Shame on Thrifty Rental at the ****** airport! My daughter is a first traveler and firs time renting a car. She is 23 years old and this was a new experience for her. I paid for everything online minus the deposit, we knew that would be a cost once she arrived. The man that helped her at the counter was very rude to her. He could hardly speak English hand was very hard to understand. He told my doughtier that because she was only 23 she was required to accept the optional insurance. By the time she left the counter, she had to put a $500 deposit down plus pay an additional $647.00 on top of the payment online. I have the online payment receipt that says paid and $130.00 due at counter. I feel that Thirty took total advantage of my daughter being young and a new traveler by telling her that the insurance is required due to her age. We called Thrifty and explained the situation and asked to cancel the insurance and adjust the $103 taxes added on. I was told that they could not do that and that I would have to deal with billing when the car is returned. needless to say we have not gotten anything accomplished. Customer service has bene very rude, unwilling to help and very hard to understand. Very discouraging. I will not not recommend Thrifty to anyone and we will never use them again.

I recently rented a car from Thrifty at Raleigh-Durham airport. They gave me an EV. I needed to drive 2+ hours to my destination. I’ve had zero exposure to EV cars. They never asked how far I was going knowing it was an EV. All they told me was to download an app to tell where charging stations were located. I had 210 miles to start for my 160 mile trip. I got near Wilmington and had 65 miles left with 35 miles to go. I figured I’d stop and recharge. I looked up the area charging stations and 75% of the stations were for Tesla only, I had a Kia. I pulled up to a compatible station and plugged in. After 45 min I accumulated 3 miles. Knowing that this was unacceptable and a total inconvenience I called thrifty and said I’d like to bring this car to Wilmington airport and exchange it for a gas vehicle for the rest of my trip. The girl said she couldn’t authorize this and put me on to someone else who said I could exchange it. When I got to the airport, 20 miles out of the way, I was told I couldn’t do that. Now I had 45 miles left to go 35 miles. I needed to find a charger before I headed to my destination. I found one that gave me 35 miles after charging an hour. I got to my home in Southport and had 4 miles left on the car. I was hamstrung on not being able to go anywhere. The next morning I got towed to a charging station. I charged it for 4 hours and got 135 miles so I could at least you it for my time there. I recharged the day before I left and had 175 miles to get back to Raleigh airport. I was 35 miles from the airport and I wasn’t going to make it. I looked at the app and there were no charging stations outside of Tesla and plug in stations for portable chargers, which was not provided. Again, I called a tow truck and got towed to the rental car return. On the shuttle from the rental car return to the airport terminal I received an additional bill for not returning the car full and a charge for returning it below a power level. Total Deception from Thrifty

Less than one star. Thrifty is basically a greedy thief that will try to up charge you and steal your money. Be very careful what you sign for. They wont show you what you are signing so you will have to ask for specifics. They will not listen to you or try to resolve any issue. Absolutely terrible experience.

7/31 - rented at ******* for 8 day trip through PNW region. Conned into an upgrade to SUV. Rental was 2019 Kia ******** 60k+ miles. 8/5 - flat tire @ ***********. Spare tire was a donut and under inflated. *************** center 1.5-2 hrs away. Customer service was rude, unhelpful and couldnt find their way out of the dark with a flashlight. We found a USED syringe and a cap for another syringe that was not located in the rental. Being that we were on the top of the mountain with next to zero cell service we chose to start heading off the mountain towards civilization. Made it to the check in station and waited 1.5 hrs for ************** Services to offer assistance and remove the paraphernalia. It was removed safely. The ranger DID inform us that we ARE liable for anything thats in that vehicle had we been pulled over and the vehicle wouldve been searched. A potential for both my wife and I to lose our jobs, livelihood and reputation. Not to mention the HEALTH risks associated, such as what was in these syringes? Did the previous occupant have any diseases that could be transmitted? Limped the car to the next town and got the tire fixed as we were told. 8/7- We spoke with the counter clerk at ******** when returning and he was dismissive. Gave us a generic number for the manager. Called numerous times and no answer, left several voicemails and no return call. Finally spoke with someone from a different branch and was told to file a claim through the customer relations email. Dismissive again. Sent email, took 5 days to get a heres $20 for the tire repair and sorry about your luck with the syringe. Sent messages on social media and made posts. Everyone at Hertz and Thrifty was dismissive like it was everyday life to find used syringes in their rentals. So, please check the car before you leave. The spare tire compartment, under the seats, etc. the cars are only surfaced cleaned, not deep cleaned as they promote.

