Good morning:
I wanted to provide feedback on my service call on 10/16/23.
Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience.
8am
My vehicle would not start, so I contacted AAA. They replied it would be about an hour.
The person came and was unable to start my vehicle. He advised me to contact AAA again and ask to be towed.
I did - was advised it would be about 2 1/2 hours. "ok", it's a wait but, it is what it is.
The time went by, I went back on the app, sent a "status" update request - no replies. So, I called. They told me it would be another hour or so. "ok", it is what it is.
That hour goes by, I contact them again, they tell me they are "working on it".
I then get a call telling me that they "can not tell me when the tow truck will arrive".
I was 37 miles from home, I had no vehicle, I had at that time waited about 6+ hours!
Finally about 3:15pm the person showed up. Towed me in, back to my hometown garage.
I have been a faithful customer, paid my bill and this is what I got. I had been going to get AAA for our daughter for Christmas, but not now.
I feel I have been treated unfairly and frankly unethically.
AAA did NOT meet my expectations at all.
I understand issues happen, but this was unfair, unprofessional and a true lack of concern for the customer.AAA Club Alliance

I have been a member of AAA for ten years, and recently, this company has gone downhill. We needed a tow, and they sent out the wrong tow truck three times, even though we explained that the car could not go into neutral. One tow truck crashed into the house, damaging the garage and side of the home, causing $ 1,500 in damages. They refused to pay and would not take our calls; AAA didn't help us. Then, when we needed AAA's help again ( time for a new car), they sent the same tow company that damaged the house. It takes forever to speak to a live person, and employees don't care or share the relevant information to get the right tow truck sent out. Get your roadside service through the car dealership.AAA Club Alliance

AAA does not take responsibility for the services they hire to fulfill your requests.
Back in March, I required a tow from my office parking lot to a nearby dealership so I could get my battery replaced (was attempting to save money and get a better warranty than that offered by AAA's battery replacement service). I called AAA to have them send me a tow truck. They used Gerber Gonzalez (Bethesda, MD), who marked my call as complete when he couldn't access my closed campus but was then resent to me when I requested a new tow. He used the metal yoke of his tow truck on my Buick Encore AWD, which he dragged for about a mile until he pulled over in the left turn lane of my building. He got out, examined the car, and then tried to scam me into paying him $80 to load my car on the dolly. I told him he could go through AAA. He then loaded my car onto the dolly, took photos of it while it was in the turn lane, got back into the cab and was really nice to me for the first time of our interaction. When he dropped me off at the dealership, I asked them to examine the car's rear because I was pretty sure he had just damaged my car. He sure did -- I needed a new rear differential because it was bent.
So I called AAA to have them handle this damage caused by the tow truck service they sent to me. Lenora Harts handled my case. Through our limited interaction, I received a confusing letter that basically said liability rests with their independent contractors. Because he took photos while we were in the turn lane, they said that was sufficient evidence he loaded it on the dolly. How can that be since my request was from a parking lot? At what point of a successful call would he have stopped in busy traffic (lanes of cars are evident in the photo) to take a photo? What is the point of having AAA if they do not take responsibility for the people they deem fit to represent AAA? I've lost all trust in AAA.AAA Club Alliance

Thank you for contacing AAA. Please see our response below.
The facility has stated that they towed the vehicle using dollies. The facility has provided pictures proving they used dollies. That is the reasoning behind the denial. As this is an independent contractor and it states in our Member Benefit Guide: AAA Liability We have contracted with independent service facilities to provide Emergency Roadside Service. AAA shall not be liable for any damage, injury or loss occasioned by or resulting from rendering, attempted rendering, or failure to provide any Emergency Roadside Service or towing service or failure thereof by an independent service facility. Independent service facilities are not agents of AAA, nor is AAA an agent for them. They are solely responsible for their actions and for any legal liability arising therefrom. AAA did not make the decision, as the liability rests with the independent contractor. We just assist with the communication between you and the independent contractor.Review fromMel D

