1 starIf I could give a negative star I would. So the Agent at the **********, ** Airport where I was picking the car up at. Charged me for premium roadside service which I didn't need because I have AAA and my personal insurance. He didn't even ask and when he was talking about the insurance I had told him I had insurance. So once he quoted me the price I thought it was high but I figure taxes and all the other **** they charge. So once I got to where I was going I started looking at the charges and that is when I found out what he did. Like other people has post, nothing but a lot of run around when you call. I called that night Dec. 19th, the agent said to call the next day. I called the next day Dec 20th and the agent was like you need to take that up with them at the airport when you return the car. So return the car today. December 22, 2023. The lady informed me I should of taken care of that 10 mins after receiving the car. I said I did not know he applied that or I would of I thought it was taxes. So get back home today. Called to talk to someone and he had a nasty attitude to say I signed for it. I said fine but he did not ask me if I wanted the roadside service, but I will eat it. But as we are talking I checked my email they sent me another receipt trying to charge me $373.52. When it was only supposed to be ******. Here is the kicker where the other charges is coming from they are saying I return it 5:17pm I was on my flight back home I returned it at 8:15am. My flight left at 10:10am so how can I return it at 5:17. Try to let the agent know that is where the other charges came from which is wrong. But he hung up on me. So this will be my last time renting from Thrifty. Horrible customer service they do not have a number you can really talk to and no supervisor either because I called back and wanted to report him for hanging up on me.Review fromlen y

1 starwould not accept a valid bc driver's license, hence they would not refund our money. extremely rude and condescending to myself and my pregnant wife, leaving us out in the cold in the middle of the night. probably the worst business interaction I have ever had, this business scammed us. I hope this serves as a warning to other foreigners to stay away at all costs.Review fromJohn D

1 starDeceptively added additional insurance at the register, more than doubled the cost of our rental stating that it would be close to 50 dollars but failed to mention that it would be a daily charge, all while we had already paid through Expedia for insurance. Used the hold on card to disguise charges when I asked why it was so high, and that money would be returned.Review fromChristopher S

1 starMy wife rented a car for a trip in Nashville. There was one person working the counter and it was very crowded. A charge showed up for $355 and I immediately called my wife to see what we were getting billed for. I was able to figure out it was for the deposit and liability insurance, which we don't need because our personal insurance covers this. So....I called IMMEDIATELY to resolve the charge. After 4 different phone numbers, I spoke to a representative that stated the best way to do that is to go back to the desk, BUT if my wife could not get back to the desk to call back 24 hours after the rental to get resolution. I have been on the phone for an hour with 4 people and am being told that it MIGHT be credited back. The people I spoke to today say the person I spoke to on Friday did not leave the documentation (which I was told was being put into the system) and that the only way to get it resolved was to talk the branch where the rental was made. I reached out to them and get REROUTED to the call center EVERY TIME. The call center put me in touch with the airport, and their operator CONFIRMED the branch DOES NOT HAVE A DIRECT PHONE. SO now I am waiting to see if my charge *** or *** not get authorization to correct EVEN AFTER I WAS TOLD IT WOULD AND TO HANDLE IT THIS WAY.Review fromShannon S

1 starDo not rent from them! They charged me for additional insurance even though I specifically said I do not need it or want it. There was no review of the paperwork prior to signing the electronic pad. They charged for the insurance and will not refund my money. Took over 2 hours to get the car at the airport. The car was filthy inside. Very unethical to charge someone for something and then say that I signed the contract! Well I didn't approve the additional charges. Unreal.Review fromMatt P