I purchased my car rental with bundle through Spirit Airline, Thrifty was the car rental assigned. When I picked up the car in ******* ** airport, I immediately informed the representative that I am waiving the car insurance since my car insurance covers full rental, I was also charged a second driver, when I told the representative that my husband is the only driver that will be using this car.So when we returned the car, they charged me for SECOND DRIVER andI INSURANCE. I have been trying to call their STUPID customer service and I was promised EVERYDAY that a manager would contact me!!!! It's been 3 weeks!!!!!This THRIFTY car rental is a SCAM and I will be filing a lawsuit!!!!!

Thrifty is the worst. My wife booked a minivan in advance so that we could take a small road trip to ****** for our son's 4th Birthday. We were scheduled to pick up this van at 8p from the ***************. We waited in line for over an hour just to be told they didn't have any vehicles available! While in line, some *** **** **** **** ***** ****** came out and yelled "it's a 3 hour wait before you get your car.!" ******* When they told us they didn't have any other cars, they wanted us to wait around to see if one comes available. We asked to leave and come back. She said we could, but it's 1st come, 1st served. We're now looking desperately for a van to take this trip tomorrow morning. Thrifty is the worse. I thought I was only dealing with a bad employee but I now see it was a bad company. Thrifty executives should be ashamed of themselves. You guys do not know what you are doing!

Never dealing with Thrifty again. Booked a car through Expedia in December later canceled it. Received refund from Expedia right away... after 4 months received a bill from Thrifty asking for payment for canceled reservation. I called Thrifty telling them matter should be resolved between both companies specially since I did not book directly through Thrifty but rep told me I should resolve it with Expedia. I called Expedia and explained them the situation. Going back and forth and after receiving 2 more notice from Thrifty, they put my name in no rental list and then in collection. Let me say that I always pay all my bills on time and never keep any loan, it was embarrassing for me to be in collection. Do not know what communication was happening between the companies on the backend but one day Expedia called me saying that they will pay me for the canceled reservation just to resolve the matter and I should make payment "for canceled reservation". Leaened that Thrifty is run by money people but Expedia showed that customer comes first. Shame on you Thrifty. Never doing business and will tell thw same to everyone else.

DO NOT rent from Thrifty. If you have previously rented, check your credit card. I was charged $300 for dropping off the car at another airport, which I did not. I was also charged for tolls, which there were none. When I called, they verified I did drop off the car at the same airport, but was never refunded. I called again and they are insisting I dropped the car off at another airport. I am still desperately trying to get my $300 fee refunded.

      1. Arrived at the ***************, landed at the expected time and got to the counter within 5 minutes of rental time on the reservation. 2. After a 45 min wait in line at 1:30 AM, I was told they would process my reservation, however the cost was going to be $1500 rather than the $637 reservation price and they had no cars available.3. If I wanted a car, we had to stand in line in the parking garage in ******* in August for 2-3 hours to wait until the morning returns started coming in. They thought we should have a car by 5:00 AM or maybe 6:00 AM, but it would not necessarily be the type of car we reserved, regardless of what we were paying. This is the last time I will try to rent with Dollar or Thrifty or their parent company Hertz. The counter people were apologetic, but offered no solutions to nearly triple the cost and multiple hours wait in the middle of the night to get a car. We found one car left at another rental agency and paid the same ridiculously overpriced fee, but got a much larger SUV right away.

The most horrible experience, they couldnt find my reservation for over 30 minutes when they did started piling on charges and then to finalize they wouldnt accept my card. We had to do a new car rental with another company who had no issues with my card. When I requested a refund they refused. Most horrible customer experience and took advantage of us being on vacation and not having other options.
