      Every complaint listed here is true, all happened to me as well. So shocking how they handled my retirement monies. Constantly moving it around like a shell game, lost thousands in the blink of an eye. Could not get the funds out of their hands fast enough! The state I worked for used them to more or less give structure to our pensions so I thought it was a trusted company. Ugh!!! What a waste of time/money. Beware. ***As a note to the admin person posting responses, stop! Get a real honest job.

      Had an issue transferring money from a 401k to a personal rollover **** The **** tax form Empower provided had inaccurate information and claimed the transferred funds were taxable which they should NOT be. When the supervisor returned my call she was extremely aggressive, rude and unwilling to help. On three different occasions during the phone call I stated I feel I am being attacked and they were ****** aggressive, to which I was told they were not being aggressive o explained you may believe you arent but I am interpreting you to be. Every time I would ask her to please speak more cordial I was follow with a reply more nasty than the last I am not being aggressive.I was also informed they had recordings of my previous phone conversations from seven months ago, which gave the authorization to enter the information that they did on the form. I explained I was new to all this and I must have misspoke and used the incorrect term for the account in which the funds were being transferred too. Was told everything is non retractable. Even suggested I could have the personal rollover *** account send information to prove that this is the non taxable account in which the funds from Empower were sent. I then requested to get a copy of the audio recording which the supervisor told me she would not do. No help, rude, and aggressive. I now may have an issue with the *** after filing my taxes. Terrible customer service who are unwilling to help especially with a participant who was was new to transferring funds from one account to another. Ive done customer service for two years and would NEVER speak to someone the way in which I was dealt with. I know nothing will come of this but, that supervisor was a real jerk.

      I became an Empower customer through their acquisition of *********** Immediately it was noticeable that customer service got so much worse. Emails were often not responded to. And forget reaching an agent by phone. It would be a little less problematic, but some transactions couldn't be done online. Early on with them I tried to get another account rolled over just to have them at the same service. After over a month of phone calls and emails, I decided to roll it over elsewhere. And it was so simple. I would avoid Empower unless you are a fan of constant frustration and spending your day on hold, only to be disconnected before speaking to someone. Oh and even their two step authentication never seems to work when trying to log in.

      Wish I could give them no stars if you're a government public safety employee and you thought all these years your 457 and your pension rollovers wouldn't be penalized 10% after age 50 well think again. Empower has their own rules and tax code. Your ****r will reflect the 10% penalty Even if you have separated employment and are over the age of 50 Have argued with them until I'm tired of arguing. They are so arrogant and know nothing about the tax codes involving public safety employees.

      I asked for a 401k withdrawal on 2/15 and was assured by the empower CSR it would take no longer than **** business days. I paid $30 extra to have it sent expedited through **** I still DO NOT have my check as of 3/7/23. I spoke with 3 separate CSRs and one manager. I was flat out lied to regarding the status of this check and the manager was a passive aggressive jerk that would not listen to what I had to explain and then inferred on 3 separate topics that I was lying. There was no attempt to make this better. In addition, my check has now been misplaced by *** in **********, ** and they think the sender is TMobile. I desperately need this check to pay my mortgage and it is no where to be found with no proactive or updates at all from Empower or **** I am calling and emailing daily but to no avail. Empower should be ashamed of their customer service and ***, well thats entire other story.

      I have had to call their customer support a few times, and the reps are generally **** and they are disorganized. I cannot wait until I never have to call them again.

      when it was ********** we had a great personal rep and they sold out to empower and the rep for empower is not specific to personal needs and questions and go defensive when I asked about rolling my plan over to a different company.

      NO STAR / ZERO STAR RATING Empower is delaying return of monies that employees have worked hard for.Tell your Employer - DO NOT select Empower for Retirement Plan Administration.Below is a letter sent to Empower that records the current state of affairs. March 06, 2023 From: ***************************** xxxx W. xxxxxx St. ********************************************** Plan Name: xxxxxxxxl << EMPLOYER Plan Number: xxxxx-xx Participant ID: xxxxxxx I submitted a Withdrawal Request via certified mail on February 10 which was delivered to your company on February 14, 2023 at 5:19 AM. Tracking numbers is xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx.Your company has not processed the request to date so I can get MY MONEY and FAILED to provide any information justifying the delay even though it was asked to do so.In a call today at the **************** with a representative of the Employer as a witness that started at 09:54 AM central, a representative of your company who identified himself as **** requested credit information including my credit score so I can get MY MONEY. I, of course, refused to provide that information. Your company in the call today has now demanded that I provide a notarized Letter of Direction which includes a copy of the front and back of my drivers license. So provided here and herein.Your company activity has been well documented and will be the subject of a complaint with FINRA as well as being made available to other employees as well as several media organizations.Good Luck PRINT: *****************************

      What kind of company is this? NO customer service - NO call backs - NO emails. Directed to "Use the website" - Well that's also a bunch of ****. Pages do not load - Reports don't populate - Statements don't show. What a USELESS garbage of a company. As soon as we can get a reputable company we're changing things up. They'll not get another dime from me.
