      Terrible customer service. We rented a car months ago. The Portland location didn't have a vehicle available in the economy size so we were required to upgrade. I was also told I was required to get insurance even though I have coverage. Turns out I didn't need insurance. Liars! Don't use them! Or don't fall for their lies!!

      I made a reservation with Thrifty Car Rental.When I arrived Octobet in the evening I was told by Thrifty staff that Corporate had closed them because there were no cars and we would need to go to another company.I made a reservation 3 months in advance to have a car available when I arrived,not to need to reserve from somewhere else. Not only did it take me 2.5 additional hours to complete another reservation at a different agency but it cost me almost 2x the cost. My original reservation had been for $370; I ended up being charged at the second over $750.I had no choice as this was the only company with cars that evening and I NEEDED. It is not acceptable to not have a car available when one was reserved. Better management of stock of available cars seems essential and customers should not be put at a disadvantage.When a reservation cannot be honored, at a minimum Thrifty needs to assist customers in obtaining another reservation with the same rate. There is nothing acceptable about a staff simply stating they are closed and no additional assistance is available. Customers are clearly not valued at Thrifty. While I received a refund for money already paid to Thrifty, additional compensation from Thrifty seems only appropriate.I contacted Thrifty two times prior to receiving a response to my complaint and their offer was a $20 voucher, which is laughable in terms of financial compensation or any attempt to recognize inconvenience to customers or the unacceptable business decisions this company is making. When I responded,I received only an email response stated they appreciated my contacting them and hope they are able to serve me again soon. Given the number of other car rental agencies that exist you would think Thrifty would want to ensure customers continue to choose them versus guaranteeing that we will look elsewhere in the future by their lack of customer service. I will no longer rent from Thrifty and will widely share with those I know to choose elsewhere.

      Never again they take advantage of people who have been on a plane for hours and get you to pay a lot of extra fees for things you don’t need and talk very fast to confuse you. Never again!

      Investigate Thrifty ATL. It is a scam. Taking non - refundable reservations when they have no cars.

      My rental agreement was $350. Instead, I was charged $668 because of an additional $318 of insurance, which I never signed for. I have my own insurance so why do I need to purchase additional insurance? The customer service rep was foreign and all he said was that he couldn't refund the $318 with absolutely no explanation. This company is full of crooks! They don't deserve even 1 star in this review!

      I would give zero stars if able to. Booked a electric suv from ********* when I got there to pick I found it didn't come with a charging kit so I would have to drive a good 40min away to charge, I was told I could upgrade to a gas vehicle at $25 a day. I was told it was $309.77 which included a $200 hold that I would get back after returning the suv, I checked account my it actually was a $510 plus what I got charged through *********. I was charged a whole bunch of extra fees that I know I declined when speaking to the person at the counter, but didn't catch at the counter. I feel I was taken advantage of how everything was worded during signing of the agreement. To matters worse the vehicle smelled of mildew/mold, cigarettes, and **** I personally cleaned the inside multiple times during my rental. I could never recommend this rental company to anyone.

      Rental car confirmation number * **** *** *** ****. Picked up car at LAX on 10/11/23. Car broke down on 10/15/23 due to overheating which we later learned to be a recall on thermostat of car. Took over 2 hours to get customer service to contact tow truck and then over 7 hours for tow truck to arrive. Was sitting waiting on tow and told to pick up a car closest to us would be at least three more hours as we had to wait for car to be returned to LAX, which by that time that location would have been closed. Was without car 1.5 days and then when picked ip another car, the manager Juan informed us he was waiving all fees and upgrading car due to inconvenience this cause. Received bill which states we had the upgraded car for 7 days and double charged what we were told would all be waived which is on voice recording. Called customer service and they advised they couldn’t do anything about it. I explained we were being charged seven days of fees for car only in possession 1.5 days. Was informed there was nothing thst can be done. Case number **********. I should not have to waste over 48 hours of my time chasing a car they should have been mechanically sound prior to renting and now dealing with subpar customer service who refuses to make it right. Do have video and audio of interactions as well.

      Horrible and dishonest company. Rental clerk at ****************** gave me an alternate vehicle when the one I reserved was unavailable. He then added highest insurance coverage and didn't tell me about the upgrade charges. I attempted to talk to him when I returned vehicle and he says "not my problem, call ****************** I will never do business with such an illegal and dishonest company. Thrifty **************** offered me 1/3 of new charges back. Do not do business with Thrifty unless you want to pay double the price and deal with a butthead clerk.

      This company engages in fraud. I made a reservation prior to my trip. I used mobile check-in and just needed to pickup my keys. Once reaching the counter after a 90 minute wait, I was told I owed them $300 more than what I already paid. She said it was for extra coverage that I needed because it was "illegal to operate the car without it". I declined and yet still was charged. **************** has refused to correct the issue and sent me a "signed" invoice showing that I agreed. I never agreed to this and now I am forced to report it as fraud to my credit card company. Overall the return process was excellent, but what is the point when I was lied to, overcharged, and received a different (smaller) car than what I paid for. I am not one to write reviews but this is unacceptable business.

      I would recommend not renting from ******************************** We declined all electives at the time of pick-up, with exception of the pre-paid gas. We were not provided any type of receipt nor signed for anything at that time.Once the car was dropped off, there was a charge of $209.94 for the Loss Waiver, which we did not agree to. There also is a scribble line, which they claim was my signature, which is clearly not mine & is fraudulent. This is the most upsetting. *** made several attempts thru emails and contacted the ************************** Team @ Hertz and have gotten no where. Its so disappointing to know that a company like Thrifty is taking advantage of their customers & not assisting when there is an issue to be resolved.We will never use Thrifty again.
