    SCAM at its WORSE This company targets people who want to do good, who want to help the environment and others , targets the climate-do-gooders (make sure to read the daily beast article about this company), all their practices are scam, they drag you in with a good cause and with sense of cooperation and working with your local recognized local company like Ever Source or National Grid so you would feel "safe" , initial rates are a bit more expensive than regular but "you feel like you are doing good" so you don't mind, after a year or so they start increasing your rates to the point of absurd , it is only when you try to cancel that you will realize how much you had been scammed , customer service offered me a rate about 70% off my latest rate and a $100 credit on my last invoice to keep me with the company, Constant reminders that if you cancel with us you are turning your back on nature ..... Overall its beyond a scam there is an illegal feel to the whole thing and this company needs to be fully investigated by authorities

While sometimes variable plans can offer a lower rate (which customers love), they do run the risk of rising as well. As a supplier of 100% clean renewable wind and solar energy, we never claim to be the lowest cost provider.     I called checking on the rate , it was a bit higher than our previous carrier . The young lady matched the competitors within cents , so a great first customer service experience.

    My bill doubled. We used less and it went up again. I wanted to help the environment not spend half my rent cost on electricity. I could cry. And right at the holidays too.

The amount of electricity being used in the home has doubled from 1254kwh in October, to 2399kwh in November, and 2456kwh in December.     HORRIBLE! Don't go with this company. After they've sucked you in, they stuck your pocketbook dry. I have 2 people living in my home (over 65). Last months bill was $560. This month is $995. This is outrageous! I must run my oxygen constantly so I've lowered the temperature in my home and added a lot of blankets to keep warm.
    Trying to contact ANYONE at Clean Choice is impossible.
    I have severed the relationship and moved back to my original provider of 30+ years.
    Please...buyer BEWARE!!!

    Our normal electric bill during the winter is around $300. Last month it was nearly $1,500.
    They advertise $.17 / KWH for new customers for 1 year (then they jack up the rate since they know that the electric bills are difficult for most people to understand).
    The scammers charged us $.38 / KWH vs Peco's rate of $0.87 / KWH - almost 4 1/2x the amount. They snuck up the rate gradually in the last year from $.24 to $.38 during the warmer months when it wouldn't be noticed until you are hit with the huge with huge bills.
    DO NOT USE THEM!!! Helping the environment is a good thing, but you can donate the extra $1,000 to actually help the environment rather than line the pockets of CleanChoice's investors and exectives

    I switched to CleanChoice because I wanted to be environmentally friendly and I didn't mind if it cost a little more to do that. It went fine the first few months, my electricity bill was only slightly higher. The past two months are a different story. I went from a $280-$320 typical electricity bill to $450 and then this most recent bill of $640. I was left wondering what the hell was happening because it wasn't like we were using a ton more electricity.
    Well, as it so happens, CleanChoice arbitrarily decided to charge more. No idea why, but I am cancelling because I can't afford for my bills to more than double.

    I'm a huge proponent of clean energy, but if this is CleanChoice Energy's business model, they are doing more harm to the environment than good. When I signed up in May of 2021, my average bill for electricity supply from CleanChoice was $56.60 for our 1,200 sq. ft. seasonal camp in the Adirondacks. The CleanChoice bill for the entire season came to $396.20. The next season, my average CleanChoice bill for the 6-month season came to $277.12. The total bill, before I cancelled their service, came to $1,385.59. Only my love of the environment kept me with them until we closed the camp. Something is not right when clean energy cannot compete with conventional energy sources.

    Frankly, I'm not at all sure I'm actually gettin "green" energy. I live in an older building-- a large, old, elegant late Victorian house in Shadyside, Pittsburgh--which now has been broken down into ten apartments, most of which are college students, or young professionals. No children, to my knowledge, in the building. I'm the out-lier, at 80 years old.
    Anyway, I'm not aware of how these apartments are heated (and what we have is really poor; in cold weather, indoor temperature is between 50 and 60 degrees, at most). I never see a bill that tells me how much I'm paying for my heat, which, frankly, I assume must be included in the rent, given the fact that I never receive a bill. And, have just checked to see whether it's being billed to me via the one credit card that I use for these sorts of expenses.
    So-- maybe my electricity is included in my monthly rent. Who knows? It's a mystery.
    Thanks for listening. I really hope my landlord has subscribed to "clean choice"--but it's also really hard to believe!

    In the space of a couple of years, the rate charged to me by CleanChoice went from 0.08 KWh to an absolutely shocking 0.34 KWh. Pepco, by comparison, is currently charging about 0.11 KWh. My last bill, for the month of December/January 2023, to heat a 600 square foot one-bedroom below-grade condo with 8-inch-thick concrete walls and new-build windows, at a temperature ranging between 68-71 degrees was an astounding $279! When I called CleanChoice, the customer representative, who was very kind, had many offers to make to try to retain me. She offered a 12-month contract at 0.152 KWh (after which the rate would presumably return to their "variable" rate). When I declined, she further offered a reimbursement of a portion of my most recent bill. My response to her was that it was deeply insulting that they can offer me service at 0.152 KWh but have instead chosen to jack my rate up to 0.34 KWh. Electricity, like food, is not a discretionary purchase, and it should be a crime to fleece customers in this way. That is what CleanChoice is doing: targeting and fleecing customers who are trying to live by their values. Wind and solar are cheaper to generate than fossil fuels at this point. Do not be fooled and do not allow them to buy you off with lower rates after-the-fact or lame partial reimbursements. I cancelled my contract and will stick with Pepco until a company comes along that is willing to provide green energy with integrity and transparency.
