1 starAVOID AT ALL COST. I tried to cancel the additional insurance that they claim was required by law. I spent hours on the phone during a vacation and in the end, they said I can't cancel through the phone or online and I have to go back to where I got the car in order to cancel. 2 months later, I am getting arbitrary charges for almost $400 for services that I didn't purchase.Review fromKathy F

1 starI rented a car at Thrifty at Cleveland Hopkins airport, I said I'd pick it up at 10:00 am, I got to the rental agency at 10:00 and stood in line another 1/2 hour then I waited another 20 minutes because they didn't have a car for me, when I picked up the car I asked her do I still return at the time I stated or do I get extra time since I didn't pick it up for almost another hour, she just said, it would be an additional $10 dollars for every hour over. When I returned it I was 1 hour over and then they raised the original daily fee from $40 per day to$71 per day. I didn't see any of that on the crappie rental agreement! I called right after returning the car about getting reimbursed for $50 that I was over charged, July 10 the guy said he submitted it, on July 17 I called and the next guy said it was submitted and would be paid within 7-10 days. Today I was told they denied the overcharge since I was 1 hour late returning it. i will never rent from this company again.Review fromLisa R

1 starHorrible!! 3 1/2 hour wait for a rental that was reserved 3 weeks ago. They overbook and the other companies run out of vehicles to cover for them. Never ever again!$!Review fromChristine F

1 starWorst experience ever. After over 3 weeks they have yet to close out my account correctly. I was offered an upgrade for free and was charged. I need the detailed receipt to get reimbursed from the airline and thrity/hertz can't get it right. I dropped it off in another state and the receipt still says I dropped it off at pickup location. When I call I'm told it will be escalated and completed in 24-48 hours. Never happens. I have asked for higher management to speak to and am told they are not on shift and will call me. Never happens. Do not rent from Thrifty/Hertz. Pay the extra money and rent from another company because this company has no clue about customer service or getting things correct. Beubg charged daily for a car i returned, no notes on my file even though i call every couple of days. "Let's go! "Should be replaced with "Go Away, we have your money. "Review fromMichael B

1 starSo I rented a car through Priceline for 05/18/23 and when I pick it up it started to rain. The windshield wipers fell apart. So I called customer service (the name is a joke) And they said I could return the car. You know a thirty minute drive both ways and forty five minute wait for "customer service" or I could replace them myself and they would reimburse me. So now I have a job for no pay. I go to a part store buy wipers put them on. The next day I see the drivers front tire has a bulge in it so now I have to return the car. They give me a receipt for the windshield wipers but as of 7/17/23 never received credit for them. I have called customer service twice with a now thirty minute wait to talk to someone. They need to call ****************** something else.Review fromKevin H

1 starWARNING: Unfair Billing Practices and ************ at Thrifty Car Rental Dear Friends and Consumers,I want to share my recent experience with Thrifty Car Rental, exposing their unfair billing practices and disappointing service. Despite my efforts to resolve the issue, I faced frustration and uncooperative behavior. Please be cautious and review your bills and contracts carefully when dealing with Thrifty Car Rental. On March 15th, I rented a car from them for a same-day return. Surprisingly, I received a bill claiming I returned the car two days late with additional charges. This accusation is false and impossible given my flight schedule.I have evidence, including the rental agreement, flight itineraries, parking receipts, and credit card statement, proving my return on the same day. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts, their customer service provided no satisfactory response or explanation.Exercise caution when considering Thrifty Car Rental, and demand fair treatment. Let's hold companies accountable and protect others from similar situations.Thank you for your attention and stay vigilant.Review fromBen S

1 starOn July 7, 2023, I reserved a car with Thrifty car rental with a pickup date of July 9 and a return date of July 12. I chose the pay today option and Thrifty charged my credit card for a partial payment of $43.03. The remainder of $142.59 would be charged when I pick up the car. On July 8, I receive a text message from Thrifty stating that my reservation was cancelled as no cars were available (even though they had accepted my reservation and partial payment). So I contact Thrifty and I advised the customer service representative that I had a reservation and that Thrifty had charged my credit card for a partial payment. Consequently, the Thrifty representative advised and assured me that the car reserved would be available for me at my scheduled pick up date and time. On July 9, at 1:30, I arrived at the Thrifty car rental counter and was informed that no cars were available. Even so, Thrifty still charged my credit card on July 9 for the remaining balance of $142.59. Additionally, to this date, July 17, Thrifty still has not issued a refund to my credit card. If an individual makes a car reservation and Thrifty accepts the reservation and charges the customers credit card payment, Thrifty should not have the right to cancel the reservation. This can cause all sorts of problems for the customer. The customer may have prepaid hotel reservations pertaining to their trip with no ability to cancel and obtain a refund, event tickets could have been purchased with no ability to obtain a refund, among other situations that could cause the customer to suffer financially; however, ********************** suffers no loss financially. Congressman ************************* has introduced the Vehicle Rental Order Obligation Mandate VROOM Act which would require rental car companies who do not fulfill the confirmed reservation to compensate the customer. I encourage you to contact your representative in the U.S. Congress and ask her/him to support the proposed VROOM Act.Review fromKELLY N

1 starI rented a car at Thrifty online through Priceline for pick up and return at San Francisco International Airport. This was the worst rental car experience in my life. I waited in s line that had more than 70 customers in it. I will also note that the line never got shorter but got longer. It took me over 2 hours to get to the counter. The entire group of agents kept saying that their system was going down intermittantly. When I finally got to an agent who seemed to have a working station, she tried to start adding in additional costs even through I had waived the insurance through priceline and had prepaid. She then told me they had no cars available and I would have to wait a minimum of one to two more hours. I don't understand why Thrifty would rent more cars than it has available. I was there at the designated time of pickup but I was at the end of a 70 plus person line. I ultimately went to National and rented a car. All of the people in that line were from the Thrifty line. Minimum, if they do not have cars available, they need to inform people so that the customers can make decisions. I would not have stayed in the line had I not prepaid through Priceline and I was worried I would not get a refund.Review fromVivian C
