Worst company I have ever done business with. Booked our car rental through ***** Car Rental in the UK for our Orlando Florida family holiday in September 2024. ***** hired us a car through Thrifty in the USA. Picked up our car at Orlando International airport. Staff were rude, sold us extra insurance we did not need and provided us with a sub standard car. The car broke down after 5 days with a flat battery. Took Thrifty 6 hrs to respond at which time all of my family were stuck at a roadside restaurant. Thrifty staff were unhelpful on the phone. Told us that no engineer was available to fix our car. Had to pay for a taxi to get my family to our rental villa. At 3 am in the morning Thrifty fixed our vehicle but only temporarily. The engineer told us that the vehicle's battery was very old and not the original battery supplied with this car it was much older. We need a replacement vehicle. Had to travel back to Orlando airport by taxi to pick up a replacement vehicle. Thrifty refused to bring a vehicle to us. In all the flat battery breakdown took over 9 hrs to resolve and let us very tired. So we lost our park tickets for the next day. Holiday was ruined for a couple of days. Thrifty and ***** refused to compensate us for our loss. Very poor customer service. Take my advice, don't hire cars from these companies if you value your holiday

My family picked up a rental car from the **************************. We drove the car for about 2.5 hours before it died on the highway. Thrifty's only solution was going to require us to drive another 4 hours back to the airport to get a new one. This was not an option for us. The car was towed from the highway and then we have not heard from them despite multiple attempts. I was still charged over $50 which I assume is for gas, but unsure how I am supposed to fill the tank if the car was not functioning?? Again, zero customer service at this time.

Worst car rental company I have ever worked with. I had a reservation for a vehicle in ************, SC on 10/12. Thrifty was unable to provide the vehicle I reserved and offered me a different vehicle which wouldn't fit everybody in my family. The agent at the counter told me I would just have to make multiple trips to get my family to the hotel. Thrifty then proceeded to charge me the rate for the vehicle I didn't even get! I had to call the next day to check if the correct vehicle was now available and then go change it out. The agents at the Thrifty office would not fix the charge for the wrong vehicle for a day or offer any discount for the major inconvenience Thrifty caused. They told me to call a ***** number. The people there said they couldn't do anything either, I should submit a request to be contacted through the Thrifty Contact Us page on the website. I did that, three times over the course of three weeks! NO ONE has reached out to me. Your customer service is horrible! I am now attempting to reach you through social media pages because maybe somebody looks at these and will contact me? I am fed up with Thrifty.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Charged me for the toll fee when I never used a toll on my trip. The fee was $50 which is insane to begin with. Tried to charge my credit card 5 times without ANY communication telling me why they’re charging me (my credit card company marked as fraud). I had to contact them to inquire. I refused to pay it and then they reached out to Hertz and THEY charged my card, also without and authorization to do so. Do not recommend.

I recently rented a car from Thrifty at the Raleigh, NC airport. A Hertz employee called me to her line and rushed me through. I was never asked if I wanted all the extras - insurance, etc. I never rent vehicles. I ended up paying $742.36 for a 4 day rental in a mid size Nissan sedan! I tried to explain I hadn’t wanted all the extras but they said I “approved” them at the time of the rental. And now I just incurred an additional $29.98 for tolls and convenience fee. Tourists should not be responsible for convenience fees.

Negative 5 stars. Picked up car at night. Next morning I see burn holes in seat and floor mats. So I called to report and they made note and thanked me for the call. Also went on line and filled out preexisting damage report. Dropped off car and received a $1200 charge for cleaning and damage. I dont even smoke. Cant get a real person to talk to on the phone I am livid and dont know what to do.

I had a reservation for 11 pm tonight. The flight wasn't landing until after 10 so I called the corporate office and they said the office was closed at 10 pm so I cancelled the reservation. I got to the airport and it was indeed open. They told me they could not reopen the reservation and there was no car for me. My wife called corporate back and they reopened the reservation, but could not confirm if the office was still open at 1105 pm. The corporate office giving us the incorrect closure time and telling us that no one would be there to put me in a car cost me an additional 270.00 for a reservation somewhere else. This is completely unacceptable.

Whatever you do, stay far away from this car rental company. The level of deception they operate with is outrageous. I explicitly declined their insurance, and they still sneakily charged me for it. Then, they convinced me to pay for a toll pass in Orlando, but guess what? No pass was ever provided, and I was hit with toll charges separately later on. This is beyond frustrating—it’s outright FRAUD. The way they run their business is nothing short of criminal. Their staff are liars, and their tactics are clearly designed to mislead and extort money from unsuspecting customers. I wouldn’t trust them with a penny of your money.
