On Feb. 14,2024 we made a trip to **. for a family emergency. Got into ******* and took us 2 hours to get the car. Only 2 people at the desk and about 50 people all waiting.. We returned the car on Feb. 21 at the airport. We filled the tank 15 miles from the airport. 3 weeks later we get a letter stating that they charged us a 'fueling charge' for 12.1 gallons of gas and at a cost of $141.00. Had to send them a copy of the fuel receipt and 3 weeks later they credit the credit card. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!! If you do, save your receipts and all paperwork for a good 3 months after your rental. If we didn't have the receipt for the fueling, we would have been screwed out of $141.00!!! Simply a horrible experience. Wipers were shot as well. I honestly think they do this to many people and hope they don't have the receipt and get away with the charge.

      - Bait and Switch - Thrifty Car Rentals I reserved a small SUV, a ****** Rouge from Thrifty car rental at the ************************************* in *********. Based on the price. It seemed to be the most competitive deal for the money. When we got to the airport the lady greeted us and asked me for my reservation details. I gave them to her she then said thanks and asked me for my credit card and DL which i gave her. The then told me that there was going to be an hour wait for my vehicle but she could upgrade me. Ok great. Is that a free upgrade? Nope. An extra $175 usd. I said thats not good and after mulling our options decided to wait. Now the wait was 1.5 hours 2 minutes later. I asked if she could downgrade me. She couldnt and I told her that we would wait. She then said the vehicle was not available. I asked if i could take the more expensive option for one night and pick up the original one tomorrow. She said no problem. Then a another person from Thrifty came up when we were doing the contract and said i had to take the more expensive vehicle for the full 5 days that we needed it. No discounts. This is a bait and switch scam. They were lying to me the whole time. If they had have contacted me with this information earlier I could have made alternate arrangements. I have sent them a complain on their website complaint section. So far I have heard nothing from them. Needless to say. I am angry. I dont recommend anyone use their business .

Thirty car rental within the past month overcharged me twice when I returned the car. I bring it to their attention through their website and they never fix it. I end up disputing with my credit card company. I ********** for the first rental and now Im disputing it with my credit card company again. Thrifty has made it very hard to actually talk to someone. Im one of their Blue Chip Rewards customers. I guess that doesnt mean anything. I think their customer service has a lot to be desired. They dont let you know they have received your dispute or working on it. However they have no problem charging your credit card. Ill start using their competitors.

I rented a car through Expedia at the Thrifty location at ***************************** for an 8am pickup Friday March 29. The car was not ready for me and I was told one would not be available for at least two hours. This was a big problem since I had to return the car by 5pm that same day and had a trip planned that required the full day, and the car could not be returned after hours. ****, who said he was the manager, said that I just had to 'deal with it,' but then offered to waive my fee for dropping the car off at the airport--which was then required of me, because of the 2-hour delay and my flight that evening. When I returned, I was stunned to see that **** had doubled the price on me, because "the reservation changed." When I showed him the receipt I had for the $62.88 rental, rather than the $120 rental he was charging me, he tole me to take it or leave it: then, when I expressed my concern, told me "Forget it, I'm not renting you a car at all--even though with 2 small children in tow, this was basically holding me hostage." Because I had restless children with me, it was pouring rain and there was no alternative at that late hour, I had to accept the $120 rental (and an electric car, which I did NOT want, because I did NOT have time to charge it--and so incurred a $35 charge fee on top of that, for a total rental cost of ~$150 rather than the $62 of the car I had booked). **** and ******, the other individual there, were both rude to me and delayed processing my reservation for another 15 minutes, cutting into my day plans further. This was a terrible experience with unprofessional staff at an inconvenient location. I request compensation and/or full refund.

Rented a car from Thrifty Car rental 3/17/24 @ JFK, weekly rate for the very small car came to $296.38, I returned the car 4 days earlier, mind you the daily rate is $27.99. I chose the cheapest car. They charged me $733.37, charging me $142.42 per day for the small car that should have cost $296.38 for the week. The car is the smallest and the cheapest they had on the lot at the time. Thrifty does not have a vehicle that they charge daily rate at that price. I have reached out to them so many time to no avail. (They do not give you a receipt when you return the car, they send it via email within an hour. If I had received the email before I left, I would not have taken the SUV car). I had taken an SUV, the day I returned the small car for the other 3 days. When I returned the SUV, I went back to the counter to show them the mistake with the previous vehicle, they gave me a number to call, which I have been calling 3 days prior. They have been of no help. I am going further with this. The SUV cost me $297.25 for 3 days. Disgusting!!

Zero stars. DO NOT RENT from them. You will receive a car that has problems followed by no help for those problems.

I ALSO agree, and will go to the ends of the Earth to make sure EVERYONE knows what a SCAM Thrifty is!!! Upon arriving for my rental ("Manager's Special"), the attendant took my credit card and ID for a ********************** that I reserved, checked in via text the day prior, ALL at $169... He ('***' at ****************) handed me back my card and a receipt for $536. I ADDED NOTHING... He said the online reservation (THROUGH Thrifty Car Rental 's website, NO THIRD PARTY) was "just an estimate".... So, my car went from $169 to $536???? Yup! BUYER BEWARE!!!! When I questioned ***, he became so upset, he ripped my receipt out of my hand, told me he is refusing to rent to me, and now three days later, they still have a hold on my card. Refused to let me speak to a manager, refused to tell me a manager's name, took my name and number and said they would call me.... NOTHING. This company is nothing but CROOKS!

DO NOT RENT FROM THRIFTY. I rented from the ************, ** airport location and had the car less than 36 hours. I visited a friend who has a dog one time, and there was a small amount of dog hair in the back seat which came from my son's shorts after playing with the dog. Otherwise the interior of the vehicle was immaculate. No trash left in the car, no food eaten in the car. They charged me a $75 cleaning fee and they would not remove the fee after multiple requests. There was no mention in the rental agreement about a cleaning fee!!
