I use Freshbooks and opened an account with ********************. My business is Log Cabin Restoration in **. My business made an Invoice to a new customer for Restoration on their log home for a deposit to start their work. My customer tried to make a payment through ******************** **** and they rejected his payment. Stripe required more information from my business which I gave and my customer attempted to pay it. ******************** **** Received the money from my customer but said that my business was high risk and couldnt work with my business. It has been over a month and Stripe is saying according to a rule in the agreement Stripe is not going to issue my business the funds. My business has not even done the work for my customer. So ******************** is keeping over $3,000 of my customers money and my customer does not even have an account with ******************** **** If Stripe **** is allowed to keep money that does not belong to Stripe ****, then how can we even trust using any online payment platform?

LISTEN TO THE 1 STARS!!!!I have used Stripe for over a year for simple invoices to charge my customers. Out of nowhere I get harassing emails stating I must verify a ton of unrelated stuff relating to my business, what I sell, etc.Note I processed under $5,000 for the year of 2023 on Stripe and on similar pace for 2024 (less than $500 processed YTD)Their support staff is absolutely clueless having me reiterate my prior chats multiple times over just so they "understood" what I was selling. After clarifying again and again I just got a new email stating my account will be closed and payouts will be held in the future due to selling items that are against "policy". How can something the support rep didn't even understand be against policy? Last I checked plenty of people do consulting & market research through Stripe, better yet by INVOICING CUSTOMERS. Not a single complaint from a customer, not a single red flag, under $5,000 in annual revenue, I must be selling something real illegal Stripe.Avoid at all costs.

They are a scam!! they hold your funds and won't release them for 4 months!!!!! and won't refund my customers their monies. I opened a new business; this was my first time using them and now I have over $34K in funds they won't release for 4 months!! How are small businesses supposed to survive if their funds are held that long and refunds are not returned to my customers??? You can't speak to anyone on the phone and they tell you to email them to correspond, but ALLL the responses are automated!! Then they tell you they hold your money because your business is high risk...if that's the case then give my customers their money back.. why hold the money if its high risk???RUN, RUN, RUN, do not use this company.

Stay away from Stripe! This company has a highly abusive and discriminatory policy. First, they marked our first (and only) card payment transaction as "unauthorized by customer". This was a test transaction (to test the tap-to-pay procedures), for $1, and using my own card (as a business owner). So, their flag was totally groundless and abusive. When I asked about the reasons why this transaction has been considered a fraud, they said "we're not able to provide details as to which charges are considered unauthorized, and have no leeway regarding this restriction". It was hilarious, since there was only ONE transaction ever processed on that Stripe account, and it was totally legit.Next, they informed us that our Stripe account will be closed, because "weve determined that your business presents a level of risk that we are unable to support". That decision continued even after uploading all company's documents and legal forms they had required from us (most of these documents had been there for a long time, though). Again, I requested a copy of their Terms and Conditions of service, where our type of business is included on the list of the "high-risk" activities, as well as a short description of the criteria used to determine the "high-riskiness" of a business. Ours is an ************************* and Accounting firm (you tell me what kind of "high-risk" activity we have). Their response: "Unfortunately, were not able to reveal more specific information on how we do our reviews here at Stripe." So, there are no standard rules and procedures, no objective criteria. There are just arbitrary, discriminatory attitudes, depending on how well the person reviewing your case had slept the night before or whether they like your face or name, or not.As a final note, after reading a lot of complaints about Stripe's abusive behavior, I am glad we are not going forward with them. There are many other and much more transparent payment processing companies on the market.

One of our vendors uses stripe to collect payments, but the reports we need for our bookkeeping are obscure and hidden behind paywalls that aren't disclosed. This is a predatory company.

They send you an email to pause your payments because they want to tell you what you need to put on your website. First of all they are a vendor and collect and disperse payments. They do not own or run my business or have any rights to tell me what to put on my website. Multiple emails back and forth and zero resolve from them other than we are escalating it with our team. Worst payment system ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered Christmas ornaments in November 2023 from a company called Risetor, a few days later their website had been removed and the merchandise never arrived. I got scammed. The bottom of the receipt they emailed me said they partner with STRIPE, out of *************, to provide invoicing and payment processing. I was on the phone with STRIPE one time, it was not pleasant. The agent asked me for all the details, often putting me on hold, sometimes for long periods. STRIPE did not tell me if they work with RISETOR or not. I was told that they would look into this and get back to me, they have not. Can you say, "Partners in Crime?"
