      Aetna is the worst insurance company I have ever had. Don’t choose Aetna if you have any other options! They want to change my chemo therapy to just save money and risk my life.

      Worst Insurance Ever! Multiple denials and denied appeals. Absolutely worthless and dangerous doctors in network. Run for your life from this company. I was shocked.

      Aetna falsely advertises free preventive care. Please, pay attention to Aetna's billing summary! Last year, my husband had a routine checkup and routine lab tests by his PCP's recommendation. Later, he received a $114 bill from the laboratory and we discovered that Aetna treated these tests as diagnostic tests. We appealed twice to Aetna about this. However, they responded that it is considered a diagnostic test because my husband didn't finish his blood tests within 7 days after PCP was ordered. Since we didn't receive any information about the 7 days lab test policy from Aetna, we filed a complaint to ********** Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC), but they rejected our claim because Aetna is based in **** We filed a complaint to the Department of Financial Services (DFS) in NYC, and we finally got a response from DFS and Aetna saying that the lab test should be categorized as a preventive care except VitD test. As you can see, Aetna does their best to save money and try to deceive the customers!

      The worst. Every single claim is processed wrong. If you call it’s 45 plus minutes with no resolution because the reps don’t have your plan information. If you write they will send you a form letter saying they determined they were correct. This company should not be in business.

      The WORST health insurance company out there!!! Too bad you aren't able to submit zero or negative stars. They acknowledge that they made a serious mistake, but only respond with "we're reviewing" or "looking into it". My deductible and out of pocket maximums were met, but they didn't pay any subsequent claims. STAY AWAY!!

      So much for going to an in network dentist. They covered less than half the cost of the appointment. I understand they’re going to remove the cost of the deductible from a refund for a claim. However, customer service sucks. Aetna is a scam. Only reason I’m with them is it’s an employer plan. Otherwise I’d 100% use a different carrier. Super unsatisfied.

      BEWARE-Does not do what they say! Moved to a rural area and after doing some research it seemed Aetna was widely accepted here. While discussing plan options, I was told one of my anti-depressants would not be covered (require preauthorization) and I would no longer be able to see my out of state Psychiatrist. These were deal breakers for me but as we were ending our call and saying good-bye, all of a sudden (as if someone was listening and gave it to her) the agent texted me a "Temporary out-of-network physician waiver" form. That put me at ease knowing I would most likely be able to continue seeing my Dr. while I looked for a new one, so I went ahead and enrolled. Since, NOBODY there has ever heard of this form and the document has mysteriously disappeared from my phone. When speaking with the reps, they acted as if I didn't actually see it or ever receive it. And in no way has Aetna taken any responsibility for their mistake. Obviously, I was misinformed, by the sales agent (which may be outsourced to ThinkAgent) about two things; 1) my medication WAS covered and 2) I would not be able to get a waiver to continue seeing my psychiatrist of 9yrs. VERY BIG DEAL!!! They didn't seem to think so as all they kept saying was "we really sorry but". The rep supposedly filed a complaint on the sales agent as I had her name from the emails she sent, but my gut tells me that is lie, I plan to contact Corporate myself. Immediately, after hanging up with them, I called my old provider and reenrolled. I can't say for sure if this was intentional or not, but I do know they do not seem to have their clients' best interests at heart. This was their mistake, and they have no interest in making it right. All in all, I'm happy with my decision to leave that Aetna. Wish I could leave 0 stars!

      Aetna's Customer Service is virtually non-existent. After being approved for a recent surgery, I have received nothing but incorrect and/or conflicting information from their staff. Outsourcing Customer Service to the ************ while cost-effect for Aetna, does not provide service to their customers. Agents and Supervisors do not call back, despite their promises to do so to help resolve cases. I am being bombarded with bills that should have been part of the coverage for this procedure. All that this requires is a simple yes or no answer; this is not a multiple choice quiz. There should be only one answer; the correct one. I too will look for other another provider in the future. Their incompetence is staggering.

      I love how they keep using coordination of benefits to refuse to pay the bills while continuing to collect our premiums. We submitted this a thousand times over and over yet somehow they are still confused when you have multiple insurance coverage. They will approve one bill on the same date but refuse another bill also on the exact date and then ask for coordination of benefits. Stay clear away from them. I will reach out to my HR and submit the same concerns.
