I booked a car with Thrifty for an upcoming vacation approximately 5 weeks in advance. When I arrived at the *************** and proceeded to the Thrifty Car Rental counter, I found myself in a long line of waiting customers with 2 employees working behind the counter. After standing in line for approximately 20 minutes, a rude and unprofessional employee came out and told everyone that no cars were available for the next 6-8 hours and if you had made a reservation in the last 1-2 days there were no cars for you. Majority of the customers were forced to go other car rental companies as the last minute. As a result I found a car with **** which cost me $300 more because of their availability. I will never do business with this company again.

The worst Customer Service ever! They do not honor their reservations unless you prepay, but they do not warn you about it either. Thrifty did not honor the reservation at the Jackson, MS, airport branch, even though our reservation had been confirmed by Thrifty within 7 hours of the rental time. The branch told me - "no cars, we do not care!" They were giving cars to those who pre-paid. But there was NO mention on their website that prepayment was the only way to get a car! And they did not even bother to mitigate the situation in any way, nor to warn me beforehand, nor even to apologize!!! When I showed them a confirmation email from Thrifty 7 hours prior, they just said it had come from the central office, and the central office DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING at the local branches!!! I thought we lived in the age of the Internet. NEVER deal with Thrifty! They are thrifty only at your expense!

This is the second time renting from them. My first time was in Ft. Lauderdale and now rented from them in Orlando. Same issue...they literally have two employees working the counter and they just let the customers wait. I waited over an hour in line to get up to the counter. Terrible!

I arrived to pick up a car at RDU airport in North Carolina. The line was about 15 people long when I arrived. After finally getting to the car (wandered around due to lack of staff help and inadequate signage), I pulled left the lot to head to my destination (approx 30 min away). The air co sit-up I g was not working in the car. Once at the destination I called Thrifty customer service. It took me over an hour to get to a live person that could answer my question. There is no option to speak with a person, when I finally chose emergency road side assistance I got to someone who eventually told me I could return the car and swap out. I explained I was here for a wedding and did not have time to go back to the airport. I asked for a $25 credit on my rental. I was told I needed to speak with the location, but she could open a claim. She did that. I called the number she gave me for the location and it looped me right back in to the same voice automated system I started with an hour earlier. The customer service is horrible, but even more frustrating is the complete lack of guidance in the website, the receipt or the phone as to where to direct my question.

Today we arrived on time at the BWI Thrifty counter to be coldly told that they had no cars, and we could expect to wait 3 hours for a car. No apologies, no offer to help get a car with another company; just a rude receptionist. Thrifty will never get my business again.. Paul A. Moultonborough, NH

Absolutely terrible in all respects and borderline fraudulent. Waited over two hours on a car we were supposed to have a reservation for. They didn’t provide and install a car seat even though we paid for it, and then made us bring it to the car and install it after we mentioned it. The air conditioning on the car was broken. Then they had the nerve to call us three days later and demand money for a scratch? We drove the car from the airport to the hotel garage and back and didn’t put a scratch on it. DON’T USE THRIFTY CAR RENTAL!

Arrived at MSP airport at 10:20 am excited to get my car and spend the day in the city. Currently it’s 12:00 noon and I have no car. I waited on a line for an hour to be told that it would be an additional 1.5 hours for my car ! They asked me to sit down opposite their counter in a crappy terminal with no food or beverage choices, no charging ports, nothing to help ease the 1.5 hour wait ! I am absolutely appalled and if I had any other recourse I would take it, but I don’t. Sickening! I wish I had paid the extra $200 when I set up this rental because if I’d have used a decent rental service I wouldn’t be stuck like this. NEVER AGAIN THRIFTY YOU ARE THE WORST

Reservation holds a spot not a vehicle.I requested a mid -size SUV .. was given a Dodge Ram TRUCK. I returned it 22 minutes early but was charged a late fee. I filled the gas tank as required but used some on the trip to the airport. Report said tank was 7/8 full - was charged $32.47 .and $35 in additional unexplained charges and an $8 " rental surcharge," of course in addition to $34 in taxes. I CALLED THE *** I RECEIVED MY RECEIPT. WAS TOLD TO CALL BACK BECAUSE THE **** WAS NOT FINALIZED. CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD IT HAD BEEN FINALIZWD BUT NOT "CLOSED OUT" - "Please call back in 3-5 business days.. " I am so passed off right now

It’s been over 10 days since I was told my rental had been closed out and would received my refund within 24-48 hours after the close out. Here I am 10 days later with no refund and no reason as to why it’s taking so long for a refund or close out of the rental. This company is a joke. I had an incident while in the rental and it caused myself and 6 year old daughter to be on the side of a busy highway for 4 hours and thrifty did nothing for 3 hours except call a tow company who wouldn’t come because of the distance. When I called back to find out the issue no one knew what was going on and then transferred me to a supervisor with no pretext of the situation who then waited 1 hour to contact another tow company to come get the car and proceeded to tell me to pay for an Uber 1 hour away from an airport in the opposite direction. Do NOT use this company. They do not care about your safety and make up excuses of why they won’t close out your rental and not return your refund.

Pre-paid online and used their counter at SFO. Terrible company. I came in with a pre-paid rental and verbally declined all the extra insurance I was offered. Not only did they open a new rental instead of my pre-paid, they added two extra charges to my bill that added over $200. I tried to reach the company through their website or by calling, but nothing worked. I couldn't reach a person or even find where I would go to give an issue like this resolved. Luckily I had time the next day, so I went back to the counter at the airport and complained. All of this was resolved after about an hour of back and forth with the manager, but I still had to pay for the day I had the insurance. If I hadn't gone back there was no chance I would have been able to resolve this. Their prices look low, but in reality they hit you with so many fees at the counter that you might as well just go to a better reviewed and less trashy company in the first place. The company is awful, and actively looks to scam you with extra fees after you explicitly decline them.