This weekend, the battery died in our car. We called AAA for help with a jump start or a tow, whichever was needed. After waiting an hour, we got called by a tow truck in Fairbanks Alaska. Our car was in Fairfax, Virginia. We had no idea how that happened: we told told them our address and the name of the business where the car was stuck. We called AAA to provide our actual address, and an hour later, they had made no progress in finding a tow truck in our actual location. They were not trying very hard either: they only contacted three tow truck companies in that hour. They said they would reimburse us if we wanted to call a tow company on our own, but refused to tell us how much we could be reimbursed for. ($5? 10?) And when we asked to speak with a manager, they put us on hold for more than 10 minutes without connecting us to someone. At that point, we realized AAA had no interest in helping us and took care of it on our own.AAA Club Alliance

Why has cost increased while goods and services have plummeted!!! I called to have my vehicle towed to a service location at 7:27 pm. I was told that someone would arrive at 10:54….STRIKE 1. A tow truck driver called me about 30 minutes later asking what was wrong with the car and if it was driveable. I said no. His response was “F@ck AAA,” I’ll call you back. He never did. STRIKE 2. At 11:00 pm I called customer service again and was told that “his truck broke down.” No one from AAA ever called or texted to inform me that no one was coming. STRIKE 3! Another driver was assigned and was to arrive in an hour. I called back at 1:30 a.m. only to find out that the 2nd driver decided not to show. Do you all comprehend that people are expecting assistance and depending upon drivers to show up? What is the benefit of paying for a premier membership? Are these contractors or employees? At this point, I’m over AAA. The quality of care and concern is gone, and so am I! If I could select zero as a rating I most definitely would.AAA Club Alliance

I am more than disappointed in AAA's customer service support, providing inaccurate store and service information and the inability to address these issues, including reaching a human at more remaining distant branches. They also disconnected calls after representatives were unable to reach those who were supposed to be able to address the issues. I am further appalled by their lack of humanity. Please be considerate and act like a company that would like customers. What happened to the old AAA?AAA Club Alliance

I purchased aaa premier rv coverage in addition to my existing premier car coverage, over a year ago. I have paid for two years. In those two years I have called five times for a tow. The first four times they left me completely stranded. 1) they left us (w/ kids) stranded on a busy highway for two days. 2) they left us on a remote mountain top with no cell service- 3 days. 3) they left us in the middle of the desert in Joshua tree for a WEEK. Each of those times I ended up finding my own tow and getting towed out. Aaa never made any attempt to resolve or repay. Today, they tried to charge me $500 to tow me less than a mile to the mechanic because they couldn’t find a nearby service provider who will work with them, so they claimed the total to tow me less than a mile is $1000. When I called the closest service providers to find out why, they all said they refuse to work with aaa because they don’t pay their bills. Aaa expected me to foot the $500 bill due to their negligence and scammy behavior with members and providers, which they say made the total cost $1000 to tow me less than a mile on flat road. This is a clear breach of contract and they continue to leave us in dangerous situations by not providing the service I pay for. If they don’t have providers to tow motorhomes (in four different states), they shouldn’t sell rv roadside assistance. I know that they have been sued for this many times already by both members and tow companies.AAA Club Alliance

AAA is terrible! I became a legal guardian to a young man who is 17 years old whose mom had passed away. This young man blew a tire and when we tried to raise the car to change the tire, the jack was broken. Then we realized his mom had a AAA account. So, we called AAA who refused to send someone to help change the tire because we were not talking to his mom. When I explained his mom had passed they said, "Well, Jackson can apply for a membership now." AAA had no compassion and no concern for our well-being. All they care about is taking advantage of orphans. Shame on you AAA!AAA Club Alliance

We are sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory experience with AAA and equally as sorry for your loss. AAA service follows the member, and not the vehicle and is available only to the person named on the membership card, who is the driver of or a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the covered breakdown. To receive Emergency Roadside Service, the AAA Member must present the membership card to the service provider upon arrival. A driver’s license or other form of matching photo identification is also required. Memberships are not transferable and membership service is not provided to nonmembers. Members cannot transfer their membership or any service call to any other person. Other Members of the household who want Emergency Roadside Service must have their own membership cards, in their own names, to obtain service.
When notified that a Member has passed, AAA can either cancel the membership and process any eligible refunds or switch the primary to another associate on the account. In order for a member of our team to contact you regarding this matter, please provide the membership number relating to this incident as well as a contact number and we will be happy to assist further.
