Very similar experience with the door to door Arcadia person. Tried to get me to sign up, and I asked for more time to think about it and do some research. Got a little upset saying this was commission for the sales rep, and showing me their website and saying there are articles about it. I reiterated that I wanted time to do more research, and he got more pushy. Asked to see my bill and then just started signing me up without asking and messing with my phone without my permission.
Got very uncomfortable and I had to ask him to leave, which he left with I was making a mistake and didn't know anything. Little more reviewing there are a few articles that seems to say you can get a solar credit in specific states, but people also list that the credit doesn't always come through? Also it seems they are very hard to contact.
Felt like a scam and even with research I find myself uncertain what it actually is...

A lady knocked on my door today saying I was owned credits and showed me a clip board with a piece of paper and the first two words I saw were Arcadia and BGE. I immediately said whatever your trying to sell I am not interested. She said I'm trying to save you money on your energy bill. I said no your trying to steal my money by trying to get me to sign up with your company. I said please leave and do not ever knock on my door again!

They bill you an arbitrary amount depending on how much energy they generate throughout the month rather than what you actually use. Ended up doubling and sometimes tripling what I would have paid if I just stuck with CMP, $140 bills from cmp became $300+

Not to mention a 90 day cancelation period where I'm sure they're going to try to squeeze another grand out of me before actually closing the account.

Representatives will usually get back to you within a day, so that's nice. But they'll often just talk around the issues you present and just link some internally made article full of info on how their business plan works and how it's totally saving you money somehow. "See you save 10% off the top of the bill that we doubled for you!"

Three representatives came to my door and said they were with Arcadia here on behalf of PSEG. They stated that some neighbors had complaints about extra charges on their power bill and they wanted to make sure I didn't have extra charges on my bill. I refused as this screamed scam. They had no paperwork and no company badges. They misrepresent themselves as they are NOT from PSEG and are not working on "behalf" of them.

Took months and months to get into a community solar farm and at that point my bills were the same as what Con Ed listed. Now the most recent bill is over double what Con Ed charged me for and there doesn't seem to be away to stop autopay. I can only imagine what the summer bills are going to look like if this is how we're starting out.

Shameful business practices and absolutely no transparency.

Their website makes it impossible to have control over your own auto-pay abilities. Once you sign up for auto-pay they now have full control to charge you whatever they want to charge you.
Even if you do see savings on your electric bill through them, you better not try to cancel because they will find a way to bill you extra for "Community solar credits" which is code for "we're stealing from you".
I'd love to see proof that they are even actually working with solar farms.
None of the billing statements are itemized. There is no transparency at all.

The best part, is there is a clause in their contracts that states:
"Any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or
relating to this Agreement ... shall be resolved by arbitration in the JAMS or other accredited arbitration
office located closest in mileage to your permanent place
of residence ... We agree that any Dispute between us shall be
resolved exclusively by arbitration as set forth in this Section 11 (“Arbitration Provision”). Either
Party may initiate the arbitration process by filing the necessary forms with JAMS"

If you go to the above website to file an arbitration, JAMS expects you to pay them at least $2,000 up front in legal fees.
      So basically, you're screwed.

Read your contracts before signing them, kids.
I never saw ANY discounts or credits on my account until after I tried to cancel the plan, then suddenly I had credits that I needed to pay back to the "solar farm".

Maybe if the company spent less time replying to all these negative reviews and more time updating their website, training their customer service reps, and fixing their entire business model...

We had two gentleman from Arcadia stop by yesterday afternoon requesting to see our BGE statement. My husband told them that we were not interested, but they kept pushing and claiming to be from the government and not to be selling anything. They were then asked to please leave and did not take kindly to that. When asked for information about their boss, they said that they were self employed. What was most upsetting was that they insulted my husband by saying how awful he was and how they hoped his afternoon was ruined now. My husband had to pull out his phone to call in a complaint in order to get them to leave. If this is how they treat people, then I certainly don’t want to sign up with this company.

I am still with Arcadia after thinking about it for a long while and deeply researching this and all the other reviews people leave.

What I WISH I knew before signing up

      • if you don’t disconnect your current autopay, you will be double billed. It happened to me. Annoying as hell. But I got a credit back for the amount within a couple days after telling BGE.

      • Arcadia will change your username for BGE but not your password. I was again ANNOYED because no one told me this, however it makes sense and I was pretty easily able to find my new username and sign in to take off autopay. Yes they did email this to me and told me to do this but I don’t always check emails I just don’t live like that.

      • IMPORTANT: if you sign up, Arcadia pays your bill 3 days after ISSUE DATE. Not DUE DATE. If you live paycheck to paycheck DONT SIGN UP. Call the company that works with all the farms and ask for a Low Income Qualifed Farm. You will get WAY HIGHER DISCOUNTS.

Because these things were not communicated I almost canceled. My credits are not the full 10% but I have been getting them and the bill is always a little cheaper. So I’ll stay with them until we go solar on our own house. Arcadia, PLEASE DO BETTER!

The only reason I decided to stay on the farm was that I’m paying to subsidize these farms for other people anyway and if I’m already paying for it then I better get what I deserve. Ask your local community solar group if there are better options than Arcadia and what the differences are

Totally a scam. A representative came to my house in Chicago claiming that I had to switch to Arcadia, that it was somehow mandated by the City Law. Then he tried to take my Gas Connection details as well! It all seemed too fishy. I ended up not doing the final steps of the application but knowing that this company is a scam I am scared that they might cause me trouble anyway.

What a scam company. Highly recommend you stay away mainly because their customer service is a joke. I specifically requested to cancel my account through email and got confirmation from the customer service rep that it was canceled. I also got an auto email notification stating that the account was closed but lo and behold, I get an email 2 weeks later stating that my Utility account bill will be charged through Arcadia and that I need to cancel autopay through my utility account to avoid double charging.

I have email proofs which I have saved luckily and have reached out again for account cancellation. On top of this, I signed up during a promotion which was not honored at all even though I saved the offer webpage and went back & forth with the customer service team for multiple days.

Overall, this is a company that I would highly recommend people stay away from and this has nothing to do with clean energy - Arcadia probably does what they are supposed to. But, they will certainly be unsupportive and unhelpful for when you run into an issue or when you want to cancel their service.

Run away like its the plague.
