We reached out to this consumer and unfortunately, they do not have their device or batteries for us to analyze. Without these we are unable to move forward with this claim as we do not have anything to analyze to help us understand what occurred. Strangely, we have also discovered that 2 of the pictures that the consumer submitted were duplicate images taken from another consumer from **** and ******. For these reasons , we have notified the consumer that their claim has been denied at this time. Here are the images that I mentioned above. As mentioned, they appear to be taken from other images posted from **** and ******.

Submitted a warranty claim for a pack of 4 CR/DL 2016 batteries stored in side of a regular house that failed within the 10yr guarantee that Duracell claims and 2 batteries were never opened in the original sealed package. Duracell claims it stands by its warranty and will send a coupon for a replacement of 4 pack. I requested the customer services representative just shipped me a 4pack CR 2016 batteries, my request was rejected.
However, the coupon received is limited to $10 (sale price of 4 pack is above $10 before the tax) can not buy a 4 pack replacement pack and incredibly difficult to use as I have yet to find a local store carry 4 pack CR2016 that can accept this coupon including **** ****** ******** *** , and online stores don't accept this coupon either. When Duracell claimed it standby its product quality and then provided a replacement coupon that 1. not a local store will carry such product to buy/pickup in store and 2. no online purchase/checkout will accept this coupons, then this replacement coupon is useless and Duracell stands by its warranty by giving consumers a useless paper.
If Duracell's warranty is to provide coupons that is so difficult to use, they should reconsider providing a warranty . Duracell misleads the consumers that it provides 10 years warranty. What does the print on the back of package “Best before Mar. 2030” mean ? Now is only March 2023.

I purchased Duracell 3V Li batteries. The new packaging of the “Child Secure 8 pack” consists of a plastic sealed encapsulated battery adhered to cardboard backing. The thickness, sharpness and packaging overkill makes it impossible to gain access to the batteries without harm to the consumer.
In the past, the batteries had a plastic covering on the top and sides glued to perforated cardboard to push the batteries through. The new packaging requires pealing the plastic encapsulated Li ion battery from the cardboard to penetrate a thick plastic covering to gain access to the battery. The packaging makes it impossible to open without injury to the consumer. I attempted to unsuccessfully open the packaging. I resorted to scissors to cut the battery out but there was insufficient clearance around the battery for the scissors to cut.
After several attempts to gain access I was cut by jagged plastic. At one point I used my teeth to create a perforation and was able to puncture it a bit. No one should have to go to these lengths to open up a battery!
I called the 1-800-551-2355 customer line to talk to a rep in the packaging department who could address this issue and hopefully resolve it. The rep repeat the same line:” i am sorry to hear your trouble..I will pass this on to the packaging department” more than 15 times. I asked to be
forwarded to the packaging department and was told “No”. I asked the rep to take down my information/complaint to receive a call back and was told “No”. I asked to speak to someone else and was placed on hold for 5” before the same rep returned and stated “I will pass this on to the packaging department”.
She told me to “use scissors or a knife to open the package “ which I stated I attempted to but was injured. “Did you try a knife?” I was asked. Is it really a good idea to jab a knife into rigid plastic with a battery on the other side?
Pictures of the packaging and my injury ( minor) are enclosed.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is not, as of 2/24/23, fully resolved. I was petitioning Duracell to improve and safeguard consumer injuries from the hazards of trying to open thick plastic encapsulated batteries without using scissors and/or knives ( as recommended by customer service) to me. I was told that the complaint would be forwarded and discussed by Duracell. A new blister pack of batteries was offered and declined since that fails to address the issue at hand. A manager did offer to refund the cost of the batteries but that also has not happened as of 2/24/23. The manager was in agreement of the risk and challenges in opening up the fully encapsulated batteries but stated that new package protocols were for child safety laws. If that is truly the case, the consumer safety commission is failing to address injuries obtained by children and adults over the age of six. I do appreciate the company reaching out to me and look forward to implementing some of the safety suggestions I proposed.

      Sincerely,

Submitted a warranty claim for a pack of 32 AAA batteries that were leaking in a brand new sealed package well within the 10yr guarantee that Duracell claims and the batteries were not to be expired until 2028. Duracell promptly provided coupons for replacement. However, these coupons are incredibly difficult to use as I have yet to find anywhere that can accept these coupons including some of the largest retailers they have listed on their website (******/**** *****), and online stores dont work either.

When reaching out back to ask where I can use the coupon this was their response:
"The coupons can be used at a store that accepts manufacturer's coupons. If you are unsure if a store accepts manufacturer's coupons then we recommend contacting the store before you go there so they can let you know what their policy is."

Not a very helpful response, so I asked if there's any specific retailer they can provide so I don't waste even more time with trying to figure out where in the short list of in store retailers would accept and subsequently received no response. If Duracell's warranty is to provide coupons that are so difficult to use and their customer service doesnt even know where they are accepted, maybe they should reconsider providing a warranty.

