On June 7, 2023, I received emergency care at ***************************** and was treated by Dr. ********* ******, MD. I understand that two separate ****s are typically generated in this setting, one for the hospital and one for the physician. Upon speaking with them, I discovered that the **** was submitted to the wrong secondary insurance ********* ******* instead of my actual secondary insurance at the time, which was ****************** My primary insurance was *****************, and my secondary insurance was ***************** on the date of service.Because of this ****ing error, the claim was never correctly processed, and by the time I was made aware of the issue, the timely filing limit had passed, making it impossible to **** ***************** for the remaining balance. This was not due to any negligence or delay on my part, but rather a provider or ****ing agency error that resulted in the insurance being ****ed incorrectly.I have requested verification and a resolution multiple times, but no effort has been made to correct the error or acknowledge that I am not responsible for the unpaid balance. I am requesting that Wakefield & Associates immediately remove the debt from my record, cease all collection activities related to this account, and request deletion of this account from all credit bureaus to which it has been reported. This debt was the result of a ****ing error by the provider and/or ****ing party, and it was not submitted to the correct insurance within the allowable timeframe. I should not be held responsible for this balance due to no fault of my own.Customer Answer

Ms. ******* has not provided Wakefield with her insurance information, for us to review with our client.Customer Answer

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
I have called Wakefield & Associates multiple times and clearly stated that the insurance billed was incorrect. I also sent several emails to ******************* and when I followed up to confirm receipt, I was told that they had not received anything. However, as part of this BBB complaint, I submitted documentation including my IRS 1095-A form and verification from the ******** **Health portal, both of which confirm I was covered by ***************** for the entire year of 2023.
On March 31, 2025, a representative from Wakefield & Associates called me. I explained the situation and the documents I had submitted. The representative claimed they had not received any information from me or the BBB. Then, contradictorily, he stated that what I had sent was not sufficient, and that I would need to provide a letter of eligibility from *****************. I contacted ******** that same day, and was told that the letter would take 710 business days to process.
Additionally, in Wakefields written response, they refer to a Ms. ******** and a creditor named *********************************. I have no association with that name or entity, and I do not understand why it appears in my case. This raises serious concerns about potential errors in how my account has been handled.
I am again requesting the removal of this debt, as it stems from the providers failure to bill the correct insurance within the allowable timeframe, a matter outside of my control. I have done my part in providing accurate insurance documentation and making multiple attempts to resolve this properly.
Sincerely,
******* *******Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:While I appreciate that Wakefield & Associates has stated the account has been closed and returned to the client, their response is vague and incomplete. I need a clear, written confirmation that:
1. The account is officially closed and no longer in collections.2. Wakefield & Associates has notified all credit reporting agencies (Experian, *******, and **********) to remove this account from my credit report.
3. No further negative reporting or activity will be made on this account moving forward.

I am filing a formal complaint against Wakefield and Associates, LLC regarding an incorrect and unjustified debt collection notice I received from them.On March 5, 2025, I was sent a letter stating that I owe $2,118.18 to ************************** (Reference Number: 01-250926213). However, this debt is completely invalid for the following reasons:- I had full insurance coverage at the time of service, and my insurance provider confirmed that all charges were covered and paid.- I should not be receiving a collection notice for a balance that my insurance was responsible for.- I have formally disputed this debt with Wakefield and Associates, requesting validation and an itemized statement, but have not received a satisfactory resolution.- This collection notice is causing unnecessary distress and may negatively impact my credit report if not corrected immediately.Resolution Sought - I request that Wakefield and Associates:- Cease all collection efforts immediately.- Withdraw this debt from collections, as it is invalid.- Communicate directly with my insurance provider to resolve any issues (GMMI and EuropAssistance)- Provide a formal confirmation in writing that this collection has been removed.I appreciate your prompt attention to this issue and expect a resolution as soon as possible.Customer Answer

I spent the last part of last year trying to fix this stain on my credit report. Having talked to both the hospital and the collection agency, this is still on my credit report despite the fact that I talked to both multiple times that I paid this balance off directly to the hospital Feb 12th, 2024. My credit score went from a ******* score down more that a hundred points across all the credit agencies. The sad part is that I paid for my surgery in full 100% before the operation, yet the surgery center never paid the anesthesia company. After the ************** refunded me my money, I then paid them directly on 2/12/24. The last conversation I had with ***** at Capital Anesthesia is that she would notify Wakefield, and to have them fix my credit report once and for all. Still waiting..,.Customer Answer

