When I reserved my rental car online It was advertised as Compact or Larger and not specifically an electronic vehicle and I paid the total amount through the site. When I arrived at the desk to pick up my rental car I was told that I would be given an Electric Vehicle, I explained that wouldnt work for me, and the website and contract did not mention that I booked an electric vehicle.Due to the rural area that I was traveling to, I let the agent know that I would need the compact or larger car that was reserved online as there was no way for me to charge the car. She said the upgrade is $40 a day to get a compact car. I told her that I had already paid for that type of car and there was no reason why that could not be honored. I was given no choice but to sign for the upgrade. My rental went from $180 to $420 all due to the fact that they falsely advertised online that this was not an EV. The agent was extremely rude and aggressive. Seems like they are receiving a commission to up charge this ridiculous amount.I am requesting the total of $240 back to my account, and if

We rented through ******* for our recent Co trip. Upon check in our agent asked for a credit card. I questioned this as I dont just hand over my credit card and I assured him I had already paid in full with *******. He told me it was just a 200 deposit and that would be all that was charged. He then asked where we were going. I told him **** and he said oh you need 4 wheel drive. I was like oh ok and he went to the lot. Came back and said oh I have one for you. He finished the paperwork, and gave me a stack along with the key. We headed out and a couple days later I noticed a 700 charge on my credit card. Upon returning the car to the lot I asked to speak to the manager. He said well if you had come back the next day I could have done something for you, but you didnt. Nothing I can do. I explained to him that I was very clear that I had already paid but was agreeing to the 200 deposit. The manager said I should have noticed it, but the charge noted on the paper was almost identical to the one I was charged from *******. I was totally taken advantage of and never gave approval for rhe upgrade they charged me. I am fighting it but so far I have been hit with oh well! Too bad!! Please please watch yourself here. If this had been a young couple on vacation this could have cost them most of their vacation money. I will never rent from Thrifty again. Nothing but a scam of a company

I had an absolutely dreadful experience with Thrifty. Their service was subpar, and I encountered numerous issues during my rental. When I expressed my concerns, they offered a mere $100 voucher as compensation, which I had no interest in. I tried to communicate my preference for disputing the charges or receiving a discount for a future rental, but they seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns properly. It's clear that they prioritize their voucher offers over customer satisfaction. Because of this experience, I will never use their services again. Thrifty's lack of customer-centricity and their dismissive approach to resolving issues make them a company to avoid.

Zero stars for Thrifty Car Rental located in Houston Texas airport. I bought a Vacation package deal through Expedia and selected Thrifty car rental due to its affordable rate. When my family and I got to the airport to pick up our rental, the assistant working on the counter asked if i wanted insurance, i replied NO because i already have car insurance for personal car(s) back home therefore i do not need. He then asks me to E sign so i can get my car to which i signed and off we go. Once the car was returned, they had billed and charged me for a total of $445.57- FOR INSURANCE in which i had verbally declined to the rep over the counter at the airport!!! Little did i know that Thrifty had automatically charged me for car insurance when i e-signed. I was never made aware nor did i ever agree to be charged for car insurance. It makes no sense! When I called customer service and try to explain my situation, she was rude and said, "your are being charged for car insurance and i see that you signed, so there's nothing we can do." I asked to speak with a manager and she replied, "they are all in a meeting" and then she hung up on me. I called to speak with multiple reps and finally got one that was able to submit a escalation for me. Thrifty Car Rental is absolutely scamming people because they require you to E SIGN however, fail to advise you will automatically be charged for car insurance even though you verbally declined. If that is how they run their business then it is not ok this is shady business.

I'd give Thrifty zero stars if possible to match their customer service. August 2023, I rented a car from Thrifty through AAA. I had a tire come apart on the highway outside Angola, Indiana. Full disclosure, I was at least partly responsible for the tire damage to begin with and owned that in every subsequent conversation. I contacted AAA and was told there was no AAA roadside service on weekends in Angola and to get the car to the closest Thrifty/Hertz location for help. I looked at Thrifty's website, saw that the closest location was at the Ft Wayne Airport. Long story short, when I arrived at the Ft Wayne Aurport, I discovered that there is no Hertz or Thrifty car rental desk there and hasn't been for a couple years. Got on the phone again. Thrifty/Hertz Customer Service phone line was close to a hour wait on hold (great way to keep those pesky customers away) but when I finally got a person to talk to, the Thrifty agent assured me that their website showed a location there. The fact that I was standing right there and looking at two completely empty car rental desks was a mystery to them. They ended the "service" call with "I don't know what to tell you." The same thing happened with my call for help to AAA. I even found a phone number for the Thrifty rental desk at the Ohio airport where I picked up the car. They agreed that I needed to get the car to a Thrifty/Hertz location, checked their information and suggested...Ft Wayne Airport. When i told them that's where I was and there was no Hertz/Thrifty desk there, they said "I don't know what to tell you." If you expect any sort of customer service from a car rental company, any accurate and helpful online information, or easy phone access to a human, DO NOT LEASE FROM HERTZ/THRIFTY.

DO NOT RENT FROM THRIFTY!! I prepaid my rental and when I got to my destination I was told very rudely they didn't have anymore cars available. I even called and double checked my reservation the day before my trip. I called corporate but since I booked through Expedia they said they hadn't gotten their money yet. Expedia sends it when the car is picked up. They did however say that yes they could see it was a prepay. Then that's on Thrifty not Expedia. I had no choice but to go to the counter and rent from someone else. I rented from AVIS they took excellent care of me and did not charge much more than I had paid thrifty even though it was last minute. AVIS will be my choice for car rental in the future.

I would choose no stars. This was the first and last time using Thrifty. I waited in line to be told the vehicle I reserved for and paid for was no available and I ended up with an electric vehicle (it was such a hassle to charge this thing-I will never do it again). I declined coverage and was charged for it. I called customer service and emailed them to be told I would not be refunded, because I signed the agreement. Why would I think I would be signing an agreement with coverage after verbalizing that I DID NOT want coverage. Never again will I give them my business.

I verbally declined extra protection on my rental at the counter. I proceeded to sign electronically as directed. I did not realize until I had returned the car and looked at the final bill that I had been charged for the extra protection. I called Thrifty about this. They said a refund for the charges was up to the discretion of the store manager. I did not receive a refund. I will never rent from Thrifty again.

Bad experience, I made a visgem package They don't explain anything to you and when you go to pick up the car then at that moment comes the prank They offer you an Electric car and if you don't want this Rlex car they will charge you almost 100 dollars more for the car gasoline. Pay close attention to this detail. I will never use this company again.

Ouch it hurts me to put one star, This is the most fraudulent company I've ever dealt with. I wish I would have read this page before I rented from them. It seems from reading these reviews, I'm one of the lucky victims of their fraudulent practices. I was billed for a insurance policy I didn't need, because I had already purchased a policy through a 3rd party. I even informed the person at the counter of the policy I had purchased, but after I returned the car I was charged $209. for their insurance and I won't get any refund because I signed the rental agreement. DON'T USE THRIFTY...
