In 2014 I signed up but didn't find much use for it, so after one year I decided not to renew. Now in 2023 I noticed a membership charge on my credit card. It turns out when I didn't renew by mail AAA put my account on auto-renewal without my consent and has charged about $1000 to my credit card over the years, somehow managing it even after changing my card # due to fraud! I managed to cancel my account (supposedly), but I'll never see that money again!

AAA made us wait for an hour after we call for a broken down boat trailer. First they said they would not send a tow if we were on the NJ parkway. We got the boat trailer off the parkway and called again. After keeping us on hold they told us that they don’t cover boat trailer tows. Everything is automated wit( phone prompts and when you finally get a live person they keep you on hold forever. Poor customer service and not worth keeping their insurance ????????

The member's classic level membership does not cover a boat
trailer for towing. We advised the that the boat would have to be paid
for. The member was offered to upgrade to the Plus RV membership but was informed
there would be a seven-day wait for benefits. The member canceled the service
      request.

So... I've been a member for 17 years. I think I've used their services maybe 3 times. I got a new battery installed on 12/29/22, after they came to my house on 12/28/22. The reason it took 2 days, is because the guy that came to install the new battery, pulled the old one out, and THEN decided he didn't have the correct one for my vehicle. He gave me his personal phone number, and told me to call his the next day. I thought that was weird for me to call him. I did, he did come out and put a new one in, and I think I was OVERCHARGED by a lot. He never gave me a receipt. I have been calling AAA and asking for a receipt since then, with no luck. I have been in touch with Member Services, and they are no help. I told them what I paid, and attached the quote from their website, and they have since ghosted me. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

The member was charged accurately. The battery price was $264.99, and there was a difficult install fee of $80.00 plus tax.

      Date: 02/17/2023

According to AAAs website, the battery should have cost $184.99. The technician pulled the old one, and installed the new one in less than 5 minutes. NOT A DUFFICULT INSTALL.

I had a request in for a tow which was canceled due to the car being modified and lower that the flat bed truck that came out could move, the tow driver said he put a call in for a another truck to come out. After waiting a while I called AAA to get a time and was told there were no wheel trucks available so I had to wait until the next day. Today when the truck arrived I was told I had to pay $125.00 plus the regular fees. At no time was I told about a fee other than the mileage over the 5 mile limit. Now the tow driver said AAA dozen tow modified vehicle. I am very disappointed and will take now use my insurance road side assistance when my contract ends.

On Christmas eve '22, I woke up to a dead car battery. I called AAA at 11:52a for service. I received a call at 12:03p from a tow company informing me that their would be a delay in service due to the holiday. I was very understanding and expecting of that. Called AAA 3 hrs later was told that my call would be escalated. Cool. Called about 1 1/2 later to see if I atleast had an eta, I was told a driver was otw. I call back an hr later(this is now 5hrs later) and they are not able to get the driver on the phone and to call back in 15 because he may be on the phone or with a customer. I call back at 5:36p and was told that no one was open in my area to give me a jump and if could ask a neighbor. I responded no because I'm at a motel. I was then told that oh security should be able to help me. I hung up. Why do I have to do anything of this if I paid for AAA. This is just a nightmare cut short. I was also texted false notification updated ALL thru the night, telling me my service was completed. I have screenshots. Seeking compensation. This should never happen to anyone on Christmas eve/Christmas. I had to work on 12/23. So Christmas eve was the only day I had to get everything I was missing before Christmas. I called the day after Christmas and was told I would not be able to be compensated because I received service in August.... Seriously considering legal action if I have to go beyond this complaint.

I have been a AAA Premier member for 6 years now, and recently I was very disappointed with a service call. From the time I called in to request service to the time my vehicle was actually picked up, I had to call 3 times and by then 4 hours had gone by. I would've understood if the breakdown had happened in the middle of nowhere, but I broke down near a major city. Since then, I have asked to speak to a Supervisor and every time I speak to one, I get different answers or the case gets handled differently. My annual membership was due to expire within the same month that this breakdown happened, and I was offered that this service call would not come up on my records (how convenient) or that AAA would give me a $20.00 discount towards my renewal. Another thing I recently experienced but has nothing to do with Roadside Assistance but the company itself. In the month of November, I walked into AAA Branch, I waited in line for about 30 minutes, went up to the check-in clerk and asked for DMV Services, took my name down and told me I was going to get called. It took about 20 minutes for them to call me, when I submitted my paperwork to the DMV clerk and got a quote on what I had to pay for registration renewal, I was told that I had to pay cash or check no Debit or Credit Card! So this kind of got to me, I asked the clerk why this wasn't posted anywhere or why the at the initial process the check-in clerk didn't advise, she said she didn't know, but to go to an ATM and come back and advise the check in clerk that all I had to do was pay to finalize transaction. So when I came back and spoke to the check in clerk, she had me sit down and wait for another 30 minutes, even when I told her that I had already begun the process. I think AAA needs to do some intensive re training or have guidelines to meet their advertised services. Very disappointed and frustrating incidents not sure if I can recommend them to friends and family.

