I was automatically enrolled in Loss Dmg Wvr and LIS without being asked/ told it was additional. I had already paid for my rental through *********** online. When I was charged at pick up, I was told that everything going on my card would be refunded once I turn back in. However now looking at my receipt I see that these were additional charges added and I will not be getting that back as part of the hold. I even asked the service person because a $481 charge seemed like a large hold and he never once explained the additional charge. He said I would get the hold back. I have seen on threads that this is a common scam they are running. This is absolutely shameful to take advantage of your customer by blatantly withholding information. Forget trying to get ahold of a real person to report the problem. Ive been trying for 4 hours just a runaround of phone options.

DO NOT RENT FROM THRIFTY OR DOLLAR. We reserved a car from thrifty for 5 days in *****. I waited 30 minutes at 1 am in a lobby for paperwork. Then we were instructed to go to the garage where 50 other customers were waiting for 2 or more hours to only be told no cars were available. There literally was one woman staffer writing down names on a piece of paper and shouting them out if a car arrived. Meanwhile 5 other employees were useless, including a manager who did nothing. Thrifty/Dollar/Hertz's business model is to overbook and overcharge. We cancelled our car and were not given a voided contract. We then complained to corporate and got a form letter as a response. Do. Not. Rent. From. Thrifty.

I was charged for the Loss Damage Waver that we didn't want. We told the agent that assisted us at the counter that we had comprehensive auto insurance and did not need the Loss Damage Waver. It was late at night and the agent showed me where to initial to deny coverage. However, it still showed up on my bill and more than doubled the costs. Upon calling the company after my return home, they responded, so sorry you signed the contract and we can not give you any credit back. I paid for the agents fraudulent and predatory behavior and I'll never rent from Thrifty Car Rentals again.

They were cheap and I guess I got what I paid for - I had an absolutely horrible experience renting from Thrifty Car Rental at Ontario Airport. They lost my reservation when I came to pick up the car so it took a lot of extra time at the counter. The car I was given was crappy!!! I did not feel safe driving it and it was actually scary to drive in the rain. The steering wheel had a piece missing out of it. When I got to the car the headlights were left on, but I opted to keep the car because it started, and it was pouring down rain and it was a long way back to the office. I no longer needed the rental and had a week left on my reservation. I sat on hold for 20 minutes to inquire if I could return it early and I was told that I would be charged additional money to turn it in early. Save yourself the headaches and rent from a different rental company!!!

I wish I could give negative rating to Thrifty. They are the THEIVES! PAID $56.64 MORE THAN WHAT WAS SHOWN DURING BOOKING. We booked through Thrifty for one day and paid $39.93 at the time of reservation and was due $19.6 at time of rental. We extended the rental for one more day and paid &16.71 and was due $59.76 at time of rental. So total was $136. But they charged us $136,$39.93 and $16.71 which would be total of $192.64. I called customer service and said that they told me that $56.64 was tax but how can they overcharge me $56.64 when on receipt it is shown $136 and when reserving, it is shown that total would be of $136? Can someone SUE THRIFTY for overcharging than what was shown during reservation and claim later that it was tax? DO NOT BOOK FROM THRIFTY

I joined the blue chip program because your advertisement said that I could avoid the counter if I did. When I got to the car rental desk, I waited 1/2 hour to speak to 1 of 2 agents who were handling both thrifty and Hertz rentals. The ad said if I was a blue chip member I could advance to the blue chip line. No such thing. It was a lie. When I asked the attendant about it he said " oh, they dropped that during Covid and it never came back." He completed the process and sent me upstairs where I presented my rental jacket to the rudest rental agent I ever met. He attempted to give me a ***** subcompact when I had rented a midsized car. He said I needed to wait and the car would be there when it got there. We waited in the cold for another 1/2 hour when the agent left the booth and went downstairs to retrieve my car. He bought it up, yelled ny last name and left the car running with my rental jacket on the front seat. Rudest customer service rep I've ever met. Well , so much for being a "blue chip" member. I don't believe I will ever rent from Thrifty again. I'll go back to Hertz where you can get expedited rentals by being a gold member and know more about customer service and how to speak to customers.

On December 6, I booked a Thrifty rental car with for $202.40 CAD through EconomyBookings.com When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the rental agent was deliberately misleading about the cost. I had previously paid the $202.40 CAD ($145.21 USD) when I booked the car online and I explicitly stated to the agent that I did not want to pay for any additional costs that were not required. He said "no problem" and then asked if I preferred Thrifty to fill up the tank for me when I returned the car and said that the cost per gallon was about the same as the gas stations near the airport. I said OK. What he didn’t say is that this service cost $87.38! I also ended up returning it full and didn't need them to fill it up but was still charged. I was also charged for “Premium Emergency Roadside Service” which I didn’t not ask for AND “Liability Insurance Supplement” which is not required and I was covered by my Visa credit card. He then showed me the TOTAL cost for the rental was $224.77 USD which I thought made sense because I had already paid $145.21 USD so I thought the additional charges was $79.56 USD. This was not the total charge, it was $224.77 USD was ON TOP of the booking fee of $145.21 I already paid, making it more than twice as expensive. The rental agent knew exactly what he was doing and deliberately misled me about the costs and the total cost was about 2.5 times more than what I thought I was paying when I booked it. I understand I signed the agreement but I was told this was the total charge and I certainly didn’t not authorize the additional charges that were not required. This branch has absolutely terrible reviews online of travellers getting ripped off in the same way.

I would like to give Thrifty/Hertz ZERO stars. My family and I were in **** at the airport and was asked if I wanted to prepay for fuel. I told the attendant no I will fill it up myself. The attendant then informed me no big deal if you bring it back full we will automatically refund you for the fuel prepayI clarified and she again informed me the same thing. I typically dont purchase this but in the past with 2 small kids I didnt have time to fill up and got hit with a charge. I thought this option would be a good insurance policy just in case. After returning the vehicle full of fuel I pulled 2 employees aside to show the full tank too. I asked when the refund would process and the lady told the refund should come out automatically within a day or two and I was good to go. A few days later my recipes showed the fuel charge still. I then emailed the help desk and a representative with a ***** email contacted me and essentially informed me that I misunderstood the prepay fuel and that customers who purchase this option should being the vehicle back as empty as possible. I will not be using Hertz or Thrifty car rentals again. They are straight up lying to customers. Fuel prepay was $131.53.

DO NOT rent from Thrifty. I rented a car through a third-party site and was charged $164 on top of my rental in order to get the car I expected. I was promised a Jeep "or similar". When I arrived in Utah, it was snowing and they told me that the "similar" car was a 2WD car. What a joke. In order to "upgrade" to a Ford Edge, a car that in my opinion is less performant that a Jeep, I was going to have to pay an upgrade fee which doubled the cost of my rental.
