Do not use this company ever! I booked and prepaid for a car online with a debit visa and was told at the airport counter I couldn’t rent a car. You can book an airline ticket with a debit visa but not a car? So I was told to contact customer care. I tried for 3 days to get through. Finally after 40 minutes, i was assured by the customer care department that I would receive a credit. I was told that the credit was issued May 5. It is now July and no credit. You can only reach them by email and they keep stating “a credit has been issued; kindly check with your bank.” Customer Service does not exist with this poor excuse of a company. Save yourself the headache!

Thrifty/Hertz Rental is a dishonest scammer. We rented a car and paid for insurance coverage for the trip. The car rental agent at the ****************** told us that the insurance will cover all damages incurred during the duration of our trip. Unfortunately, we did incur a damage to the windshield of the car we rented so I (primary driver) filed for a claim. An Agent from ***** *********** contacted me and said that we owe $1029.00 for the windshield damage. I told them that we purchased insurance coverage but was told that our insurance did not cover for windshield damages and that I needed to have purchased a separate insurance for that. I told them that there was no mention of an additional insurance for windshield damages when we (myself + additional driver) signed our rental agreement. We were simply told that the insurance we purchased will cover all damages to the car, " that we will be able to simply walk away with that insurance should we incur any damages on the car." What was worse was that Thrifty Rental Car dropped our insurance coverage when we filed for our claim. This was done without us knowing it. We were under the impression that we were covered all along. I have copies of both the original and altered documents. This was a horrible experience. There's not a Customer Relations Agent one can talk to at Thrifty or Hertz ( we were told that Hertz owns Thrifty Rental) so we were left to contend with an automated Robot machine. Only time I heard from this company was when their Claims Agent asked me to pay for the damages. This is such a horrible, disgusting experience. Adding insult to injury, only recourse left for us is to write a bad review! Outrageous!!!

Terrible. Made a reservation via Priceline, and Thrifty changed the terms of the rental so they may charge more. Avoid this company !

My experience with Thrifty has been incredibly frustrating. They billed me for a cancelled reservation and have continued to be impossible to reach/incredibly evasive about refunding this charge. When I finally received an email reply about the erroneous charge, Thrifty told me to go to my credit card company to have the charge reversed. Then Thrifty proceeded to dispute my dispute.I have never interacted with a company with such blatant disdain for their customers. Even their hold music is one song on repeat with a man seemingly screaming - This would normally make me laugh if it weren't so infuriating and I hadn't now listened to it for over 2 hours.

Worst car rental experience, hands down. Cars not available when promised. Hours long waits to get your vehicle, even when you are told you can "SKIP THE LINES" when you file all paperwork and ID check online before arrival. Only vehicles readily available are TINY Chevy Bolt electric vehicles. Terrible service and business model.

Definitely do not use Thrifty...they will scam you with hidden charges and it is impossible to speak to a representative live. We filled up fuel tank and we're still charged a fuel charge plus a $200 deductible that we never saw returned. Also, are final bill showed we drove over 2000 miles, however we never left Naples, FL and only had car for three days.

We rented a car from Thrifty Nashville airport It was Expedia.ca cost quoted is cdn$ 559.04 When we went to pick up car they told us that they could not find the Expedia ca booking and gave us a car for 10 days for US $ 713.00 My husband accepted it as he was confused thinking Initial 559 was UsS$ and the equivalent cdn$ is 713.0 and signed the paper since then we went to airport rental and pointed out the mistake they said to call customer service as the car is given out since then we have got the run around This saga has cost us cdn$440 extra as they charged us on our credit card Cdn$1003.00 Please do not rent from Thrifty if you do please check every line before you sign the contract make sure you are getting the same rate as quoted by a secondary site in this case Expedia.ca whom we contacted they said they can not help us to talk to Thrifty

This company is literally scamming people out of their money. They add charges to your visa without your consent. They told us to initial a paper to decline the charges at the pick up time but we were told after dropping the vehicle back if you initial you are accepting the charges. They have been extremely hard to get in touch with. They charged us for gas even though we filled the gas tank when we dropped it off. They just said that is the policy. Can no one help all of us customers from being scammed for extra charges after using this company?? Their policy are disgraceful.

PHX: Arrived at the Thrifty rental facility at the appointed time on 27 APR 24, with a reservation. Went down the escalator to pick up the car and found 50 - 100 (a rowdy crowd!) people waiting for cars that weren't there. Impossible to penetrate to the door leading to the cars! I have used this company for decades, all over the U.S. and would expect them to text me or email me if there's a problem. For this reason, I've ceased doing business with this company and am now booking through another car rental agency as this is the second time I've had this happen with Thrifty. Just wanted to alert others who may be considering using Thrifty Rental Cars. Have a backup plan as a last minute rental elsewhere will cost you hundreds more as it did me.

Lots of extra charges and no way to talk to anyone about them. Never again with this rip off outfit.