If 0 stars were an option, that is what I would give AAA. After paying for a membership for several years, we bought additional memberships this year for our employees who drive our company vehicles. I told AAA representative at the time, that these were for company vehicles. The first time an employee needs tow service, I'm told they have a new policy and cannot tow lettered vehicles. This is something that would have been relevant before I JUST bought their most expensive membership. Of course since they cannot provide the service paid for, I tried to cancel for a refund. They said they are unwilling to refund ANY portion of ANY of the memberships that were paid for. The representative from customer relations (Mike) continually interrupted me and would not even let me speak since he "KNEW" what I was going to ask and was just trying to save me time. He was so unbelievably rude that I was left speechless. Save your money! Avoid AAA.

The membership benefit cannot be transferred to or used by another person. This membership is not eligible for a refund due to our refund policy.

I guess I am to assume that it is also your policy to sell memberships to consumers that you have no intention of honoring. To all other consumers reading this, please note that AAA does not even address the subject of how poorly I was treated by their customer relations representative. I am still flabbergasted by the degree of rudeness. I have no words.

This is the same "canned" response that their rep just kept repeating over and over, not even allowing me to speak. They obviously don't feel it is important to not only make their customers happy , but to even take the time to give more than a canned response.

I've been a customer off/on for over 30 years and my parents were customers for over 50 years. They used to be a good company with great service, MANY years ago! They are terrible now!

Do NOT trust AAA with the safety of your family! My 16 yr old daughter got lost in a bad area of town and then her car died. We called AAA immediately and made it clear she was in a dangerous situation and to get there ASAP! The DISGUSTING woman on the phone didn't care and wouldn't listen when I tried telling her the EXACT location/intersection my daughter was at, so the tow truck driver didn't get there for THREE HOURS!!! We live 30-35 mins from the location she was at, but it only took me 20 mins to get to her and then Metro (DC) Police arrived after me to support us until the tow truck arrived.

Needless to say, we will be leaving AAA and move our service needs to USAA. AAA completely blew it when they put my daughter at risk, DO NOT EVER USE THESE PEOPLE!!!

Management has spoken with the member and addressed the concerns. We apologized for the delay and offered to remove the call. The member was most upset with the agent for not listening to her when trying to give directions on where her daughter was broken down. Member thanked management for the call.

      I am so disappointed.
I am told that I made a mistake in my payment amount while renewing. I sent in 100.26 instead of 126.00. This was in April of 2022. According the the customer service rep I just spoke to, they mailed me a bill in June for the difference. I do not recall receiving this bill, so it was never paid. If these are my mistakes, that's totally on me. However, instead of any follow up or attempt to call me and rectify the situation, someone at AAA decided the best next step would be to remove my son from the plan without my knowledge or consent. Oddly enough, They still mailed me a card with his name on it in August. My son, who is away at college and the only reason I have this plan to begin with, called for assistance and was told there was nothing they could do. No one offered to add him back to the plan. No attempts were made to help him in any way. Despicable. I will never use your services again.

In reviewing the membership, we processed a renewal check payment for $100.26. A bill was sent to the member for the balance, but the system canceled the associate for non-payment. The credit of $24.26 was then applied as an advanced payment. We have refunded the credit of $24.26 back to the member.

The system cancelled my son? The system? That makes it sound like it was an automated decision and not a person who neglected to contact me. You certainly called me weekly when I cancelled my membership in 2014. I would expect the same courtesy before dropping someone from an existing plan. And still no apology.

We recently changed auto insurance and the new carrier provides roadside assistance similar to AAA. I had just renewed my AAA for the upcoming year, but before my renewal date. I contacted AAA to cancel my renewal days before the renewal date but they would not provide a refund. AS I had not received any services for that payment it appears to be a simple money grab by AAA. After being a member for 18 years, I expected better customer service and a modicum of common sense.

I would not suggest utilizing Mid-Atlantic AAA at all - there are many more providers of roadside assistance and all their other "features" can be easily found through Google searches or less expensive vendors.

If I could give zero or a negative rating I would.

After reviewing the membership, it shows the member paid online on 10/28. They called on 10/31 and were advised of our business rules, and a note on the account states the member then reviewed the benefits guide that shows the refund policy. We then received a chargeback on 11/19, and the membership was canceled as of 11/1.