I reached out to consultant anesthesiologist this morning because Wakefield is a predatory company. The point of contact at Consultant is Chelsea ***************** She informed me this was reversed on Wakefield in September of 2024 because full payment was made. She said she had no idea what Wakefield is doing and they were provided all information last year regarding this and under no circumstances should they have continued pursuit or filed anything they against my credit. She agreed completely with my anger and filing complaints and disputes against them. They're a common thief at this point. The fact wakefield is saying they have to check with their client is comical. I confirmed it in minutes once I got Consultant's contact. They were told 6 month ago in documented correspondence from Consultant that this debt is satisfied and yet they still tried to file a claim and bully me into double paying for something. They need to be held accountable for these actions. Consultant is going to send me the correspondence they sent Wakefied back in September saying this debt is paid in full and I will use that in small claims court to sue Wakefield for the ****************************** allows. They are predatory at a minimum. This will be off my credit report soon enough with or without BBB. I look forward to wakefield spending their money on a retainer for a lawyer. Small claims isn't much here, 5k max. The principal will be worth 100 times more than that to me. Absolute scum of a company.

I am rejecting this response because:The only part of this statement that is factual is that the account was paid in full directly for ******. I don't understand why wakefield continues to lie. I spoke directly with Consultants anesthesiology who received that payment in September of 2024 and sent out correspondence on October 1 via email to wakefield telling them to stand down as the bill was paid. I have the direct contact and name of the person who will confirm this. She also sent me something confirming it as well. I reported Wakefield to the ** in the state of **** and am working with a consumer specialist on the complaint as I type. They are bottom shelf company and everything is documented showing their predatory practices. Why lie and say it was paid on 3/10/25? I'm going to purse every avenue of recourse for the harassment from this shoddy operation of a company. I attached ** complaint email. Maybe you can do better on your lies to them, Wakefield. Don't forget the receipt that also documents that date of payment. Next I'll be filing in small claims court here. Here's a word of advice, pay whoever responds via BBB in representing you, more than your low level call center predators. In reading the responses and seeing the lack of research or diligence its easy to tell they of the same elk. A group of mental midget.

I am rejecting this response because: the itemization is Essentially a piece of paper saying "give me money". There isn't a breakdown of the services provided and Products used to complete said services, To help me make sense of And prove the **** is my responsibility, and why the aledged **** is such a large sum. Three thousand dollars is alot of money, and if people just start handing it out to anyone alot of people will be taken advantage of. So a better breakdown of the debt would be really nice. Removal from my credit report would be nice as well. Thanks for youre time??.
Sincerely,

Good afternoon this is in reference to a medical bill that was accidentally charged by the facility. *** reached out to the provider who charged it and it was supposed to be dissolved. Since then it has affected my credit report and have disputed this many times and they have not removed it. It is under $500 and should not be on a credit report Because its a medical bill. Ive gone through Experian 10 times to dispute this in the 2 years However, Wakefield and Associates continues to call and will not remove this from my credit report.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because this bill originated from a doctors office that was mistakingly billed to us. It was miss coated. We contacted the office several times throughout that year to get it corrected. However, one year passed, and it was too long for us to appeal the bill. It was then sent to Wakefield and Associates for collection. This is currently a medical bill that is only $480 and should not be on a credit report under the $500 threshold we contacted ******** credit reports and we dispute this charge many times we were told by experian because it was a medical debt that it should not be listed on the credit report. We have also discussed with Wakefield and associates our issue. They were not helpful and did not want to hear it. We also contacted the doctors office a few times and there was nothing that they could do because its past the one year threshold. This is on my credit report and has ruined my credit. All I ask, is it for it to be removed because it is not my debt my next step will be to the Attorney General. Thank you for your consideration. I appreciate your help. Sincerely.
Sincerely,

Unfortunately, since the bill is passed one year, we are unable to attempt to resolve this with the insurance company. I am rejecting this response because: You are a collection agency you can resolve this with a click of a button by contacting the company that hired you to collect the debt. As mentioned before, we did contact the insurance company and because it was past one year they could do nothing about it and directed us to your collection agency. This is a medical debt that should not be on a credit report. The collection agency can offer lower amounts to resolve the debt, then why can not remove it. We have received multiple phone calls and explained the situation and someone Always promises to return your phone call. Promises that are not done. This is my last Effort before I take it to another level To the Attorney General and I will get legal council. This is a medical debt that should not be on a credit report

On June 5, 2024, Wakefield & Associates began collection actions on a medical debt of $888 from Qualified Emergency Specialists. However, this bill was never submitted to my health insurance provider for proper payment. Additionally, I was misdiagnosed by the original creditor, which delayed treatment for a serious condition. Despite disputing the account, ******************** continues to report it on my credit profile, causing significant financial and emotional harm. The collection agency has not verified the debts validity or ensured that the original creditor followed appropriate billing procedures before sending the account to collections.I request the immediate removal of this collection account from my credit report and a full investigation into the improper handling of this debt. Wakefield & Associates should also cease all collection activities until the matter is resolved. The amount due was never submitted to my insurance provider, and no payment has been made by me for this debt."Customer Answer