1 starWhile I was initially happy to find an affordable rental at the last minute, this turned out to be an awful experience. This location is absolutely full of thieves who like to trick people into extra fees. At the time of reservation on December 11, 2023, I denied all extra coverage on the vehicle since I have my own insurance. I paid the rental fees ahead of time on Priceline, then I paid what I thought was a deposit at the time of of pick-up. Apparently they 'added' the damage waiver back onto my reservation and did not explain this. I signed and was charged $501 on my credit card. Within minutes, I called the billing number, and asked why I had been charged $501 on top of the rental fees. I was told I was paying for ALL of the optional insurances, WHICH I HAD DECLINED. I informed them that I had, in fact, declined all of the coverages, and the woman I spoke to told me she would notate my account, so the money would be refunded when the car was returned. I returned the car on December 17, 2023, and was promptly charged $258.34. When I asked what that was about, I was informed it was payment for the Loss and Damage Waiver. I called Thrifty billing again, and was put in touch with an agent named Monica. She informed me that, yes, the account had been notated that the coverage was actually denied, but that I had called the wrong place. She told me I should have reported it to the Atlanta location. I was never told that. She admitted the account said the money would be refunded, but went on to say that was no longer the case because it was at the tail end of the reservation. She refused to give me her id. I asked for her supervisor, Daniel, employee id 38782. He then claimed there were no notes saying any of that, and that Monica was mistaken. I asked for his supervisor, and he refused to transfer me. He told me he would not refund the money. I asked for a copy of the phone call, he refused. I asked what happened to the notes, and he said there were never any notes.

1 starWhy are they still in business? Probably because the money is too good to give it up. I had a last minute flight change to a different airport. The flight was delayed and I arrived at the airport late eve. I went online and started looking for a car. Thrifty was the BEST PRICE online ***** TOTAL. Once I was ready to check out the bill was now ******. I threw a fit and they lowered it to ****** for 2 days. The vehicle is a ***** Malibu.Review fromChristopher M

1 star1 Star by default, should be none for this company. This was my first time renting a car, and I have always been a little skeptical of "budget" friendly companies, and boy did Thrifty give me a reason. # weeks after my rental had been returned, they call me to allege damage to the car, as if I was responsible for their inadequate records of damage from prior renters. It is a good thing I took photos of the damage that was already on the car, circled by their staff prior to me being assigned the car. By the way Thrifty, attempting to make a claim that you know is false, is basically fraud. Great way to treat customers.Review fromJulia S

1 starSo challenging. While I was initially happy to find an affordable rental, this turned out to be an awful experience with the contract and admin side of the equation. At the time of reservation, I denied all extra coverage on the vehicle since I have my own insurance. I paid the deposit ahead of time, then I paid what t I thought (and asked about) was the final balance at pick-up. Apparently they 'added' the damage waiver back onto my reservation and did not explain this. I signed and at drop-off I was charged the additional $30/day for this waiver, WHICH I HAD INITIALLY DECLINED. In addition, they charged me for damage but did not tell me what the damage was. So, my fee ended up being $174 MORE than I had signed on for. To add to this, the base trunk was full of debri and I could not use - which I discovered shortly after pick-up. The vehicle itself was great - but the experience with the team and management, even after talking with a rep and with a supervisor, was challenging and unrelenting. They removed the $35 damage fee, but would not budge on the waiver fee despite the fact that they did not live up to their end of the agreement with a clean vehicle nor any consideration for what was explained to me by their staff at the counter. Very disappointed overall.

1 star12/10/2023, I reserved a four door sedan online through AMTRAV agency for a business trip for VideoRay to Pennsylvania with several other company employees. When I arrived at the Philadelphia Int. Airport Thrifty (aka Shifty) to pick it up, I was informed I reserved "The Manager's Special". When reserving it only shows, economy car, standard car, midsize car, compact car, minivan, or SUV options as choices. When I arrive at Shifty in the pouring down rain at 6pm they tell me the "Manager's Special" is an EV. For those of you that travel in rural Pennsylvania there are very limited places to charge an EV. After arguing with the desk clerk and manager about what constitutes a suitable exchange they offer me an "upgrade" for an additional $15 a day or pickup truck for four people and luggage in the rain. When the car came out it was only at 63% charge. Extremely frustrating.
