from a local dentistsomething that was never part of the original agreement. Im out money, still making payments, and my teeth remain crooked.I have been unable to find a dentist who offers the specific scan Byte is now requiring. As a result, I requested a refund since Byte is no longer providing the product or service I originally paid for. They refused, stating I must provide a formal letter from a dentist confirming the scan is not available. I should not be financially responsible for additional dentist visits or follow-up care that are now required due to Bytes failure to provide effective treatment. Their product did not deliver the promised results, and I am still left with crooked teeth while continuing to make payments for a treatment that has ********* is unacceptable for Byte to discontinue the service I purchased, then impose arbitrary and shifting requirements to avoid issuing a refund. This business is acting fraudulently. They indicated during our first call in June of 2022 that real orthodontists work for them, review my impressions, create my aligners, and will work with me through the process. This is FALSE. The Aligners never fit right. During the months I was making payments, they were better at responding to my emails and sending additional aligners, none of which fit right. I asked to speak to an orthodontist and they told me one was not available. This went on for months. I had to significantly heart my aligners to get them over my teeth. They kept asking me to do these digital checkins where I had to take photos of my teeth, they'd followup with an email asking me the same questions, with no response until the following month when it was time for another digital checkin. After I made my final payment response completely stopped. ehen they finally responded they said I had not been in touch for over 5 months ( not true) and that it would cost an additional $800 to reenter treatment. I threatened to sue and they offered to continue treatment but only if I went to see an orthodontist in person to verify I did not have any dental problems. It's continually a run around. They are dishonest and should not be messing with poeple's teeth. I asked for a refund and after a month they said yes, but only if I return all of my unused aligners, knowing I DO NOT have any unused aligners.. I have been asking for new impression kits so I can continue treatment because my teeth are still not straight after almost three years. I've been on the final aligners for over 6 months and they know this. I also plan to report them to the *** and the **** I want a refund of $1500.Business Response

The aligners from Byte did not work for me at all. I ended up getting braces and requested a refund on the aligners. I was told to get a letter from my orthodontist. So I got a letter from him and emailed it to Byte. They then emailed back saying my refund was approved (I attached the email stating I would receive it in 6-8 weeks). I was later told I would have my refund by April 22nd. I have not received my refund. I get no responses on my emails to them anymore. I dont know what to do. They owe me my money.Business Response
