Had the worst experience "trying" to pick up my car from RDU on July 1st at 10:45 pm. I had booked the reservation almost a month and a half in advance using my credit card. The reservation was basically paid for minus about 25.00 in fees. We had traveled internationally so we only brought my husbands DL and the credit card we used to pay for the rental. One because this is the card we used and two this card will accept international charges without a fee. Upon arrival to the counter I was met with a lady who asked for our DL and credit card. She proceeds to tell me that after we have been traveling since 9:30 am that day, and already have a rental, paid for the majority of the rental, that I am not able to take the car. She said because the DL was my husbands, who was there, and the credit card was in my name, that she could not accept it. I was able to provide my passport, my medical insurance card that shows both my husband and I on the policy. I even was able to get my mom to send me a picture of my DL to show it was me, and none of these items was good enough. However, the credit card was good enough to accept the payment two months ago and the system didn't reject that cc and rental was in a different name. So now it is 11:30 pm and we are stuck in Raleigh walking up and down the rental car lots hauling two bags and have been traveling for 14 hours. So we went back to the company we rented a car from at the beginning of our trip, with the same credit card and same DL and they had no issues accepting it. So after an hour and a half of hauling a 100 pounds of luggage up and down a half mile road and spending double what we originally anticipated we finally got a car to go home in. The real kicker is the lady wouldn't refund me since I rented through expedia and the policy is if I cancel within 24 hours I lose all my money. Really!!!! I didn't cancel it, I'm standing at the counter trying to get the car and I wasn't allowed to take it.

They couldn't find my car for a week after I dropped it off. They told me to leave it in the parking lot for Hertz at the airport, which I did, and took pictures, and then they called me saying they couldn't find the car. I had several phone calls with them and STILL was billed for an additional week, which I disputed with my credit card and then I get notices from a debt collector. I'm on the phone with them now and they're saying they have no record of me calling them. I will never rent a car from them again, and possibly Hertz too if this is their company, it's truly awful. Avoid them at all costs.

Rented a vehicle from Thrifty at RDU AIRPORT. The experience was less than desirable. The dated vehicle had bad brakes and rotors. The car shook when the brakes were applied. The speed limit in NC is 70 and this was an absolute dangerous situation with the rotors being warped. On top of that the car was DIRTY! I attempted to reach someone from Thrifty and they have yet to respond. Date of rental 6/24 -6/27 I called the roadside assistance and was given a reference number. They asked if I wanted to drive back to the airport to get another car? No! Especially when we already had to wait for a car in the rented class to become available. Thrifty was fully aware of the situation and I have yet to receive a call back!

I purchased a trip package from Priceline for air, hotel and car. From L.A. to A.Z. I had reserved a compact car for my and my daughter's stay. After waiting for a long time we finally went to get our car that had to be returned at 3:30pm. We get to the parking garage and they mentioned there were no compact cars left. They rushed us to an SUV and said you can take this one. After trying to start the SUV, it wouldn't start. I asked my daughter to try and start it, but it didn't. Another employee came by and told us to go to rush over to another SUV in the lot. So after making sure that the SUV started we left. The afternoon that we had to return the car, we went and filled up the tank and went to the airport to drop off the SUV. We got there at 3:08pm, we were instructed to go to the front of the line and leave they keys in the car and that was it. That night after arriving at home I was charged $247.00 for no reason. The next day I was charged $221.00. This is after paying for everything in advance with Priceline. I'm so upset, I went to AZ for a funeral and I was hoping for a no hassle time with the trip arrangement, but this is ridiculous. This company is a thug, embarrassing, unprofessional and theives.

I rented from this company for the first time on a recent trip. I learned to not renting from them again. The Service Rep and the counter tried to add too many services and fee that I did not ask for. Somehow, a couple thing was not taken off the agreement that I asked to remove, and I had to pay for it after the trip. They promised to call me back to go over my concerns within 72 hours, but never did. This is very deceiving practice and the company should be avoided.

If there were a no star option, that is exactly what I would put. We rented a car with over ****** miles on odometer and while driving to ******* from ********, the check engine light came on. The car made noise. We exchanged the car in *****, driving over 50 miles out of our way with no compensation. When returned in **, we filled the car with gas, then was charged over ****** saying it was not filled. It ABSOLUTELY was full. We took timed stamped pictures before releasing the car. They are VERY fraudulent! They not only requested us to send images to prove that we filled up the vehicle (which we have and still have) but they requested images of our bank account showing we filled it up, exposing our financial information. We are still awaiting a response/ case number. It is difficult to even get a hold of someone.

We rented a car from Thrifty on April 5, final payment was made. June 22, 2023 we received a bill for 91.13. It is impossible to reach them, they don’t return emails. This is a constant problem with the location! We have not received a refund yet, it should be against the law to charge a customer 2 1/2 month’s after leaving site!!!!!

Wish I had read these reviews first. Prepaid 6/14/23 SFO airport, huge line at Thrifty while all other companies had little or no line. After waiting over an hour finally got to agent who started by informing me there were no cars and I would have to wait 2 hours. I asked to speak to a manager and was told "they are in a meeting". I turned around and told the 30 or so people in line there were no cars, and based on the reaction nobody believed me. They made us stand in line for over an hour! We declined to wait and walked over to Alamo, no line, and immediately got a car. Thrifty provided an unmatched level of custom satisfaction - zero and I will never rent from them again!

Thrifty rent a car is good at the bait and switch. I reserved the the car online as a one way rental, but the computer switched it to a round trip rental, now if I want the car I have to pay an extra 1000.00$. Rent with some other company this rent a car company is horrible.
