After having them since 2018 I am currently switching. I received an almost 2 hour lecture from a licensed insurance agent who refused to answer my questions on my coverage. She actually was yelling into the phone and trying to sell me more insurance.
Never answered my question and just kept repeating that she is a licensed insurance agent and even spent 15 minutes telling me to prounce her name right.
Asked for her suggestions to my policy in writing and she refused even via email. And the lecture on how much smarter she is than me continued. I honestly don't know how they keep any customers. Used to be good 2 years ago. Now the worst service I have ever encountered with anyone anywhere

Aetna is TOXIC - stay away from them. They will deny your claims, pay some claims then reverse it so you owe even more. Even though my employer is covering me with this insurance, it is STILL NOT WORTH IT. where do we turn? I have never had such horrible experiences with them. My dental is also through them and it has been a year that they keep denying a claim on saying that the dentist is not providing what they need to process the claim when I know for a FACT as I have been working with the insurance staff at that dentist continually with this claim and they HAVE provided EVERYTHING they have asked for. In fact, each time the dentist reaches out to them in regards tothis claim, Aetna always adds on another piece of document they say they need.
There is no way around it - AETNA JUST FLAT OUT SUCKS THE BIG ONE!
I wish there was a way to give negative stars (less than a one star), then I would give them 30 negative stars

I truly believe I have pancreatic cancer. My grandfather died from this cancer. I have increasing alarming and persistent symptoms that indicate I need a Pet/CT scan to diagnose. These have all come up in the last six months. Before this, I had not been to a doctor for over 15 years. I am always healthy! The scan is not covered, yet today, I got a call from Aetna, wanting to schedule my in-home health/wellness visit, bragging about the care I would receive. That is someone's salary, gas, and paperwork... are you telling me that is cheaper than allowing me to know if I have a seriously deadly cancer? Sorry to vent, but I am scared. In this month, they have denied my doctor visit for extreme nausea and for a very bad upper respiratory infection I have randomly developed. Aetna has cost me more this month than I have paid in premiums. If nothing else, I hope someone reads this and understands this company talks the talk, but will let you DIE.

If I could give Aetna 0 stars I would. This is by far the WORST insurance that you could have. This insurance covers absolutely nothing. My delivery cost 60,000 and Aetna covered barely anything. Leaving me with an insane bill. Customer service is a joke and there is a huge language barrier and lack of benefit knowledge by their agents. In one day I had to speak to 4 agents to get correct information. If you do not hit your insane deductible, it restarts in December and nothing you payed for counts towards it. Save yourself the money and stress and pick another insurance.

If I could leave no stars I would. Every claim I have submitted has been handled incorrectly requiring multiple follow ups and back and for them to resolve. They make it so hard to have anything covered - it feels like they are intentionally making it hard in the hopes that people don't notice or are too lazy or just defeated to follow-up. Their online claims tool is terrible, you can't see submitted claims listed, only processed claims, so you never know what is going on and can't confirm previous claims submitted. Their support team will reach out then never follow-up when they say they are going to. If you have a choice to void Aetna - avoid at all costs.

My 18 yr old son has had chronic back pain most of his life - he has done everything that Aetna Insurance company required of him - Physical Therapy, Nerve ablation, Steroid shots, Spinal injections and nothing has relieved his pain. Over the past several years the problems have worsened to include nerve pain, weakness in both his upper and lower extremities, he now has a cane he uses but still can only stand or walk for no more than 30 mins. His back specialist advised he would need back surgery to remedy the excruciating pain and suffering he has been going through. Now we have been denied again on our fourth and final appeal through Aetna / Evicore and then their external review team. Not once has anyone come to visit my son to see the pain and agony he is going through. As soon as I am able to choose a new medical insurance company through my employer I will be doing so! If you dig into these companies that do the reviews you can see they are all doctor rejects and their rating are sub par. I cannot believe how bad the insurance industry has progressed. Maybe Obama Care would be better for my family.

By far the WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I won't waste time with details but I will say that I called them about 10 times over the course of a month (after I newly signed up) to get problems fixed with my online profile and each time I was either given the wrong information, transferred from someone who "didn't handle it" to someone else who "didn't handle it", I was told someone would follow up on certain things and then never did, I often got people who spoke broken English and I could tell they were looking up answers and then either making things up or giving me their interpretation of what they were reading, the list of PCPs on their website is very outdated (I tried 4 different PCPson their list only to be told that for differing reasons the PCP could not be used). When I asked about their list of preventative care that's covered they said there was no list. I asked for some kind of outline instead and they could not provide that either. Which makes me believe there are none, or they don't want to pay so they don't make it easy to find. It was so bad that I decided it was better to risk going without health insurance then give this business another dollar, and I cancelled. Then they kept half of my premium even though I didn't use the insurance at all because they "assumed the liability" during that time. what BS. I can't believe they are still in business. DO NOT USE ***-Aetna!!

Terrible coverage. Between my company and I we are paying $25,000 a year. Still have a $6,500 deductible....and almost nothing is covered until $6,500. Literally useless.

Like others, got a bill from doctor for uncovered expenses regarding a 16yr old's yearly physical. I can't log in to the website because it never f'ing works for me. That "ticket" could take 7-10 for the to solve - this time. It'll be another 10-14 just to get me the EOB so I can see what they didn't cover and why.
Pharmacy card is basically an exercise in seeing how high Aetna can get your stress level. One script, fill it monthly for $10, but for the 90-day supply Aetna doesn't cover it. Another drug has to be 90-days or they don't cover it. But EVERY time it's prescribed it's initially denied.
Aetna is a disservice to health care and well being in this country, it's as simple as that.

Misleading/fraudulent misrepresentation of policy coverage by their so-called "registered salesmen". Said the Medicare Advantage supplemental dental plan would cover implants. It does not. Still charged me $240 in premiums until I cancelled. Complained, no response. Criminal.
