We landed at 330 pm in Myrtle beach and thrifty canceled our reservation without telling us leaving us stranded at the airport saying no cars were available and same day rental wasn’t an option . So what did y hey do with our car that was reserved for today? Both representatives I spoke to were nasty and could care less leaving my husband and children without a car at the airport with no solution . I will never ever give them my business and will let my entire following from my businesses that own know this as well. The manager was “unavailable “ to speak to us as well .

Thrifty employs manipulative tactics in order gouge customers by adding an extra $250 to their bill for insurance coverage while withholding the information they were doing so. After waiting over an hour in line to rent a car from Thrifty, I had high hopes that I would be met with a professional and helpful representative of the company to guide me through the process. I was disappointed to find that the level of professionalism behind the counter was lacking, and the tactics used, downright manipulative. I booked the car through a third party, (priceline) where I denied any additional insurance coverage. Thrifty's representative did not state, at any point in time, that there would be coverage added to the agreement and as I had been waiting in line for over an hour to rent the car due to the short number of employees working at the counter, I was eager to end the process and be on my way. The company also purposefully words their agreements in a confusing manner and makes them long to deter you from reading the fine print. In fact, the employee was uncommunicative and was either taught to employ poor and unethical business practices, or either lacked, or even failed to adhere to their training as the agreement was presented already scrolled to the bottom, awaiting a signature. It was a very similar situation when I returned the vehicle. The wait was long, with only two employees working behind the counter, and the communication was unclear. It was only when I checked my receipt on my way home that I had any idea the amount I was ultimately charged. What may seem like a small sum of $250 to a large corporation like Hertz, is a large sum to a middle class family. Do not rent with them.

Charged over $700 for a 5 day rental. I declined protection and was never asked about roadside assistance (I would have declined - I have AAA) but was charged $350 for both

Thrifty is AWFUL. Not only was the customer service some of the rudest I've ever encountered (*************, *******, **), but they overcharged me for returning my car late, when in actuality it was on time (I have proof!) but because they were not open yet they did not check in the car until they opened 3 hours later. I have contacted the company through their website three times, with no response (the website states a response will be given within 72 hours). This company should not exist for it is dishonest and disreputable. They need to refund what they overcharged me.

Thrifty Car Rental ********* March 2024 Throughout the process of confirming my reservation and picking up my rental, Thrifty treated me as if I were a criminal, even though I am a "Blue Chip" member. Months before, I updated my credit card details online on my profile. The day before the rental, Thrifty sent me an email that I had to "check-in" 15 minutes before the rental pick-up time or it would expire. What? I went through the entire process.... take a picture of the front of your license, take a picture of the back of your license, take a picture of yourself. What would have happened if I did not own a smart phone? When Thrifty confirmed the check-in, I noticed that the last four digits of my credit card number did not match my profile. So, I called Thrifty customer service and the agent manually updated the reservation and assured me there would not be any problem. Well guess what. When I arrived at the ********* car rental facility, my name appeared on the *************** with the alert that I needed to go to the counter. What!! The agent even had to call the credit card company to verify funds while I waited. I was surprised they did not fingerprint me. I was furious. In spite of all my efforts to double check and triple check the details of my reservation, I was still forced back to the counter wasting valuable time. Also, Thrifty charged me more than stated for the Vehicle Recovery Fee. Another insult. I submitted a survey to them but they never responded.

I rented a car in ****** at 10:30 on a Saturday night. I have a chronic illness, I was traveling alone and I was at the end of my rope and ability to continue. I made a reservation I with Thrifty through ********* airlines website. The total was just shy of ******. When I got there they told me they don't own the car that I reserved or anything like it anymore and the only way I could have that size vehicle was to take a fully electric car that I had to bring back charged. What??? I'm in a strange city, I don't know how to operate an electric car, where to charge an electric car, how long it takes to charge one, how much it costs or have an extra minute to figure it out. I said "that won't work". They said well then we can upgrade you to a gas vehicle at your expense. Again WHAT?? My 3 day plainest car in the world rental turned into a 266 dollar ordeal. When I asked for a supervisor I was told there was not one. When I wrote to customer service they sent me a copy of the contract I signed under absolute duress because I could not be stranded on the verge of serious medical issues in ******. I have since learned this is a common bait and switch tactic employed by Thrifty.

Absolutely the worse company to deal with. They deceive consumers, upcharge and then you have no option to talk to a live person to get it corrected.

Thrifty Car Rental doesnt deserve any stars. They are a joke. I booked a car two months in advance and they didnt have a car available when I got there. There were people that had been waiting for 2 hours for a vehicle when we got there. We ended up having to pay almost $400 to rent from someplace else on short notice.

Arrived at 1:30, to a line of about 100 people, thats barely moved now at 2:30. There were four people at the desk, and now there are only 2. If you cannot staff the desk appropriately, use either technology or hire appropriately as this is worse than the line at **********. All the reviews indicate this isnt an isolated incident so Thrifty does not care about the client experience.

I reserved the wildcard special. Nowhere in the description did it state that the special could be an EV. When I got to the counter I was told it was EV and to get a gas car I had to upgrade. Totally misleading advertising and the agent could not have cared any less about trying to find a solution that would suit me. Will never rent with thrifty or the Hertz line. Their follow up customer service response was as bad as the desk agents response.
