I reserved a last minute rental on February 1, 2024 with a return on February 3, 2024. I opted for the mystery pick and got an EV. ?The customer service professional stated anything over 70% is considered a full charge. She also stated not to charge the car to 100% because it has a negative impact on the battery life. The car was set to not charge more than 90% when I received it. Prior to returning the rental. I charged the car to 90% (max setting) and drove it directly to the airport. The car had 78% remaining at drop off. This was more than 70% charge. I received my final bill and had a $35 EV battery charging fee. I submitted a ticket questioning the charge and the operation’s manager replied stating the car was to be returned 5% from the level it was received. I received the car at 100% so the return level was 95% to avoid EV battery recharge fee. That was not conveyed to me at pick up. Secondly how could I return the car at 95% if the max charge was set to 90% because Thrifty doesn’t want their EV cars charged to 100% because it can shorten the life of the battery. I was definitely mislead and it cost me financially. The customer service professional provided the wrong information. In addition, the EV battery charge fee is automatic based on how Thrifty provides the car (fully charged) and limits the customer’s charge to 90%. Very questionable practices. I will not patronize Thrifty In the future..

The worst car rental company. The reviews say it all and I don't know why I did not head the warnings. In a nutshell, I left with one quoted price on my rental agreement and low and behold I had a $230 difference at the end of my rental. I was 29 minutes late in returning my vehicle but instead of charging me a late fee or and extra day at $19.99 (LIKE THEIR AGREEMENT STATES), they completely changed my rental agreement and charged me a completely different price. The agreement that we must all sign specifically states that all claims must be solved by arbitration and that no class action law suits are allowed. Why? because they would be out of business if all the thousands of customers they have swindled came together and slapped them with the sue they deserve. DO NOT RENT HERE, Dollar or Hertz which are all owned by Hertz. You will be sorry.

I pre-paid $231 for a rental through my Capital One Visa points program. I was never presented with an option to decline insurance by the agent in Sarasota. The option I selected was "Basic", because there was not a "No Coverage" option provided. No charges were ever explained or provided, so I assumed that I would not be charged any additional fees. I received a bill for $257 for insurance coverage after I returned the car. This is fraud. I've submitted multiple complaints to Thrifty and they insist that I pay the additional charges. This is a very deceptive business practice. If you read through reviews, this is common for them.

SCAMMERS DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! If I couldve given them 0 stars I would. They are complete crooks and their business practices should be illegal. I reserved a vehicle for pick up through a third party, when I arrived at the airport the service rep advised they did not have the size I reserved available. However instead of the intermediate size they did have a lot of full size vehicles available for only a few dollars more. The keypad on the screen does not show any prices for anything you are signing, snd they verbally tell you a price in which you agree on. When I received the paperwork after returning the vehicle after the 3 day rental, they charged $120 for an upgrade fee which is more than what the total rental amount was supposed to be to begin with. In addition they also charged additional fees from what I was originally quoted, the price ended up being 2 1/2 times the amount. Contacted customer support and absolutely nothing was done.

I rented a car in ******* from **************** in January 2023 from Thrify Car Rental at ****************. The car did not function properly at all; the touch screen function on the radio did not work at all, the car wobbled when accelerating to higher speeds, and service lights came on throughout our time having the car denoting that service was needed (oil change, tune up needed, etc). We are requesting some sort of refund for this subpar rental considering the amount of money that was spent. I need to be reached immediately regarding this situation. Thank you.

On January 23, ****, I travelled to ****** from *******, ** for a business trip and booked a rental from Thrifty a few days in advance. Upon arrival at ~7PM, I was processed for the rental and directed to the garage. Upon arrival, I saw a group of individuals waiting for a car. When I approached the plexiglass window, an individual told me that there were "no cars" available. Subsequently, I was informed that the wait would be about 15 minutes. An hour later, and several "15-minute wait" comments in 32 degree weather, the group of people waiting on cars grew to a mass of ***** individuals. One lady I spoke with had been waiting for roughly 1.5 hours. Interestingly, I noticed a garage full of EV's. I was repeatedly told I could take an EV; however, with an hour drive in cold weather, I was concerned about driving range and the ability to find a charging station. As a former frost-bite patient as a U.S. Army combat arms officer, I was experiencing some acute cold-weather symptoms, I returned to the front desk and asked to void my contract, spend the night in the airport, and try renting a gas powered vehicle in the morning. Finally, the agent agreed to walk with me to the garage and pointed out a minivan I could take. I immediately offered that vehicle to the woman who had waited for well over an hour. The rental agent looked shocked I would do that. I was then offered a pick-up truck. These vehicles had been parked on the premises the entire time as far as I could tell. No entry or exit.As I drove away, finally, after about 1.5 hours, I was most shocked by the cavalier attitude of the individuals in the heated rental cube in the garage who seemed to thing the entire experience of customers sucking up the cold weather was inconsequential and seemed indifferent to customer inquires about their place in the rental sequence. ***************************-this is leadership negligence or ignorance. I would be ashamed at the lack of accountability and service.

To whom it may concern:I would like to make a formal complaint against Thrifty Rental for fraudulent business practices, specifically towards my elderly parents in this instance. Upon arrival at ***************************, the associate at the rental counter immediately asked my parents, in their 70s, if they had ever rented a car before. Upon hearing no, the associate added insurance and a fuel package to their order. My parents requested the insurance and fuel be removed due to having sufficient personal insurance and the desire to refuel the vehicle themselves. The associate told my parents the insurance was, required by ******* state law. She further stated it was required by the state they purchase a minimum of two million dollars. Furthermore, my parents were also told ****** would not work with insurance companies to receive payment. All three are untrue. I spoke up and explained I had rented a car there many times and had never been forced to purchase a policy and had never heard of said law. The associate refused to answer me and stated the reservation was not in my name. She continued to tell my parents they must sign for the insurance or they could not have the vehicle. Next, my parents were also told they needed to sign for the gas package because gas was $5.11 per gallon outside of the airport. I again spoke up and stated this was also not true, but I was again refused a conversation. My parents inquired about canceling and were told they would not be refunded their money. My parents were left with being forced to sign a contract, being stranded, or losing their money. Upon researching, it appears this is a very common practice for Thrifty at the ******* and ***** airports. While I understand customers are signing contracts, I believe it is being done fraudulently and deceitfully (specifically towards the elderly). We have tried to discuss this with several people at Thrifty with no success. Thank you.

Rented a car at ***** and we declined the loss damage waiver. The thrifty representative slipped it in anyway and told us that it was a deposit that would be returned when the car was. We were tired after 18 hours or flights and connections so we just signed making the mistake of thinking we were working with a reputable company. Now we are being told that we signed so we have no recourse. They straight up scammed us out of $209. We will never use thrifty again. I would recommend no one use them either.

There was a row on electric cars and 1 KIA ***** The sole was so filthy and had of a tank of gas. I went back to the booth and this same guy said to me. Just stand there and later today there should be a gas car come in and you can have that. I walked over to my wife and told her what he said, and she was furious.
