      I paid off a small loan to access more funds. I am being told that my payment won't be processed for 3 to 5 days, this is 2024, folks. After that I have to wait 10 days before I can apply again for a new loan. This process is time consuming and not at all efficient. I spoke to one of the Manager's and he could not even explain why the process takes so long, he was just talking in circles. I am in customer service and deal with other customer service reps. on a continually bases. The policies and customer service at ********************** are sub-par to say the least! I see on this site that a lot of people have complained about Empower holding their funds up...possible class action?

      Spoke with a representative 6/21 and was told my check was issued and would be to me in 5-10 business days. I just called after 3 weeks of waiting and was told there are new steps in the process and the wait is ***** additional days. How is this legal?! You are holding customers money and lying about when they will receive it. The employees will not send any letters or email to even confirm having the conversation, and the customer is left in the dark wondering where the h*** their money is! How is there not a class action lawsuit against this horrible company?!

      Worst retirement company to ever exist. They scammed me and wouldnt allow me to continue to contribute so I was forced to withdraw. They then charged me a $215 fee for withdrawing $231 that was left in account. I would never work with them again. Customer service refuses to help or answer questions instead they just hung up on me.

      Wow, it is somewhat comforting to know that I am not the only one having these issues with Empower. Every review here is indicative of a problem. My plan from Mutual of America was transferred to this nightmare company. Certainly no doing of my own. In a nutshell, I was given misinformation by almost every person I have dealt with there. Yes, all calls are recorded and they confirmed that I was given misinformation that comes at a significant cost! I have voiced twice that I wanted to file a formal complaint. Somehow there is no real process for this. I am stuck with them and will not stop acknowledging their lack of knowledge and unprofessionalism. This is not good when you have to trust them with your money! I will move the funds as soon as I am able. Awful company! Go elsewhere.

      This company is a joke. I have tried to get a hardship redrawal from my 401k and the process they have in place is a headache. So I applied for this hardship 3 months ago. When it 1st started the process for this hardship I waited a week with no response so I called the call volume is always 30 minutes at least when I calledjust a FYI. Then the 1st respondents are the ones who tried to verify who you are which is a joke. this process can be done by the Duo authentication app but anyway. they asked your name, etc., the same questions the auto system asks to direct your call. then they pulled up your account and told me that I was denied because of the address info. I was never notified that I didn't receive an email or letter but they denied it real quick. how I changed my address which extended the process to 12 - 13 business days. Then I waited to reprocess the forms again to deny I was not notified but I called to see what was going on they said my address had to be changed again. So I had to change my address again so this has been 3 months going back and forth. I had to get my HR involved about the address change now everything looks promising however again I now have to wait an additional 7 more days for transfer of funds. this is my money not yours smh

      This is my second time making a complaint as I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY PENSION PAYMENTS after submitting paperwork in MAY 2024. I have contacted the company multiple times and wasted hours talking to reps who have given me ZERO HELP.THIS IS INSANSITY - IT HAS BEEN 2.5 MONTHS & STILL AM LEFT WITHOUT STATUS OF WHEN IT WILL PAY.THIS COMPANY IS TERRIBLE & DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO STAY AWAY!

      Empower retirement is through my company. You get about 4 transfers a call and I had a 28 min wait about everytime I call them. Then they said I can't withdraw my own money unless I am no longer employed...My manager and HR trying to get me to stay but I am currently having finacial problem. They don't care about people or you might go homeless. My manager said she would rehire me if I need to quit to get my 401k...You can make your own thoughts about the company but there is a reason they rating is so low...

      Empower moved my account to another ******************** institution without notifying me. I logged on to my account and it showed a 0 balance and that a distribution was made of the total amount. I was terrified. My first thought was that fraud was involved. Not a good way to conduct business. **********

      I recently requested to withdraw funds from my 401k under a hardship withdrawal, it was approved and the funds were supposed to be direct deposited into my account LAST week. now a week later and two voided checks later, I still have not received my funds because they cant follow the instructions that have been provided to the TWICE. This is probably the most incompetent company I have ever encountered in my entire life. I despise the fact that our company uses Empower now. I'm filing a report with the Better business bureau.

      Horrible service customer service! They closed my account without contacting me (they claim they sent an email out 2 months in advance) and charged me $140 for transferring the money to another party. I found this out as I went to rollover my balance, but now I can't and have to wait another 13 days for the new party to get the funds so they can transfer it to me, also for an additional fee.I called Empower and they were complete useless and not will to do anything to help.