Purchased a Duracell branded automotive battery from batteries plus and the warranty claim was denied by manufacturer because the battery would not hold a charge. What is the point of a battery warranty if it doesn't cover broken batteries?

I purchased a pack of AA Duracell batteries. They have not been sure in any extreme environments, only in my home. When I opened them to use them the device I put them in did not work. I thought to myself that there must be a dud in the group of 4 batteries, but not knowing which one it could be I decided to put all of those aside and just get 4 new batteries. Guess what? The device still did not work. Mind you, this is a brand new device straight out of the box. So I used another set of batteries (not Duracell), and the device worked. I went back and put the Duracells in the device and nothing happened, it still would not work. I no longer have the receipt so I can not take it back to the store. I purchased the batteries last year, they are supposed to last 10 years. Id like to get a refund or a replacement pack of batteries.

I bought a 40 pack of Duracell AA batteries from ****** in 2019 and they stated to last 10 years. The dates on these batteries are MAR 2029 but I have only used 12 batteries when I noticed that my devices were losing power quickly or acting erratically, i.e. remotes, computer mice, etc.
When I replaced the batteries in these devices some of them would not even work and I noticed white corrosion on the negative end on some of the batteries.
How do I get a refund as I no longer have a receipt for these?
I still have about 28 batteries that are no longer good and should have lasted more than 3 years in climate controlled storage.

      To whom it may concern:
We are a loyal Duracell Battery Family, and have used Duracell for many years, no matter the size of the batteries that we may need. With everything that has been going on in our world, our families have made and stocked pantries, including batteries. We have multiples of the Duracell Optimum Battery Multi Packs, 50 Duracell Optimum Packages total, and they are stored in dry, safe and with stable temperatures. We purchased most of our Duracell Optimum Batteries in December, 2020 and January, 2021. Most were purchased at ******* Stores here in ***** ******* *** Our daughter just called to say that she was getting batteries out for her children, getting ready for school to start and installing batteries. Every last one of her packages of Duracell Optimum Triple AAA are corroded-She has not checked other sizes yet. I'm pulling ALL of ours, All 50 Packages that we have left, out to see how many are corroded. I believe I will now need to go through all our devices to make sure that they have not been ruined by the corrosion. Please, I can , AND I WILL, send every package back to Duracell. I can take pictures of all the packaging and batteries. I just looked on-line and see that I am not the only one to have these problems, and there is still no recall. Also too, I do see that these Duracell Optimum Batteries do not seem to have the 10/12 Year Warranty/Guarantee. Even at 1 1/2 plus years since our initial purchases, these Duracell Batteries should NOT be corroding.
At this point, I really do not want to keep any of these batteries, even the ones that are not corroded, and I'd like them replaced with regular batteries, NOT these Duracell Optimum Batteries as I do not want to take any further chances of ruining our devices.
Please help to guide me in what I should, or what I need to do?
Thank you so much for any and all help,

I am rejecting this response because:

      Sincerely,

Fri. 8-19-22 To Whom it may Concern:

I was contacted by a Voice Mail Message from Matt at Duracell Saturday 8-12-22, 12:22pm.... he left a message to call back #800-551-2355 and talk to any customer agent. While Matt's message was precise and he sounded knowledgeable and friendly, when I called back, the next person was not any of this. I called back Saturday 8-12-22 at 12:24pm and got Kevin. Kevin kept losing his train of thought, not quite sure what he was talking about, phone ringing in the background-said he was home and their landline was ringing, not really very nice. I felt like I needed to prompt him to get any information. Kevin did tell me that I was only allowed to send back a few batteries, as I said I had 50 total packs in our pantry because of Covid and the war in Ukraine. I wanted to return even the non-corrosive batteries as I do not trust these any longer, and we are a loyal Duracell family. I had to open each and every multi-pack to check for the corrosion, which I've marked those packages. I'd like to have these all exchanged for a different type of battery. Kevin said that a label would be sent out, and I asked if I needed to have my own box-no problem.

So, while I am not in total disagreement, I wanted the manner and information from Kevin noted that it really wasn't a good interaction, which I believe goes against the company.

I am definitely wanting to work this through with Duracell and am waiting to get a return shipping label, and will be sending ALL 50 multi-packs, including non-corroded.

Thank you for checking in as I do appreciate all the effort. I have not done anything like this before, and I'm hoping to send all batteries back.

Let's hope all works out. I cannot imagine a good sized company having such a problem with no recall.

      God Bless, **** ****

I'm amazed and speechless that you reached out and completely took care of every last one of my 50 packages of Duracell Batteries. Thank you so much for the refund, as I thought maybe I'd get some battery replacements. I apologize that I was unable to communicate the last few days as I've been in hospital. But now that I'm out and recouping, the least I can do is let everyone know that Duracell continues to try to take care of the real people that use their products. We are and will continue to be a Duracell Family.

Thank you so very much. God Bless everyone at Duracell.
