$763.32 date of transaction 11/06/22. Bought a total of 12 tickets from this website (a secondary seller) to a local Nutcracker performance. Only allowed 6 tickets to be purchased at a time. Received confirmation of 6 tickets being available with very confusing instructions on how to access them. The second set of tickets I was told were guaranteed to be received from the seller by 12/03/22 - the actual day of the event. Only if I didn’t receive those tickets would they allow a refund. So then I would have 6 people who wouldn’t be able to attend. I asked for a refund of all 12 tickets so I could buy tickets elsewhere, receive them immediately, and be guaranteed we would all sit together. The customer service reps refused a refund. They also refused to let me speak to a supervisor, and were rude and demeaning.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us. At Tickets-Center, we value our customers and would like to take the time to address our customer’s concerns. It should be noted that Tickets-Center is an online resale marketplace, which means we do not own or generate tickets—instead, we merely facilitate transactions between ticket buyers and ticket sellers. The top of every event and ticket listing page clearly states, “Secondary market tickets. Prices may be above face value.”
During the checkout process, customers are able to view the delivery format for their tickets. The selection our customer made was electronic transfer, where sellers transfer the tickets using the platform that the venue has issued tickets through. The customer received an email with instructions on how to access their tickets for order 48629911, as well as a separate email which contains a link to claim their tickets on 11/6/22. At this time, our customer has also received tickets for their second order 4863011 on 11/28/22, which is in time for their event. Therefore, we must abide by our “ All sales are final” policy. As such, we consider this matter resolved. If our customer has further questions on how to access their tickets, we encourage them to contact our customer service team.

On 10/26/2022 I paid $510.95 for a pair of tickets that sell for $94 when purchased from the official seller. I was duped into thinking I was buying these tickets through an official reseller because they were the top search result for what I was looking for. I have never bought ballet tickets before, so I was not familiar with what was the official way to purchase tickets. I realized shortly after buying them that in my haste I had been bamboozled. I even paid for ticket insurance that touted a refund "for any reason" if I couldn't attend the event. Learned the hard way that this was also a scam as there are a very narrow number of reasons that qualify. When I requested a refund they told me all sales were final, then referred me to the insurance company, who also gave me the runaround. I trusted that this company was legit, but learned quickly they their entire business model is to prey on the ignorance of people such as myself. All I want is a refund. Once our customer selected the ticket listing they desired for Ballet West - The Nutcracker, there they were able to see the tickets available, the Delivery Method and Expected Delivery Date (EAD). Once our customer selects the tickets they prefer, they were presented with the Delivery Method and directed to input their email address. Please note that here, customers are provided with an order summary that displays the event details, ticket location, and number of tickets the customer has selected on the right-hand side. This breakdown detailed the price per ticket, all fees, and the total charge of $510.95 in bold text prior to entering any payment information. Once our customers input their payment and billing information, they were prompted to click “Continue” and under this button it states: “Your account will not be charged yet.” Then, our customer is required to select a check box signifying their agreement to these terms stating, “I agree to the Terms & Privacy Policy. I have reviewed the Order Summary above. I understand that this site displays resale tickets and that prices may be above face value. I understand that this site is not affiliated with any box office or venue. All sales are final. There are no refunds, exchanges, or cancellations. All prices are listed in US Dollars." Below the terms, our customer’s order total breakdown is reiterated. Directly below the “Place Order” our customer was presented with the message, "By clicking 'Place Order,' your credit card will be charged $510.95 which includes ticket, service, and delivery fees" at which time our customer proceeded to place their order.
Due to the nature of our business on the secondary marketplace, Tickets-Center is not affiliated with any artist or venue and does not own inventory; instead, we act as an intermediary between customers and sellers. All prices listed on our site are done so by the individual seller, not Tickets-Center, based on their personal assessments regarding a range of factors including customer demand. Since our customers are purchasing tickets owned and listed by individual resellers, we must ensure that our policies are fair to both parties. This means that we are unable to offer refunds and must adhere to an “all sales are final” policy—a standard throughout the industry.
Prior to receiving this claim we thoroughly discussed this matter with our customer to address all of their concerns. We maintain that all order details were sufficiently displayed prior to placing their order; as such, we consider this matter closed. If our customer has any additional concerns regarding their order, we encourage them to reach out to our customer service department so that they may be addressed.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my issue. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. My complaint is that this business is 1. Price-gouging, and 2. Preying on the ignorance of buyers. Their response fails to address these complaints. Additionally, this business does not provide an actual service of any kind, e.g. "scalping". If there were no other way to easily buy tickets, their price-gouging would be the trade-off for providing hard-to-find tickets. This is not the case here. Their business models apparently depends entirely on buyers such as myself not realizing that they are being price-gouged and that the tickets can and should be purchased through the actual vendor. After realizing the mistake I had made, my request to this merchant was simply to have my money returned. This merchant never provided me with any product, so I have nothing to return. I just want my money back. Regards, Complaint ID: 18420017Business Response

Thank you for responding to us. As previously stated, neither Tickets-Center nor the seller are associated with any venue or box office. As such, the prices on our site are set by sellers and correspond to the demand of tickets. We explicitly state throughout our checkout process that prices may be above face value. Therefore, we must abide by our “All Sales Are Final” policy, which our customer agreed to prior to purchase. We appreciate our customer’s understanding.

