1 starGo into poverty or support clean energy. Your choice. But it's not actually your choice. Since switching to CleanEnergy, the price of my electricity has gone up 100% and up to 150% on some bills with no changes to electricity consumption in my home all without my knowledge. They do not notify you of price increases or send you pdf files of your bills. Just tiny picture of a snapshot of your bill. They also will never inform you of price increases. Even when you sign up for a "fixed rate". Make sure to mind that asterisk next to your fixed rate everyone. My energy cost went from 16 cents to 25 cents to a now whopping 47 cents. Thankfully, Linda, a lovely service rep, was able to lower my payments from 47 cents to 16.5 cents and reimburse me for at least this month. She was very helpful and pleasant to work with. However, the upper management, shareholders, and CEO of CleanEnergy leave a lot to be desired in terms of transparency and non-predatory business practices. Shame on everyone but Linda. I know this message will have zero impact on the person who is tasked to reply to this review with your standard HR lingo or any of the other aforementioned responsible parties involved but I hope it deters even a single person from falling subject to the same predatory scheme that I have. By the way they raise the cost of consumption without notifying you, you would think their goal was to improve clean energy by putting you into poverty to the point of losing your home and living in a tent thus leaving a smaller, more sustainable carbon footprint. Absolutely disappointing from a company hiding under the guise of managing energy consumption to improve the quality of life on Earth.Review fromAntoinette D

1 starThey didn't tell me I could sign up for a lower locked in rate until I called to complain about just how variable my rate had been for the few months I'd been using the service. I had no idea I had a variable rate to begin with. They said they could refund me one month of the overpayment if I signed a one or two year contract, which I was absolutely not interested in by that point. Trust lost. 1 starI was scammed out of $3000 last year by this company. Apparently, they raised my rates without telling me. I thought we were using more energy but eventually realized the cost went way up. Now I'm trying to cancel. They lowered my rate but won't reimburse me.Review fromWendy l

1 starThis is really a joke! I don't need to pay to the national grid company, but to you, an unknown company! Is it the electricity you provided me? It sounds good that your company will turn the electricity used by guests into clean, renewable sources. My home is now using solar energy, and solar energy is natural. Each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of solar that is generated will substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions like CO2, as well as other dangerous pollutants such as sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. Solar also reduces water consumption and withdrawal. What can you do! What proof! Are you gods? I installed solar so I could save money, not spend more money, cheating guests in the first place will save money, assuring guests will save money! But in fact, it is cheating money!This is simply a rubbish and deceitful company! what kind of service does this garbage company do! I am angry! I will not pay for these bills!Review fromAllison R

Like many other reviewers I was somehow enrolled in a variable rate without my knowledge. While this may have been hidden in terms and conditions somewhere there was no email, phone call, or letter telling me that the rate plan had changed. I have paid thousands of dollars more than I needed to over several years (thinking it was worth it to support clean energy and assuming it was on par with what other clean energy cost). There are alternative green options for less than 1/3 of what I was paying to CleanChoice.CleanChoice Energy Inc

4 starsLike other reviewers, my energy billed had a big increase and I couldn't figure out why. Someone finally pointed the CC rate increase so I called and was immediately locked into a much lower fixed annual rate. Hopefully, CC will advise when my annual contract is close to expiration. We were never informed that our rate was changing not that we had an option to “lock in a new fixed rate plan”. Not an email, a letter, a phone call… nothing. These are deceptive practices preying on the good intentions of eco conscious consumers. Even lying here that you’re a supplier of clean renewable energy! Your company sells ERCs. We demand a refund of the difference between what we’ve been paying since our fixed rate expired and whatever our “new fixed rate plan” should have been. This is bait and switch. This company is basically a scam. They enticed me to sign up by claiming that the price wasn't much higher than the utility and then increased my rate so that my bill was over $1000/mo. They also lied about the current energy mix in my area, and their claims to be 100% renewable aren't accurate either. I plan to file a claim in arbitration to receive a refund of funds overpaid. Scam, per KWH rate increased from 10.3 cents Dec 2020 to 31.2 cents currently Apr 2023. Just switched to another green energy company for around 10 cents per KWH. Shame on us for not keeping track of the increases prior to now.CleanChoice Energy Inc

I was scammed by Clearchoice by someone selling this in BJ's for BJ's membership. They said it will be $99 for one month and after one month they will intimate you based on usage that your fixed bill is going to be $109 or $119 per month. No one spoke or emailed anything and all of a sudden I was billed in the last 4 months more than double from last year's same period even if considering the weather-based usage and both their contact info ending 4900 and-0798 is not usable since it disconnects you after the pre-recorded message. It's a day robbery and brutal for consumers, BBB should take strong ACTION against such predatory businesses targeting the general public. I am exploring my legal option since no written or email communication has been sent to me in this regard so far. But as soon as I canceled I keep getting emails like" want to join big" " Are you missing clear choice" and " want to make a difference"- HELL with difference making.CleanChoice Energy Inc
