Here's a tip if you're buying and building a new home. Check the shower and make sure that the base is a one solid piece or at least 12" off the floor, instead of some flimsy panels surrounding the base floor held together with only silicone. I'm concerned about how this passed inspection but it did and 1.5 year later the silicone eventually split and water started leaking down the basement. Since this was my boys first home we had very minimal experience in what to look for but we expected Richmond to be the qualified expert entrusted to ensure that their new built home was in compliance and up to code. We have contacted the local office via email and was told it was no longer under the builders warranty but to reach out to another department. My thoughts are a warranty is meant to cover work that was installed to standard not to compensate for poor workmanship especially with silicone inside the shower that was bound to split sooner or later. Their house is fairly new but we are already looking in to doing some major repairs and start to question Richmond quality and integrity.

My $750k home is being held hostage. We signed all of our closing docs a week ago and were supposed to close that day. Now they can't pass inspection and get a Certificate of Occupancy. I'm out thousands in mover deposits, getting a rental, canceling airfare, etc.. every day I HAVE TO TEXT the agent for an update. The most scam artist builder I've ever worked with. RUN. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

We have continual flooding in our backyards and other peoples backyards, and was told by ***** at Richmond America and **************** and *********************** that landscaping would fix the problem, but yet other neighbors have landscaping done spent thousands of dollars and it still flooded their yard took a year and a half to get the concrete fixed just a joke of a company wouldnt recommend ever buying another house and I will be getting the news involved and maybe an attorney!

I worked for this employer for close to one year. It was the single worst experience I have encountered in my employment history. I was hired as a Sales Associate in Training. During the course of my employment I was isolated, undermined and experienced racial stereotyping. When I reported the racial stereotyping to my manager, I was told that I was methodical and called a snitch by my co-worker. I was given the advice to laugh it off and not be so sensitive by other co-workers of color within the business. In addition, I was told not to retaliate by my manager and that if I could not get along with my co-workers, she did not know what she would do with **** attempted to transfer to another division, but was told that I needed approval from my current manager. My manager instead transferred me to a location over an hour from my home. I was never referred to or contacted by the ************************** regarding my concerns. I learned later that the person who constantly and openly stereotyped black and brown people was a close friend of my manager.I eventually ended up at a location where my co-worker made the previous three sales people so uncomfortable that they resigned. Throughout my experience, I was advised regularly that I could not get along with anyone and punished (micro-managed or written up) when I vocalized my concerns.Eventually, I was let go (the first time in my career history). When I spoke with *************** via email upon exiting, I asked if they were aware of my concerns? I was told that they had been observing the situation since I began.

My husband and I bought a new build in **********. We paid cash and had a ten day closing. When we viewed the house, there were no appliances other than the stove. We were told if we wanted the house appliances would be delivered in 2 or 3 days. We closed on July 28th. Our appliances have not been delivered. Every time we contact (almost daily) the representative here were told just waiting for response from corporate to my email . Today I went to Lowes and ordered our appliances myself. I took the receipt to the representative locally and told him I would be back Monday for my reimbursement check. Stay clear of these dubious folks. Terrible experience.

My clients decided they wanted to put in an offer on a Richmond American new construction home here in *******, **. Prior to touring the home we had been in contact with their sales agent *************************, and she was kind enough to provide us with a look book of the finishes that would go into this particular home. They were also offering a $3,000 buyers agent bonus on this home. Their sales agent referenced this look book multiple times when going over the *** with us. My clients agreed to the terms and signed the paperwork to put this home under contract. After going under contract they went to visit the progress of the home to which they found completely different countertops installed. After discussion, their sales rep ******* admitted that she had put together a look book based on another community and said that she had made a mistake. We were offered 3 options: $1500 credit at closing, $3000 expense to the buyers to replace the countertops, or take the home as is. Richmond American accepted NO responsibility for their agents mistake. I opted, and its not lost on me what this company did, to give up my agent bonus to give my clients the countertops they deserve. From start to finish, this was and has been a horrible experience. My clients still cannot get anyone out to fix the small issues they promised to fix, and left them with dead sod in their front yard. 10/10 would not recommend this company for new construction.

Literally five days until closing and I was hit with an appraisal that valued the home at $16,000 less than the purchase price. The demanded that I pay out the difference. When I couldn't come up with that much money in such a short time, I was forced to cancel the contract. That same house is now listed at $20,000 over the appraisal value. They know exactly what it's worth according to their own appraisers, but they jacked up the price for the next person? Just shady and miserable.

Purchased in late summer 2020. Please heed the recent reviews and know nothing has changed since my experience with them. I will never buy another Richmond Home.

******************** is a great neighborhood, but Richmond American Homes are not a great homebuilder. From the start when they poured the wrong basement floor plan and they had to dig up the concrete to fix it, now the concrete slabs in our garage have been sinking at an alarming rate. They won't even send someone out here to inspect the failing concrete. We've been told by concrete lift companies that the entire garage should have the concrete removed and re-poured. This is an issue a 3 year old house should not be having especially when paying over half a million dollars for a home. They say it's not structural or a safety hazard so it's not covered by their warranty. The steps leading into the house from the garage are floating 4 inches off the ground because the concrete is failing. That seems like it could be a safety concern to me and to visitors at my home. I've heard of other neighbors having the same problems and even Pulte Homes owners, but Pulte Homes stepped up and actually took care of the concrete issues for their customers. The fact that Richmond never sent anyone to our home to just look at this enormous problem was a huge slap in the face. The closing of our home was also a horrendous experience. We were told it would be a couple weeks before our closing. All of a sudden on the last day of the month we were called by our Richmond sales associate while we were both at work and were told we had to close that day and could not reschedule. We both had to frantically leave our workplaces and race down to their closing office. We had to bend backwards for Richmond that day to help them meet their end of month revenue target, but they can't even come inspect our failing concrete that I've been trying to get them to resolve for several months now. I'm hoping this review will get Richmond Homes to come out to my house to take care of a major flaw and and do the right thing for one of their early customers in ********************.

If you are looking to purchase a home, stay clear of Richmond American. This has been the worse experience ever! First of all the prices of these homes are ridiculous for what they offer. The materials are cheap (even with expensive upgrades) and the home is poorly built. When I did my walk through, I was very disappointed and had I been smarter about it, I would've never closed until all issues were fixed. There were leaves in the gutter and nails on the roof when I moved in and when I asked them about it they told me it would be taken care of but the first guy who told me this retired and left me with a different home care specialist who was the absolute worse and didn't care at all about the issues I had previously pointed out.The carpet was installed poorly and it took an act of congress to get them to come back out and re-install only to be faced with spots that are still loose. They do not add shoes molding which I thought was pretty weird and when I moved in all the bathroom lights flickered so I had to change out all the bulbs. Just be very cautious if you are planning on purchasing a home from this company.