11/12/2022 purchased two tickets at one price. When I received my bill via email it was $150 higher than the tickets. They are hiding fees. The customer service rep laughed and told me good luck getting my money back and they would hold up my refund with my credit card company for months. Total scammers. Haven't received tickets.Business Response

Yesterday I noticed a email confirmation for tickets. I did not view or purchase ANY tickets for anything. Today I realized there was money taken out of my account. I looked up the website and called the number. They confirmed tickets were purchased. I told them I did not purchase any tickets and would like the money put back into my account. They proceeded to tell me there were no signs of fraud (even though I just said I did not make this purchase) and there was nothing that could be done.Business Response

On November 13th, I tried to purchase tickets for the Nutcracker Ballet at the Hult Center in Eugene, OR. After several Google searches, the site I kept seeing was tickets-center.com. It seemed legitimate and I saw they had tickets so I went through to purchase them. It was only after purchasing the tickets and receiving an email that I was informed that I would not actual receive the tickets until later. That I could be charged more money than I paid for them. And that my party might not even sit together. And that it was a resell site. I immediately reached out to their support because something seemed off about it and I was told that I could not cancel at all even though I had just made the transaction minutes earlier. I offered to pay a cancellation fee but they said it wasn't possible. Not to mention, the ticket prices they charged me combined with their service fees was $150 more than the actual tickets I eventually found on the venue's site. This business deliberately misleads consumers to lock them into high rates without actually delivering tickets to events.Business Response

I purchased two tickets for a concert from this company. The concert was scheduled for November 18, 2022. When I received the tickets I saw that the date of the event was shown as being on May 20, 2022. I called the venue, Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, Connecticut and they informed me that the event had been previously postponed from May 20, 2022 and it had already been postponed again until May of 2023. I went back on the website for this company (Tickets-Center) and confirmed that they were still selling seats for this concert claiming it would take place on November 18, 2022. The only reason I purchased tickets from this company was that the tickets were for an event that was coming up soon and it was for my Wife's birthday. I paid roughly three times the face value of the ticket because the event was coming up so soon. I never would have purchased these tickets at any price if they had told me that the event would not be until May of next year. My wife and I will not be in CT in May of 2023 so the tickets have no value to me. I believe this company is running a criminal enterprise and should be investigated for violations of the civil (and possibly criminal) RICO statutes. I would be happy to be a witness in such an action brought by our government. I have attached a copy of the tickets they provided me which clearly show May 20, 2022 whereas the other document (the receipt) shows the claimed date of November 18, 2022. Neither date was correct at the time they sold me these tickets on October 25, 2022. This is fraud.Business Response

On October 30, I searched the internet for tickets to the Nutcracker at Sottile Theater. I purchased tickets from this site and assumed that they complied with SC law Section 16-17-710(C), which states “an event sponsored by or taking place at a venue owned by an institution of higher education may not be sold for more that $1 above face value.” This law applies to the Sottile Theater as it is part of the College of Charleston. Upon researching tickets further, I found that the tickets were sold for far above face value. In my communications with Tickets-center, they deflect from this legal issue and continually suggest that I resell the tickets. They do this while noting that their terms and conditions state that all sales are final. However, they do not mention section 16 of their terms which states “Unlawful Activity. We prohibit the use of this Website for any unlawful conduct. You agree to comply with all applicable local, state, federal and international laws, ordinances and regulations.” As mentioned, sales of these tickets for above face value is illegal. Also of note, tickets-center currently has tickets listed for 22 events at this venue. Any that are listed above face value are also in violation of SC law. I checked both Ticketmaster and StubHub and neither lists tickets for events at the Sottile Theater. It appears that those resellers are adhering to the law while tickets-center is flagrantly violating it and refusing to refund my purchase when I notify them of their illegal sales. My request is for a full refund of all charges and fees to my original method of payment.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my issue. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Good morning,It is strange that tickets-center is opting to endorse crime on their website and show more loyalty and support to ticket sellers who are committing that crime than to me, the victim of this crime. Tickets-center's response concerns their terms and conditions regarding pricing. I am not disputing that they were clear that they are a secondary market. They are not addressing my actual complaint and are instead deflecting. The issue is that sales of these tickets at a price above face value is illegal according to South Carolina law - full stop. This is because the event is at a venue owned by an educational institution. In addition to this being a crime, Tickets-center's terms and conditions state that they do not permit illegal activity on their site. They and the ticket sellers have violated this term and condition. Therefore, a full refund is due. In my original complaint, I referenced the relevant SC law, relevant sections of tickets-center's terms and conditions, and noted that stubhub and ticketmaster do not sell tickets at this venue. It is clear that this is a violation of the law.
Additionally, there is a BBB complaint dated 9/7/22 that has circumstances that are very similar to mine. In this case the person who filed the complaint purchased tickets for an event at the Providence Performing Art Center. In this case, tickets-center refunded the purchase. Why did tickets-center refund this purchase but is denying my refund when the facts of the case are nearly identical?
Thank you,

