Was enrolled in a retirement plan with Empower without consent by my employer. I am currently facing a hardship and am facing eviction. I am trying to get my money transferred to a personal account so I don't become homeless. I talked to a representative, who told me I am not allowed to touch my 401k until I turn 59 1/2 and told me to contact my employer for further assistance. I contacted my employer and they were shocked to hear I could not withdraw my money for this and also advised that they had no control over what Empower does or does not do with my account. Awful customer service, not at ALL surprised to see they are not BBB Accredited, since they have no issue stealing from people who didn't want to be involved with them in the first place. I am trying to do a hardship withdrawal and they require an eviction notice, but my apartment does not give eviction notices and has no grace ************ just kick you out. If your employer signs you up with these people, quit the job and find a new one. You'll never get your money back.Empower Retirement

My husband and I are both having difficulties with Empower concerning our RMDs. They cannot, or will not, acknowledge the amounts we wish to have withheld for state and federal taxes. They tell me I do not qualify under the ****** account. Not true. We never had a problem until Empower took over. We are very frustrated with them losing our information once and now a second time with my husband.Empower Retirement

I requested a hardship withdrawal last Wed. I was off work for 5 weeks due to surgery. I returned to work and my husband was injured and seen in the ** for treatment. In addition to those issues, our insurance denied the claim for our son to get his braces which he needs to prevent a front tooth fracture. I received an email stating, "we need more information please call" I called and resolved the issue. Last Monday I received another email. I called and was told to disregard the email and that my funds were being released. The agent stated, "Give it about 4 days to get there. You will receive a tracking number as soon as it is issued." I was very relieved and I scheduled my son's orthodontic appointment and made arrangements for my late car payment......WELL..... the next day, I got an email to call because more information was needed. I called and waited on hold for 30 minutes. I was told that the agent the day before was INCORRECT and my funds were NOT BEING RELEASED. Empower is awful!!Empower Retirement

This is possibly the WORST company I have ever dealt with. Their website is completely non-functional & have to call in to get anything done. ALL wait-times when calling are at least 30 minutes or longer. I have been dealing with this company for 2 months to get pension payments processed & am still waiting.I would recommend AVOIDING this company at all costs as they will only waste your time and money. Despicable company.Empower Retirement

This company is a full blown scam Ive been calling and theyve had my information since April 26th for a pension reimbursement since I left my job and havent received anything just stupid letters but cant send a **** check. Then used the excuse that they changed software so that was my fault and was told Im being penalized due to there system change for another 2 weeks. Also tell my why every rep I speak with on the phone doesnt know English and also every single one gives me a different answer, also god forbid you wanna speak to a supervisor youre gonna have to wait days and days to never even receive a call. To this date I still have not received my check.Empower Retirement

I attempted to roll over my 401k from Empower to a personal **** but their website was not user-friendly and misleading. I contacted a company representative for help. After spending half the day on the phone and being redirected several times between different "specialists", I was assured that the money would reach my personal *** within 3-5 business days. However, they were unable to provide a confirmation email due to certain policies.Despite waiting for 3-5 business days, I did not receive my money. When I called to inquire about the delay, I was informed that my request had been canceled. I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with various representatives and received a new confirmation number for the rollover transaction.I called back several days later to ensure everything was in order, only to find my rollover transaction had been canceled once again without any given explanation. I subsequently requested the transaction again and obtained a new confirmation number. It seems as though they are deliberately employing this pattern to retain people's money for their own purposes, which I suspect is unlawful. The entire experience was awful, and I am yet to receive my money.Empower Retirement

Intentionally messed with me. Over and over and over, they would not let me enter my retirement account to link my bank account or manage my ********************** funds. They also spammed my email over and over while not even letting me access my account. A very bad ********************** with an outdated and problematic website i.e. internet experience.Empower Retirement

Been trying to rollover my 401k to Existing Fidelity *** for 3 months. Was sent the wrong 13 pages of paperwork I completed, uploaded twice my termination letter, told to start over again after service request submitted and a hold on funds for no reason. Then, tried to escalate with a manager and they said I could get a call from them within 4 hours or so. You would think this was their first rodeo. Horrible company. ***** had to file SEC complaint 2 years ago for the same type of issue. Do better, people!Empower Retirement

Requested a withdrawal, received confirmation of ACH delivery on the 3rd. It is now the 9th and I still have not received my funds. They say there is a glitch, but no resolution in sight. I have been lied to multiple employees. They always say it will be in your account tomorrow. Blatantly lying. They should owe my interest for the funds because it has been lost for over 5 business days. Beware. Beware. Beware. If this happened to you post. They should have a class action lawsuit for their mishandling of money.Empower Retirement

I would put 0 stars if I could I no longer want to continue saving/investing into my account . There process is so long and constant emails just requesting additional information over and over . It will be something as simple as the year missing on one ********** your delayed another 2-3 days. Its been almost 7 bus days and Ive got nothing. When an adult is going through life and have kids, the last thing you want to face is feeling like your savings is not an option when life happens ! Its ******** shouldnt be kept from it. Time is of the essence and Empower dont care about waisting your time. Truly sad that in an honest hardship , youre treated as though it doesnt matter.Empower Retirement