It should be noted that Tickets-Center is an online resale marketplace, which means we do not own or generate tickets—instead, we merely facilitate transactions between ticket buyers and ticket sellers. The top of every event and ticket listing page clearly states, “Secondary market tickets. Prices may be above face value”.
When placing their order our customer was required to select a check box signifying their agreement to our terms stating, “I agree to the Terms & Privacy Policy. I have reviewed the Order Summary above. I understand that this site displays resale tickets and that prices may be above face value. I understand that this site is not affiliated with any box office or venue. All sales are final. There are no refunds, exchanges, or cancellations. All prices are listed in US Dollars." Below the terms, our customer’s order total breakdown is provided. Directly below the “Place Order” button our customer was presented with the message, "By clicking 'Place Order,' your credit card will be charged $724.50 which includes ticket, service, and delivery fees" at which time our customer proceeded to place their order.
Due to the nature of our business on the secondary marketplace, Tickets-Center is not affiliated with any artist or venue and does not own inventory; instead, we act as an intermediary between customers and sellers. All tickets listed on our site are owned and priced by individual sellers based on those sellers' assessments of changing factors such as customer demand. This means the price is not based on the tickets' original price, or face value, and may be higher or lower than that original amount. As noted above, the customer placed their order fully aware that they were purchasing resale tickets and that the price paid may not be reflective of the price printed on their tickets.
We maintain that all relevant terms were sufficiently displayed prior to placing their order; as such, we consider this matter closed. If our customer has any additional concerns regarding their order, we encourage them to reach out to our customer service department so that they may be addressed.

Tickets-Center promised receipt of tickets by November 24,2022 and we did not receive by this date. I spoke to Tickets-Center and told them that I already purchased tickets directly from Fox Theatre because I never received them. Tickets-Center promised a full refund to my original credit card. My original credit card has been cancelled because I suspected fraud because poor BBB rating. Tickets-Center will attempt to process a refund and then reach out to me for an alternative refund source. Not sure I trust them to do this but will keep you informed if I do not hear from their finance group.Business Response

Thank you for responding. We appreciate the opportunity to further address our customer's concerns. On 11/28/2022 our customer's order was cancelled and refunded. At that time the refund was remitted to the original method of payment and our customer was provided a receipt for this transaction. Our records currently indicate no issues with the original refund and as such we consider this matter closed. If our customer as been unable to locate their returned funds we recommend they contact their financial institution.

This company looks like ticketmaster and I thought I was purchasing my tickets from ticketmaster. I realized immediately after I made the purchase that is was a 3rd party site and I was charged 4x the amount of the current value of the tickets that are for sale on ticketmaster. I called 3 minutes after making the purchase and asked for a refund and they won't provide one. This is a scam! I want a refund from this company. Order Number 48713110Business Response

It should be noted that Tickets-Center is an online resale marketplace, which means we do not own or generate tickets—instead, we merely facilitate transactions between ticket buyers and ticket sellers. Once our customer selected the ticket listing they desired for North American Championship Rodeo, there they were able to see the tickets available, the Delivery Method and Expected Delivery Date (EAD). Once our customer selects the tickets they prefer, they were presented with the Delivery Method and directed to input their email address. Please note that here, customers are provided with an order summary that displays the event details, ticket location, and number of tickets the customer has selected on the right-hand side. This breakdown detailed the price per ticket, all fees, and the total charge of $196.50 in bold text prior to entering any payment information. Below the terms, our customer’s order total breakdown is reiterated. Since our customers are purchasing tickets owned and listed by individual resellers, we must ensure that our policies are fair to both parties. This means that we are unable to offer refunds and must adhere to an “all sales are final” policy—a standard throughout the industry.
